God’s purpose for the earth and the role of people in it III

Peace to you, dear readers of „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We continue talking about how important it is for every one of us to realize our role and function in the earth. We saw that God created men in His image and according to His likeness so that we could fellowship with Him – spirit to Spirit. God created us in His image and likeness so that we would be able to accept His nature, holiness, His love and righteousness. God also did that in order for us to be able to walk in the supernatural dimension and to reproduce His nature in other people, thus multiplying and spreading His nature. God wants the earth to be filled with His nature and subjected to Him through His children. Today many people mostly emphasize different manifestations, anointing, gifts, talents and personal development. All of these things are important. But if we neglect the development of God’s character in us and do not make it a priority, if we forget to draw near to God and fellowship with Him, then we are doing not the will of God, but instead carrying out our own will. And as a result we are not able to bring glory to God. Let’s read a passage from Mathew: «You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them» (Matthew, 7:16-20). Here we see that Jesus pointed to the human character as it determines the type of fruit we bear. A person can be focused on fruit (by fruit we mean our actions, physical activities, our visible life), but not have God’s nature developed in him or her. A person can spend his or her energy on developing different personal qualities and doing works that appear good, but not have godly character. Without God’s nature in us we won’t ever be able to bear good fruit. A tree bears good fruit if its nature is good. God speaks a lot about our lives using the symbol of a tree. If I the root system of a tree is rotten, the whole tree too and the fruit it bears will be bad as well. So before getting to ‘work for God’, we should concentrate on building God’s character into our root system. That is the reason why God created us in His image and according to His likeness before he ever asked us to do anything. As we read further in Matthew 7, Jesus continues to say: «Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness! » (Matthew, 7:21-23). Jesus says that human activities might appear beautiful, anointed and praiseworthy. But that is not what impresses God the most. The most important and impressive thing to God is not our action but the nature from which we are operating. By the way, it is not us that heal or prophesy or cast out demons, – God does all of it through us. It is a lot easier to demonstrate the power and authority of God, than it is show love to our neighbors. Love is what God expects of us. God tells us to love one another. Do you love the people he has asked you to love or are you just boasting of the things that God is doing through you by His sovereign grace? The gifts of the Spirit are what God’s Spirit does through us. However, when we identify ourselves with God and allow His love to move us, then we are able to spread His life around us; then we are able to rule and reign on earth. We will continue tomorrow! May God bless every one of you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

The question arises why so many people start their walk with God but turn aside in one of the crossroads of life; they turn back to where they came from. It reminds me the story of Jewish people. For a long time this nation was in slavery in Egypt. They were burdened by hard work with no payment. The nation of Israel cried out to God, and God delivered them and brought them out of Egypt. They had to walk to the Promised Land. Every day they were getting closer to it. There were difficulties on their way; they had to flee some wrong things, avoid making wrong decisions, wrong relationships; they had to overcome grumbling and complaining. Israelites had to obtain more and more knowledge of God while heading towards their Promised Land.
  • Presence of God II

How can we experience God’s presence in our lives?Possibly, there are several ways to do it, but it is very important to realize that it is impossible to experience God’s presence without prayer. God left the recipe of how to experience His presence in His Word.«Draw near to God and He will draw near to you» (James, 4:8а)
  • God has appointed every one of us for the ministry, so that all of us would grow into Him!

Jesus must be the centre of everything. Every member does its share and then the Body grows in the love of God and every one enjoys and benefits from it. We will all enjoy the Church, if every one of us does his or her part to the best of our abilities. I need to do only what I am able to do and not worry about what I do not have and what I cannot do, – otherwise i will be crush under such burden. I must only concentrate my attention on how to multiply my talents.
  • The importance of favouring the Kingdom of God II

«..being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ» (Philippians, 1:6).Why was Paul so confident that the Lord will complete the good work He has begun in the lives of believers? If you pay careful attention to the context, you will see that his confidence is based upon the attitude of these people towards the work of God.In the beginning of his letter Paul said that these people had been preaching the Gospel from the very beginning of their walk with God.
  • Greatness starts with little things!

Begin using the little things you have and be faithful and consistent in it; then you will be surprised to see what can grow out of it. The seed of greatness is in every person right now. But this seed will grow and bring harvest only if you will plant it and use it according to its original purpose.«A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time» (Isaiah, 60:22).
  • The best and most influential sermon we can ever preach is the message of our lives

My life preaches even when I don’t know about it. This is why it is so important to be changed so that our lives reflect what we say and comply with it. Our lives must be our loudest sermon and not our words. It is the will of God for us.God changes us not only through trials and hardships, but also through His grace and mercy.
