Today I wish to discuss the topic: \u201cHow to make prayer a habit?\u201d\r\n\r\nWe\u00b4ve been learning about prayer and how to make your life of prayer effective for a long time already. We have speculated a lot about what prayer is and why we need to pray. We looked at the lives of many biblical heroes who lived in prayer, and we also mentioned many important aspects related to prayer itself.\r\n\r\nJesus set the best example of what a life in prayer has to be like. It was emphasised that everything Jesus did was done by His Word; therefore, the\u00a0<em>gates of hell<\/em>\u00a0shall\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0prevail against it. When Jesus builds His church by the Word and builds your life by the Word, the\u00a0<em>gates of hell<\/em>\u00a0shall\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0prevail against it.\r\n<h6>\u201cEveryone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.\u201d (Matthew 7:24).<\/h6>\r\nSerious calamities like wind, flood, or storm can one day come into everybody\u00b4s life, but when your house or your life is built on the Word of God, the building will not collapse, because the\u00a0<em>gates of hell<\/em>\u00a0shall\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0prevail against what God has established.\r\n\r\nHow can you be sure God is building your life? Everything God builds, He builds on His Word. The Word of God has to be in the centre of your life; then you can be certain that your life is built by God.\r\n\r\nIn other words, everything I do is what God tells me to do; it comes from my relationship with Him, from the revelation I possess through a personal relationship with God. That\u00b4s why my prayer is the most important thing to me in this case, it helps me to create and develop personal relationships with God.\r\n\r\nTherefore, each time you get a word from God, especially when He keeps drawing your attention to a particular verse for a long time, there is something He wants to do in your life. So, God wants you to make your life in prayer effective.\r\n\r\nMeanwhile, there are two different kinds of lives in prayer \u2013 effective and ineffective. How can we develop an effective life in prayer? We can study examples from the Bible and also the theology of prayer many times.\u00a0It won\u00b4t be a waste of time at all, but it would give you no benefit without practising prayer itself. In other words, you may have all the books ever written about prayer read, all the sermons ever preached listened to; you may know what prayer is and what the right way of praying is. You may know the kinds of prayer that exist and why we need to pray \u2013 all these things have no impact on your life if you don\u00b4t put them into practice.\r\n\r\nThat\u00b4s exactly what I wish to talk about today.\r\n\r\n<strong>How can we\u00a0develop a habit of prayer in our life?<\/strong>\r\n\r\nSomeone would say:\r\n\r\n\u00abThanks to God, I already have such a habit\u00bb. I am glad about you. Another might say, \u00abI\u00b4ve already tried, but failed to do so\u00bb. I am glad about you too.\r\n\r\nI pray today that this Word helps you to overcome your weakness and instability in solving this issue.\r\n\r\nFirst of all, I want to stress the fact that prayer is a love relationship with God. Why do I mention that, and why is it so important when you try to make prayer your habit? We already discussed that prayer is not learning different methods about how to convince God to do our will. Lack of a sense of necessity to pray is one of the few reasons why believers pray just a little.\r\n\r\nSome people think they should pray continuously only when there is a serious problem in their lives; otherwise, there is no reason to pray all the time. Those who are always in need live in prayer, and so do those who are well off, but their prayers are rather formal.\r\n\r\nSuch things happen due to misunderstanding of what prayer is. Prayer is love!\u00a0Prayer stands for the relationships of two persons loving each other, two hearts beating together \u2013 the heart of a person who believes in Christ and the heart of the loving God.
