Thanksgiving as the basis of worship

May the peace and grace from our Lord Jesus Christ be multiplied in your life on this wonderful day! I pray for the Word of God to penetrate and strengthen your spirit, soul and body. We continue talking about the importance of thanksgiving in the life of a believer. Today I would like to discuss thanksgiving as the basis of worship. Grateful heart is the foundation of worship and godly living. Worship is life that is dedicated to God and it implies close interaction with God. It says in the Bible that God is looking for worshippers:
«But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth» (John, 4:23-24).
God is seeking worshippers; it is not because He is selfish, but because He wants to bless people. Those who know God a little or know about Him know that God is love. He only wants good for people, so He seeks worshippers in order to bless them. There is fullness of life and happiness in the worship of God:
«You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore» (Psalm, 16:11).
Worship contains not only fullness of life, but pleasures as well. Saint Augustine said: “ You created us for Yourself, and our hearts are full of confusion until we find our peace in You!» There is no peace for a human soul outside of God, because man was created to fellowship with God. God said through Prophet Isaiah:
«This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise» (Isaiah, 43:21).
We are created for God; we are created to find pleasure in Him, so outside of Him we won’t ever have real enjoyment.
  • There is no enjoyment in work, no matter how good it is.
  • There is no enjoyment in education, even though it is important.
  • There is no enjoyment in art, even though it affects us.
  • There is no enjoyment in riches, even though wealth plays a significant role in human life.
We can only find true enjoyment and fulfilment in God! King David wrote about it in one of his psalms:
«Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. They only consult to cast him down from his high position; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Surely men of low degree are a vapour, men of high degree are a lie; if they are weighed on the scales, they are altogether lighter than vapour. Do not trust in oppression, nor vainly hope in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart on them. God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; for You render to each one according to his work» (Psalm 62).
God seeks worshippers because through worship God wants to give them peace and fulfilment! So worship is the source of life fulfilment and thanksgiving is the foundation of worship. The lack of gratitude in a person’s heart robs him of the joy of the fellowshipping with God and the joy of ministering to Him.
  • Thanksgiving to God is the reason of ministry!

  • Thanksgiving to God is the reason for sacrificial living!

  • Thanksgiving to God is the core of a holy life!
May God help every one of us to fill our lives with thanksgiving through the truth of His Word! Till tomorrow!May God abundantly bless every one of you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Why we need the favour?

«We have heard with our ears, O God, our father have told us, the deeds You did in their days, in days of old: You drove out the nations with Your hand, but them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favoured them» (Psalm 44:1-3).
  • How to effectively study the Bible II

Sometimes one word in the Bible can be followed as a thread throughout all of the pages of the Book.I once sat down to write a letter to a brother. I prayed and asked God to help me write not just words, but to make it a blessing for this person. As I was writing, I noticed that I had started preaching in the letter. Later I put it aside, because one word had totally consumed my attention. I began to study this word in the Bible. I began studying the phrases like “God is able” and „God can”. I started reading all the verses that contained these phrases. It was so interesting that I totally forgot about the letter. The study of particular Bible words can be very interesting and profitable.
  • How to enter your ministry?

Yesterday we started discussing how we can enter our ministry. We established that, first; we need a strong desire to serve. This desire is tied to our understanding of God’s will and the purpose of our salvation. As we talked about, ministry helps us to reveal our potential. Ministry helps us to find out about ourselves, our calling in the establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth and doing the works that are pleasing to God. God has predestined for us to do particular good works. God desires for us to be fruitful and glorify Him on earth. Through our ministry God wants to fill this earth with the knowledge of Him and His Kingdom. He wants us to establish His principles in every sphere of life and win people for Him by the ministry we do on earth.
  • Faith in Jesus is the only thing that can reverse the consequences of the fall

“And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin” (1 John, 3:5).Jesus came to take our sins; otherwise we would not be able to escape the tragedies, misery and death. Praise God that He sent Jesus into the world! Jesus is the proof of God’s love for us. If God wanted to do us evil, then He would have never sent Jesus to us.
  • Love is spiritual, not physical power

When we walk in love it brings health and strength to our spirits. A strong spirit helps an individual to overcome all sicknesses. But if we give our hearts to hatred, bitterness, revenge, unforgiveness, it undermines our hearts. And when our spirits are weak, we are not able to withstand difficult situation and we fail in life. That is why it says, „who can bear a broken spirit?” Nobody! If you do not walk in love, you get ill, irritated and your hearts is filled with bitterness.
  • The blessedness or beauty of serving others

Today I would like to start discussing about the blessedness or beauty of serving others.Ministry is a widespread concept among believers. In essence, ministry is giving of all things: giving of one’s talents and gifts, one’s knowledge and time, one’s heart and resources. The Kingdom of God is built through such giving. Your church is built by your giving and ministry. It says in the Bible that it is more blessed to give than to receive. God blesses those who serve, so if you want to get to the top of God’s blessedness learn to serve God and people.
