Mercy and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you! Welcome to our column “Daily word for spiritual strength!” Yesterday we stopped at the situation about man born blind, the story from the Gospel of John.
«As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin, nor his parents; but, that the works of God might be revealed in him.» (John 9:1-3).
Jesus said, the blindness of that man had nothing to do with his own sins nor with the sin of his parents neither. The problem was caused by a different source not mentioned by Jesus directly. However, in this case, devil apparently was a source of the blindness. Though, this is exactly why Jesus came into this world that he might destroy the works of the devil and reveal God´s works.
«He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil.» (1st John 3:8).
The devil inflicts pain, steals, murder and annihilate people, but God comes in Christ and manifests His power and mercy. In Christ God heals the sick, forgives sins, restores people lives, frees from curse and obsession by demons. A little later we will discuss the details about devil as a source of distress and sufferings people may have. Today I would like you to note that sins of other people also represent a source of pain and suffering.
Disgrace, illegality and unrighteousness of the people around you can cause our sufferings and make suffer people whom we love. That´s why Christians are to do everything they can in order to share the Gospel with other people. The more true believers are in the world the fewer tragedies and sorrows will take place on Earth. The time of great sorrow will come once all believers are taken away from this world. We already mentioned the necessity to turn people to God as the only way that can help to reduce the level of sufferings on our planet.
«By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.» (Proverbs 11:11).
«When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.» (Proverbs 28:12).
«Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.» (Proverbs 14:34).
All these verses of Scripture prove that only righteous people and their righteousness can bring to our nation delight and happiness instead of sorrow and tragedy. Consequently, preaching the Gospel is one of the tools we can stand against evil, sin and its consequences. Preaching of Gospel is one of the God´s weapons available to every Christian. It can prevail all devil´s tricks.
«and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace» (Ephesians 6:15).
Preaching peace is one of the methods how God crashes satan under our feet, God puts Himself in action when we preach the Gospel.
«And the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.» (Romans 16:20).
We do good to ourselves when testifying and sharing the Gospel with other people.
Summing up all said, other people sins often cause tragedies. Tomorrow we are going to look at some examples from the Bible that show us how some people sins caused suffering to the other people.
See you tomorrow!
God´s peace be with you!
