Love means having fellowship and spending time together!

Greetings to you, my friends! Mercy and peace from God Father and our Lord Jesus Christ be with you! I am glad to see you have found the time to visit our column “Daily word for spiritual strength” so you gain wisdom hidden in the word of God. The Word puts light on our life. As David sang in one of his psalms:
«For you will light my lamp, Yahweh. My God will light up my darkness.» (Psalm 18:28).
Let Him talk to your heart today. We keep on talking about how we can experience God´s presence, power and His mercy in our life. Yesterday we stated that constant fellowship with God is mandatory in order to experience these things. We quoted many verses from Scripture telling us that people who love God have obvious advantages. For such people God has prepared many pleasant surprises and all things together work for good in their lives and God Himself appears to them.
«We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.» (Romans 8:28).
Person who loves God is always determined to fulfil God´s will regardless of the situation in his life. When Paul was cast into prison, he found the opportunity to share Gospel and experience the power of God even there. He turned his tragedy into a victory for the Lord. The problem itself turned into blessing for Paul and those around him.
«Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the gospel; so that it became evident to the whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ; and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.» (Philippians 1:12-14).
God could do His great feats through Paul, because Paul loved God thus spending a lot of time to have fellowship with Him. Love means having fellowship and spending time together. We have been created fro love and fellowship with God. More than anything He wants us to love Him with all the whole essence. God initiated our relationships with Him. First of all, God sent Jesus to suffer, so we could restore the fellowship with Him. Now, when it´s already happened, the relationships with God have to become personal and intimate. If there is no order in our relationships with God, our whole life will be a chaos, so everything in it will be set the wrong way. Consequently, fellowship with God softens your heart making it sensitive, so that you learn to hear to and collaborate with God. God is still speaking to His people in many different ways. All those who have experienced God and His mercy in their life knew how to listen and recognise His voice. Jesus said to Peter:
«Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven» (Matthew 16:17).
Peter not only submitted himself to the Lord as a living sacrifice, he also learned to hear the voice of the Heavenly Father through frequent fellowship and spending time with Him. Jesus said:
«My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them.» (John 10:27-28).
When we are familiar with the voice of our Heavenly Father and we follow Him, God´s power and mercy will enter our life indeed. It will help us to be in the right place at the right time. As the result there will be tremendous feats for God. God is the sovereign Ruler and the Lord of the harvest. Harvest belongs to Him, not to us, that´s why every ministry should be initiated by Him. God doesn´t invite us to act on our own but to collaborate with Him. Well working communication system is needed to ensure collaboration. We establish that by having fellowship with God. God doesn´t expect us to find a job to do for ourselves then ask Him to bless it. God has already been working when He found you. His plan is to move you from the place where you are now to the place where He is already working. Things God is doing are already blessed. Joining God you automatically enter His blessings. If you seek His face, God will point you at the place where He is is already doing something. This will be your invitation to join Him. God is speaking to people different ways today: through the Holy Spirit and His charisma, through the Bible, through prayers, through circumstances and through the other believers. It´s very important to remember that God uses all these channels at the same time to tell us about the same thing. He acts that way for our sake to make us bold and certain of it´s Him who talks to us. God will reveal His invitation to us, and also the way how to fulfil it the way so that God could be glorified by fulfilling His call in our life. Meanwhile, we can fulfil His will using methods that do not glorify Him at all. When your hear is sensitive to the Holy Spirit, you will know what to do and how to do it the way God can be glorified through us and inside us. God is willing to bless you and people around you abundantly. God desires to turn all of your problems into triumph and victory. In addition He knows how to achieve that and this is what He wants to show to you. You have to learn to hear the voice of your Heavenly Father through your frequent fellowship and spending time with Him.God bless you today!Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

  • The Christian as an ambassador II

After Jesus left the earth and ascended to heaven, He commissioned us to be His ambassadors or the sent ones (His representatives) on the earth. So we must understand and receive a profound revelation concerning the spiritual authority and power that we have in Christ. The Bible says that Christ made us kings and priests in order that we can reign on earth for Him. It is God, our heavenly Father desires that we all to be busy about His business. His business is to reconcile people with Him. God desires to do the work of reconciliation through us – «we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God». He wants us to declare the word of reconciliation. « God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation » (2 Corinthians, 5:19).
  • Never be stopped by problems!

Satan wants to hit our spirit via hardships, trials and problems. When your spirit is strengthened, you can overcome any kind of weakness, get through all kind of hardships and trials. So how can we strengthen our spirit? God´s word and His promises strengthen our spirit and overcome weakness and sufferings. In order to not give up, we need to learn how to lean on the word of God and His promises – fully and unconditionally. We have to learn God´s faithfulness and realise that God will never forsake us unless we abandon Him ourselves.
  • How some people sins caused pain and suffering in other people

«“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.». (Matthew 5:43-45).If only all people lived according to the commandments of love there would be much less pain and tragedies on Earth. There would be much less tears on Earth if people took care for each other instead of seeking their own benefits.
  • Whatever a man sows that shall he also reap

All of life is sowing. Our words are seeds, our actions are also seeds. Even our all your passivity or inactions are also seeds. So, everyday of your life, you are either sowing into the flesh or sowing into the spirit. One way to sow into the spirit is make use of every opportunity to do that which is good towards all men, especially towards them that are of the household of faith.
  • But he who endures to the end shall be saved!

The question arises why so many people start their walk with God but turn aside in one of the crossroads of life; they turn back to where they came from. It reminds me the story of Jewish people. For a long time this nation was in slavery in Egypt. They were burdened by hard work with no payment. The nation of Israel cried out to God, and God delivered them and brought them out of Egypt. They had to walk to the Promised Land. Every day they were getting closer to it. There were difficulties on their way; they had to flee some wrong things, avoid making wrong decisions, wrong relationships; they had to overcome grumbling and complaining. Israelites had to obtain more and more knowledge of God while heading towards their Promised Land.
  • Seek first to do that which is the will of God in all your decisions

If you fear God, the first thing you consider in any decision you make is: “What is God’s will in this matter? What does God say about this issue?” The first question you ask in hard times should never be “How hard is it going to get doing what I am doing” BUT RATHER what is God’s will in this matter?
