The Importance of God’s will

Greetings to you, dear friends, on this wonderful day! God’s mercy is renewed for us this morning. It says in the Bible:
«Let everything that has breath praise the LORD» (Psalm, 150:6).
If you are alive and breathing today, – it is because of God’s mercy and it is a sufficient reason to praise and thank Him.Today I would like to start talking about „The Importance of God’s will”. The Holy Scripture says: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven” (Mathew, 7: 21). The Bible calls every one of us to have sound mind, especially in learning the will of God for his or her life.
«Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is» (Ephesians, 5:18).
Why is it so important to allocate some time for seeking out the will of God? Why is understanding of God’s will so necessary for a person? It is because the understanding of God’s will determine both our happiness here, on earth, and our status in the future, in eternity. We all appear on this earth because of God’s will. Thus we do not come here to carry out our plans; we are here to carry out His plans and to do His will. In the Lord’s Prayer there is a phrase: «Not my will, but Yours be done on earth as it is in heaven»; this phrase must be the motivating power for every person who has discovered the meaning of life. Otherwise, he or she will live only for his own purposes and pleasures and eventually will lose everything he has devoted his life to.For the purposes of clarity, I would like to show where there is a difference between God’s plan and God’s will. God’s will is expressed through His commandments that show a person the best way he should follow in his life to be in harmony with God.For example, it is God’s will for us to live a holy life and to be thankful (1 Thessalonians, 5:18).
«For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness» (1 Thessalonians, 4:3-7).
«In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you» (1 Thessalonians, 5:18).
It is God’s will that we should be good and law-abiding citizens of our country and city, thus having an effect on those who resist God.
«Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men» (1 Peter, 2:13-15).
It is the will of God for us to witness to people about God, since we understand that God is “not willing that any should perish…”
«The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance» (2 Peter, 3:9).
It is God’s will that we do not conform to this world but are transformed by the renewal of our mind.
«I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God» (Romans, 12:1-2 ).
It is God’s will of every believer that we are conformed into the image of Jesus Christ.
«For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren» (Romans, 8: 29).
It often says in the Bible that God has a particular plan for every on of us. I have to say that God’s plan for our lives is not revealed to us all at once; usually it happens gradually. God does not reveal to us all the little details of His plan.We will continue about it tomorrow!May God abundantly bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • You won’t have a ministry if you don’t start using what you have now

The topic of our devotion today is “Your gift will make room for you”.We have been talking about how all big things start small, whether it is a known person, great ministry, great accomplishments or great influence. It all starts when a person does what he can do and does it with all his might as unto the Lord with faith and consistency. When one has such attitude towards life he will have his or her reward from the Lord. Such a person will be blessed and exalted by God. His or her gift will make room for him or her in God’s overall picture and the Body of Christ.Person’s gift will make room for him and will bring him before great men, – this is on of the Bible principles; the Bible teaches about it and also it can be seen in the lives of the people in the Bible.
  • We change and become the partakers of God’s nature through the knowledge of God and His promises

«..as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust» (2 Peter, 1:3-4).
  • Compassionate service to others will fill our life with satisfaction and make us happy in the Lord

It is in ministering to others instead of focusing on ourselves that we discover a fulfilled, happy and satisfied life. Life and joy fill our hearts when we see how God meets other people needs through our ministry. When we share our talents with other people through ministry, God also fills us with life.
  • Preparation is a key to effective life!

In reality, effective life is impossible without appropriate preparation. Jesus solved the question of effectiveness by preparing Himself for the ministry. There is almost no information about what Jesus had been doing during the first 30 years of His life. Gospels tell us the story about His ministry. Meanwhile, we need to understand that prior to starting His ministry Jesus had been seriously preparing himself for quite a long time.
  • Worthy Goal for Life

Every person has a goal, whether he talks about it or not. He is driven to do something. But if we talk about goals, it is important to determinewhether it is WORTHY or UNWORTHY. Paul had a worthy goal and talked about it all the time:«…according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
  • The wisdom of repentance II

David talks about the obvious advantages that are available to a person after he has confessed his sins.1. Supernatural freedom from guilt and condemnation.« I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, „I will confess my transgression to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin» (Psalm 32:5). Right after we confess our sins God takes away from us the burden of guilt. When our own hearts condemn us, when we experience the guilt caused by our sins, it is extremely hard to boldly go before Godi n prayer. Feelings of guilt destroy our confidence. So, in order for us to get rid of the guilt we need to repent of our sins.
