Preparation is a key to effective life!

Good day, dear friends! Thanks to God for this awesome day He granted us with! Thank Him for another opportunity to get filled with His living word! Today I wish to discuss with you a very important topic: “preparation is a key to effective life”. In reality, effective life is impossible without appropriate preparation. Jesus solved the question of effectiveness by preparing Himself for the ministry. There is almost no information about what Jesus had been doing during the first 30 years of His life. Gospels tell us the story about His ministry. Meanwhile, we need to understand that prior to starting His ministry Jesus had been seriously preparing himself for quite a long time.
«The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.» (Luke 2:40).
Jesus was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, developing certain skills and calling Himself to discipline. For example, He regularly communicated with the Father:
«But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.» (Luke 5:15-16).
Jesus often fasted. (see Luke 4:1-16) When people came to Jesus asking for healing, Jesus never rejected them saying He would need to fast for 7 days first and only then pray for their healing. Not like that, He always was in shape, always ready to serve people, because He kept preparing Himself for ministry. The Bible prompts us to be ready at all times:
«But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear.» ( 1 Peter 3:15).
«preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.» (2 Timothy 4:2).
Influential people always work on themselves. God always prepares the vessel He is using. Are you letting Him to prepare yourself? Your future starts today as the following verses of Scripture say:
«Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow Yahweh will do wonders among you.» (Joshua 3:5).
«Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments, and be ready against the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.» (Exodus 19:10-11).
«Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.» (Matthew 6:34).
If you take care for tomorrow, tomorrow will take care for itself. If you skip your preparation for tomorrow today, tomorrow will bring you only bitterness and failure. Today is important! What are doing with your life today? What are you doing with the word of God today? What are you doing with His call today? Commence your self-preparation today, so that your tomorrow can delight you! We will continue tomorrow! Be blessed in the Lord! Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

  • Your gift will make room for you! II

«A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men» (Proverbs, 18: 16).Studying the church history, we see that all of God’s generals didn’t start big. These people used what they had and did whatever they could. They began using the abilities they had. Eventually, their gifts found their place in the Body of Christ and grew into large ministries. For example, Dr. T.L. Osborn saw that people needed salvation, so he started meeting this need to the best of his ability: he started printing little tracts on his printing machine and went door to door leaving them in their post boxes. At the time he couldn’t even imagine that it will lead him to huge international evangelistic ministry that he has today.
  • Worthy Goal for Life II

Yesterday we started talking about our goals. Everyone has them. We discussed that there are worthy and less worthy goals. We also saw that after meeting Christ, Paul devoted his life to Him; earnest expectation of Christ to be glorified in his body and through his life became his main goal in life. It is very important to ascertain for ourselves what our goals are.You and I have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ and we have peace with God. But it is just the beginning. Having been reconciled with God is just the beginning of the Christian walk. What awaits us afterwards? Through faith we gain Access to God’s grace and we expect the glory of God to be progressively revealed in us and through us.
  • Lust brings sin, and sin brings death II

Lust is excessive appetite for something. For example, uncontrollable sexual desire leads to rape, fornication, adultery and different types of sexual perversion. It can also lead to sexual illnesses, sometimes incurable. Moreover, feelings of guilt, depression, suicidal tendencies, breaking up of marriages, sufferings of children, violence, hatred and other similar things are often the result of sexual lust. Lust can also be experienced in the area of finances, drinking or eating. It all has brought pain and suffering to many people in the form of some addiction: alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling, stealing, treachery, murder etc.
  • Concentrate on the reward, not on the pain and discomfort

In order for us to seize the potential advantages that are hidden in pain and sufferings, we must learn the true nature and essence of sufferings. Firstly, our present pains are temporary comparing to eternal torture that awaits every person who lives a life of compromise in pursuit of personal comfort. Secondly, our present pain is light comparing to the glory of God that awaits every person who endures pains with dignity. By going through the temporary sufferings, we gain eternal glory and joy. Temporary sufferings multiply our eternal glory if endured with the right attitude.
  • Not only prayer helps us enter God’s presence, it is a source for godly revelations III

We have been talking about prayer as the source of revelation and guidance in our lives. Yesterday, we saw that through prayer and fellowship with God, Jesus knew what and how He must do or speak. Jesus said,“Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (John 5:19)After Jesus had taught in the temple, He spent nights on the Mount of Olives. There is no doubt, that He met the Father there and they had fellowship, but the next morning He brought a fresh Word for the people who came thirsty to hear this Word.
  • Faith is not when we hold unto the promises of God, but not have any relationships with Him

By loud shouting disobedient Israelites only made their situation worse. It caused their enemies to mobilize and fight against Israelites. Faith is not emotions.Faith is obedience to the voice and word of the Lord.Faith is acting based on obedience and command of the Lord.Faith is positive response of the heart to God’s instructions.Faith is being on the same team with God.
