What is the purpose of the Christian life?
The Christian life is about relationship and not about religion or religious activities. Since the rebellion of the first man, man lost two things, – He lost relationship with God and he lost his purpose of existence.God created us in His own image for fellowship, but because of sin, that relationship was broken. This is the reason why Jesus came to the earth, – to restore man back to God in fellowship and to his original purpose. Relationship is the heart of the gospel and of the Christian life. This is the content of the following passage of the bible: 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God”. So the purpose of the Christian life is to grow stronger in our relationship with God and fulfill the purpose of God on the earth, to be his ambassadors and to bring others to the knowledge of God.
