I am very glad to address each of you with the Word that inspires and cheers you up. We continue our conversation about proliferation. As we already clarified, God expects His children to bear fruits. Gospel of John 15 says:

«Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away …» (John 15:2).

Gospel of Matthew contains the story about fig tree. As we read there, looking for fruits but having not found any on that tree Jesus cursed the tree then it dried up. When God observes barrenness or infertility, He doesn’t curse people, even though, many people think He does, instead, God takes His grace and mercy away from them. As soon the darkness comes after the light (sun) goes off, as quickly curse comes when life of Christ stops flowing in you.

«If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.». (John 15:6).

When person does not remain in Christ, he cuts himself off the blessings inherited by all believers in Christ. Then such person can perform some religious activities, but there will be no fruits in his life. The following verse from Scripture emphasises importance and necessity for every believer to bear fruits for God:

«He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’ He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”». (Luke 13:6-9).

Here we can see how God as a gardener comes to His garden to find some fruits. God may visit any of us any time in any way. Whenever and whatever the way He comes, He is always looking for fruits in your life. In this verse a man has planted a fig tree in his vineyard. As we have already spoken earlier, talking about the fig tree Jesus didn’t literally mean a tree, but a person or people.

The man in this parable had been waiting for fruits on his fig tree for three years, but in vain. God is a graceful God, He is persevering towards each of us. He trusts in us, thus always thinking the best about us. Even though, God is not willing us to perceive His perseverance and grace as hesitation. He is not happy when we neglect His grace or misuse His perseverance.

It’s God who said:

«… My Spirit will not strive with man forever,…» (Genesis 6:3).

He is also saying:

« The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up . ..» (2nd Peter 3:9-10).

God is not willing our death. He perseveres waiting for our repentance, so that He can save us from perish and judgement. However, the day of the Lord is coming, the day when God does not permit us to neglect His Spirit any more, the day when He is stops letting us misuse His grace and perseverance.

« Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgement of God; who “will pay back to everyone according to their works” ». (Romans 2:4-6).

Dear friend, God has been waiting you for so long. He’s been waiting until you repent and receive Jesus as the Lord of your life. There are so many years of your life have walked past. All these years you’ve been bearing only wild fruits to God. Now you are saved! How long God should wait more until you begin bear sweet fruits for His Kingdom? This is a serious call to everybody who has not thought about the kind of fruit he is bearing for the Lord yet. Dear friends, reason about it before it’s too late, time is running out. The Judgement day, the day of God’s anger is coming.

May the Lord give us understanding of this question!

See you tomorrow!

God’s peace be with you!

Rufus Adjiboje, pastor
«Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away …» (John 15:2).

Gospel of Matthew contains the story about fig tree.
