Jesus and God´s will

Peace on you dear friends! I am glad about having another opportunity to share the word of wisdom from the Lord with you. The Bible says that wisdom makes the face of a man radiant.
«They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame.» (Psalms 34:5)
God placed us into this world for only one reason – to fulfil His will. Today´s topic is “Jesus and God´s will”. Jesus is our model in everything. He is the Author, the Master and the Maintainer of our faith. Therefore, Jesus set an example for us, so that we can follow his steps.
«For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps» (1 Peter 2:21).
From the very beginning of His life on this Earth Jesus was clearly aware of His goal. He was extraordinary passionate to the business of His Father in His Spirit. There is a story from Jesus childhood in the Bible, it tells us how He was growing and becoming strong in spirit, increasing in wisdom and stature. Jesus had a good reputation both in the eyes of God and in the eyes of people.
«The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him … and Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.» (Luke 2:40,52).
Jesus studied the law of God in order to know everything written in Torah and in prophets. The Gospel of Luke tells us how Jesus interpreted all the prophecies about His coming on Earth starting from the time of Moses and all through the prophets. Later on resurrected from death, Jesus showed Himself up to the two disciples on their way to Emmaus. Those two were reasoning about the recent events related to His death and resurrection. Suddenly, Jesus Himself revealed to them but they didn´t recognise Him.«Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem. They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened. It happened, while they talked and questioned together, that Jesus himself came near, and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. He said to them,
“What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?”» (Luke 24:13-17).
After the disciples had shared their sad stories and disappointment with Jesus, He began to explain in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
«Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn’t see him.” He said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?” Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.» (Luke 24:25- 27).
Those two disciples were mourning about Jesus crucifixion. Even more, they were astonished to hear that women who visited the place where Jesus was buried didn´t find His body, but met angels who announced that Jesus is alive. Jesus wanted to help the disciples to understand that all those things didn´t happen accidentally, but are the fulfilment of God´s will on Earth. For this reason Jesus started with Torah and went through all books of prophets, explaining what was written about Himself. Jesus knew God´s will, because He had studied the Scriptures!Studying the life of Jesus in the New Testament you may notice He exactly carried out the route set for His life by God. Jesus fulfilled every prophecy written about Him long before He was born. How could He know everything about that? Probably because He was the second person of God? Surely not! Jesus clearly understood His mission and His goal, because He had constant fellowship with Father and studied the law of God. It was His life style that made Him know the God´s will for His life. And there is the word of God for you today: follow Jesus in your daily studies of God´s word, so that you can get to know and fulfil the God´s will for your life.Let the good God bless you!See you tomorrow!Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

Was the favour of God accidental in Mordecai’s life? No way! Favour is released and operates according to particular laws. One of these laws is the law of sowing and reaping. If you will be consistent in sowing favour and mercy into the lives of other people you will be sure of favours coming into your life at the very moment you need it the most.
  • The generosity and hospitality that opens doors for God’s intervention

“The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, “If I have found favour in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way – now that you have come to your servant.” “Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.” “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him. “There in the tent,” he said. Then the Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.”
  • Never be stopped by problems!

Satan wants to hit our spirit via hardships, trials and problems. When your spirit is strengthened, you can overcome any kind of weakness, get through all kind of hardships and trials. So how can we strengthen our spirit? God´s word and His promises strengthen our spirit and overcome weakness and sufferings. In order to not give up, we need to learn how to lean on the word of God and His promises – fully and unconditionally. We have to learn God´s faithfulness and realise that God will never forsake us unless we abandon Him ourselves.
  • The Bible calls us to ALWAYS PRAY AND NOT LOSE HEART

The whole world lies in wickedness and darkness, but, looking at the people that have made prayer their priority #1, you realize that – so to speak – they are from another planet; they do not live in darkness because they seem shining. They have problems and their life is not any different, but they approach their problems in a different way and they look forward into the future in a different way. Prayer so alters their lives and strengthens their relationships with God that they do not notice things that others do.
  • The power of compassion

Today I would like to talk about the power of compassion. If we look at the life of Jesus as the image of God – and that is Who Jesus is, – we will see that Jesus was motivated by compassion. When we are moved by compassion, we can’t be idle and barren. Our world is full of problems and God is calling us to work to solve them. We are His representatives on the earth. We are the Body of Christ on earth, so anything that God wants to do here He does through us.Looking at the life of Jesus we see that He never was idle. Every time when He wanted to be alone and relax after long hours of ministry, people would find Him and ask for help. And He never rejected anybody. Many times we read in the Bible: «He had compassion and ministered to them». He went from town to town, because He was anointed to bring solutions where problems were.
  • What is compassion?

We must understand that Jesus’ disciples were not perfect; quite the opposite, they are ordinary people with „character issues”. Jesus did not wait until they become perfect, but sent them out to serve people. He did not have anybody else to send; so He worked with what He had. And He is calling us to do the same today; it applies to every one who considers himself to be His disciple. Jesus desires for God’s children to be filled with compassion and to help people allowing God to touch all the people around them with His love.If we see someone perishing physically because of some illness, we do everything to save him. We often do not realize that unsaved people are spiritually ill, that they are perishing and need salvation. We must do everything in our power to save them. So our hearts need to go out to them with love and compassion.
