May God give us today the spirit of wisdom and revelation of His Word which is live and powerful.

For several days now we have been talking about how important it is to know and do God’s will for his our lives. Knowing and doing God’s will is important for every person because our happiness on earth and our eternal destiny depend on. God reveals His Word through His Word, the Bible.

It says in the Bible that

«the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever» (1 John, 2: 17).

Did you notice who abides forever? The one who does the will of God! So what happens to the others then? They will pass and disappear with this world. Only those who know and obey the will of God will enter the Kingdom of heaven. Here is why God’s will is so important for every one of us. God’s desire for His every child is

«that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God» (1 Peter, 4: 2).

Before getting saved we lived long enough in the world according to the will of Gentiles giving ourselves into different lusts. But now God is calling us to be just as eager not for sin, but for doing the will of the One Who has created and saved us.

«For we have spend enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles – when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do no turn with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for „love will cover a multitude of sins”. Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good steward of the manifold grace of God» (1 Peter, 4: 3-10).

This Scripture passage says explicitly that we have lived long enough to do our own will. Stop denying the will of your Creator, because the end in close! We will all stand before the High Judge and answer for what we did with our lives.

If we spent „our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles – when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries”, then now God wants us to do His will and «have fervent love for one another», «be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good steward of the manifold grace of God».

As we said before, a successful person is the one who knows what God wants him to do in his life and has dedicated his life for doing God’s will. Human success is not measured by his social status, banc accounts, and influence in society, popularity or fame in this world. True success is measured by how successful he has been in doing God’s will.

Think about it today! God desires to give you true success that can be found in learning and doing God’s will for your life. You are the one who determines what to do with your life: either seeking temporary pleasure and enjoyment or seeking the eternal values of God’s Kingdom and His will for your life.

God has placed you on this earth for one purpose – to do God’s will. So you have to ask yourself constantly: «How can I link what I am doing today with God’s will for my life?» If you cannot give a convincing answer to this question, then you need to re-evaluate the direction your life has taken. You need to seek God to get His wisdom and understanding to change the situation. This, of course, does not mean that you must quit what you are doing or leave your job. Possibly, you just need to correct your approach, priorities and motives.

God can use you for His plan right where you are. You need to acknowledge the fact that no matter where you are today, your gifts can and must be used for the glory of God. Realize that the place where you are right now is a part of God’s plan to do good works God intended you to do.

Let’s continue tomorrow!

I wish you abundant God’s blessings!

Pastor Rufus Ajiboye
As we said before, a successful person is the one who knows what God wants him to do in his life and has dedicated his life for doing God’s will.
