The importance of walking in the fear of God

Dear Friends! You are welcome again to our daily word for spiritual strength. Today I want to share with you the importance of walking in the fear of God.The Bible teaches that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of God.Until the fear of God is in place, there can’t be any Access to the Spirit of wisdom and revelation from God. The God type of wisdom that makes your face to shine in the dark seasons of life and make your star brighter despite the unfavorable circumstances of life, results from the fear of God.This was the kind of wisdom that made Joseph a success despite all the odds of life and all the unfairness he experienced throughout his life time. This wisdom made him head in slavery instead of being the tail. This wisdom gave him a prominent place in the prison and this wisdom lifted him from the dungeon to the throne in a twinkling of an eye.What was the secret of Joseph’s wisdom?The secret of Joseph wisdom was the fear of God. That was why he told His brothers: „For I fear God”
“And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God” (Genesis 42:18)
Joseph succeeded every where he went because he feared God!What does it means to fear God?
  1. To fear God is to have an inner desire to please Him in all that you do.
  2. It is to love God enough to hate what He hates and love what He loves.
Joseph demonstrated this kind of love for God all the time no matter where he is or his status in life.
  1. While at home with his brethren, Joseph demonstrated the fear of God by refusing to team up with his brothers when they lied to their father and did evil.
  2. He demonstrated the fear of God in slavery by remaining faithful to his boss and by eschewing the evil of fornication.
  3. Joseph demonstrated the fear of God in the prison by serving faithfully and by helping others interpreting their dreams even though his own dream was not yet interpreted.
  4. And finally we saw that in dealing with his brothers, he chose to forgive them because in his own word „he feared God”.
No wonder God blessed him greatly and lifted him up to a place of dignity and honor!Where there is no fear of God, there is no limit to evil (Gen.20: 1; Rom3: 10-18). That is why God is seeking for those who fear Him, – those who reference Him and love Him enough to hate evil. Those are the people He will anoint and bless with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Those are the people God will lift up to position of honour and dignity in life.Do you fear God? Does that reflect at all in your lifestyle and in your language? This is the question God want you to answer today as you meditate on the following scriptures: Ex.18:21; Eccl.8:12; 12: 13; Nehemiah 5: 15; Psalm 34: 11-16.Remember,
 “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him; and he will shew them his covenant” (Psalm 25:14).
May you ever increase in wisdom that comes form the Lord all the days of your life and may your destiny be established through the spirit of wisdom and revelation in Jesus name! Till tomorrow, Pastor Rufus Ajiboye
