What is favour? II

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is so wonderful that God has given us a full manual for wholesome living. Bible is full of principles and instructions for a happy life on the earth, and – the most important – it gives us a guarantee of eternal life. Every wise person not only reads the Bible, but also uses its principles in his daily walk. We started talking about the power of favour. Yesterday we defined the meaning of the word „favour” as ‘secret desire of another person to take part in your life and help you to be ‘the best you’’. Today we will look at why gaining of the favour is so important for securing success in life. Let’s look at the Scripture:
«So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy» (Romans, 9: 16).
Based on this verse of Scripture, we can make the following conclusions:
  • It is not important how fast you will run or how hard you will work; unless God blesses you, your efforts will be futile and bring you no success.
  • Blessing is the secret of obvious success in the Kingdom of God or someone’s personal life.
  • Favour guarantees great attainments in your life. It makes your enemies helpless and opens for you a door to your success.
Would you like to make sure your work is not futile? Would you like to have outstanding success in your life and reach the heights God has set for you? Would you like to see your enemies helpless and lose the battle? Then you desperately need the favour of God.I am praying for the favour of God to be multiplied in your life.Till tomorrow!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Worship the Lord

God wants us to talk to Him the way we talk to our father. Jesus said in His prayer: “… blessed be Thy Name!” The word “bless” means He worshipped the God Father in reverence to Him. Worship prepares our soul to meet the God. It also involves our spirit. Just like in order to listen to a broadcast on the radio you need to tune it up first, worship helps us to turn our spirit on and tune it up on the God´s wave. Jesus taught:«You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve»
  • We multiply our talents by using them and putting them to practise

We have to apply our gifts. We must find for ourselves a place in church, in God’s Kingdom. Your barrenness is nobody’s fault, but yours. Learn to apply your talents and do it well. Whatever you do, do it well to be called a good and faithful servant. The word „faithful” contains deep meaning. You can depend on a faithful servant; he is reliable; he never lets down.
  • What does it mean to fear God?

It means obeying His commandments, knowing who is the real Boss on the top of everything. Fearing God means the acknowledgement of His strength, His magnificence, His power, His holiness and therefore, respect and honour Him.Fear of God is a kind of salubrious fear, not a kind of phobia people needing a psychiatric treatment have. Fearing God we understand that He is going to judge us for our sins and it impacts our deeds.
  • Prayer is our spiritual breathing

Ask God for grace to arrange your life for effective praying. Be honest with yourself today. Is your prayer life effective, or it has turned into fruitless routine? Maybe your really do not have any prayer relationships with God? You alone can answer these questions. We often talk of prayer; we hear of prayer. It makes us think that we know what prayer is. But do we practise praying? We know that prayer is necessary for our spiritual life, just like air is necessary for our physical life. We must be enough diligent and disciplined to pray.
  • Habit is a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness

Knowledge is an understanding of theory of what we have to do and why. In order to make something as your habit you need to understand the theoretical aspects of such necessity. How is it connected to our praying life? Let me explain that. We acquire knowledge by reading the Bible, Word of God. We know why we have to pray, then we can make a habit of praying, just because we know what we have to do. We should pray without ceasing – I know this and so I do why. Let me elaborate on it. Awareness of what I gain or lose by having a particular habit helps us to develop that habit.
