We have talked about the fact that the implanted Word of God changes an individual: his reactions, emotions, behaviour.

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James, 1:21).

For the Word of God to be implanted in you, you must ‘lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness’. If you are mad at everybody then you won’t be able to hear and comprehend the Word; you will read it, but it won’t work in your life. The process of engrafting requires a special treatment, protection in order to preserve the tree from infection. The same can be said about a human heart, – it must be protected from wickedness so that the Word of God could be planted and then bring forth fruit – the fruit of salvation.

The Scripture above says that we must receive the implanted word with meekness. What does it mean? ‘With meekness’ means with submission to God and His Word giving up our rights. It is only with this attitude can the implanted Word of God bring salvation into your life.

«But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves» (James, 1:22).

When the Word has been implanted into you, it starts to control your actions and you start to do the Word. If you hear the word, but do not do it, it means it hasn’t been planted in you.

You can know the Word, understand it in your mind and even agree with it; but unless the Word is planted in you, you won’t do it. It is because the word is not не engrafted in the heart that an inner struggle goes on in a person. A struggle such as : «I believe the Word, but somehow I do not do it. I believe the Word to be true, but I act differently».

God says that if we live that way, we deceive ourselves. We deceive ourselves, and then we try to blame others for what happens to us; we do not take full responsibility for our lives. First of all, we need to check the condition of our hearts.

Nevertheless, that does not mean that other people will never treat us wrong. It also does not means that we will always have perfect circumstances. In spite of it, our hearts should and can be right.

«For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was» (James, 1:23-24).

Dear friend, your destiny is in your hands and nobody else – but you – is responsible for your life!

Have a great day!

Till tomorrow!

Pastor Rufus Ajiboye
“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James, 1:21).

For the Word of God to be implanted in you, you must ‘lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness’.
