The things that you are ready to sacrifice or give up will determine what will come into your life

Peace to you, dear children of God!This is the day the Lord has made. He tells us to rejoice and be glad today. I pray that this day overflows with peace of God and blessings in all your undertakings. Continuing the overview of the life of Abraham, I would like us to look at another principle that became a source of many God’s blessings for Abraham.This principle says: the things that you are ready to sacrifice or give up will determine what will come into your life. The things you are ready to part with will determine what will come into your life.  Yesterday we saw that God had asked Abram to leave his country, his father’s house and his relatives and to go to the land that He would show.
“Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you” (Genesis, 12:1).
Abram was ready to obey God, so God was able to bless him abundantly. Abram was prepared to part with his country, and God gave him a much better land. The very thing you are ready to part with will determine what is going to come into your life. Talking about this principle, Jesus said that everyone that is ready to forsake his life will gain it, but the one who holds on to his life will lose it.
„For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it” (Mathew, 16:25).
Jesus repeated this truth in John (12:24), saying: 
 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; buti f it dies, it producēs much grain”.
The idea of this verse is extremely important. Abram lived in accordance with this principle, and that is why God could bless him. When we look at Abram’s life we see that he was not holding on to anything and was not attached to anything, except God. Abram held onto God alone, and it was proof of his faith and trust in God. I would like you to notice several moments in the life of Abram and see how he followed this principle:
  • When God told Abram to leave his house, his relatives and his city, he did it right away (Genesis, 12: 1-4).
  • Further, in chapter 13 of Genesis we find that there was a disagreement between Abram’s and Lot’s servants and because of it Abram and Lot had to part ways. Abram let Lot pick a land. Lot chose appearantly better pastures, leaving Abram a land that was worse. (Genesis, 13: 8-12).
  • In Genesis 14 we read that Lot and his household were taken captive. It was Abram and his people that went to deliver Lot. When Abram succeded, he refused to accept any goods of defeated kings, besides what belonged to him and Lot. Abram believed that God was able to provide for him and make him prosperous, because Abram had complete trust in the Lord. (Genesis, 14: 21-24).
  • Returning from war Abram met the priest of the Most High God whom he gave the tithe of everything he had. And it happen long before God had established the law of tithing (Genesis, 14: 17-20).
Abram was a very generous man that was always ready to part with his earthly possessions. That is why God blessed him abundantly. The Bible says that Abram lived on this earth as a foreigner (Hebrews, 11: 9-10). He had a stronger connection with heaven than with the earth, and for this reason he was not attached to anything or anybody on this earth and God could bless him. Dear friend, God wants to tell you that if you desire for God to bless you, you must be ready to part with all the things that God will point out. If you let this principle penetrate your heart, if you start living according to it and be generous, then God will surely bless you.Until tomorrow! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

    It would not be hard for God to give you what you are asking for; it is a lot harder to cause changes in you and your character. Humans tend to be so ungrateful. The people of Israel were wandering through the desert; they called out to God, He answered them, but it did not change them. Afterwards, when a different problem came they called out to God again, and He answered them and gave what they had asked for. Nevertheless, their hearts remained unchanged. God can answer your prayers again and again, but it is not a guarantee of permanent changes in your life. Quite often God allows certain situations in our lives that help us to grow spiritually.

  • Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth

    “Put to death your body”- means letting the resurrected life that dwells in you spring its roots. By feeding our old sinful nature we strengthen it and as a result of this the sinful nature prevails the resurrected life inside us. In opposite, when thinking about things that are above ans seeking those things we enable ourselves to celebrate a victory over sin and the old nature.Quite often, when somebody hears that he has to put his body to death he says to himself: “I can´t do it!” This is the voice of your old nature. Though, let me share the good news with you – the Bible says, when Christ reveals Himself so will you in His glory, and your new life will be transformed into abundant life. If we have fellowship with God, seek things that are above and reason about Him, then Christ will definitely reveal Himself in our life.

  • Value God’s Word! IV

    Today I would like to continue talking about the importance of God’s Word.We saw what God spoke through Moses that God’s Word is our life. We also talked about the fact that our attitude towards the Word can either prolong our life or shorten it. We have already seen in the parables of Jesus that our attitude towards God’s Word determines the strength of our foundation, our life and all the things we are building. Yesterday we also talked about the fact that God’s Word is able to change our disappointments into joy, bankruptcy – into abundance. We saw all of it in the life of Peter. I would like for us to look at the verses that talk about Peter when he was utterly failing and ready to give up.

  • We are the new creation in Christ Jesus, made for good deeds the Lord has determined for us II

    «For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.»(Ephesians 2:8-10).Here we can see that person is not made righteous by his deeds. God never declares somebody righteous by his many good works. Vice verse, God makes righteous those who accept His gift by faith, namely Christ Jesus. A person becomes good in God´s eyes by faith when he believes in good works God has done in Christ.

    The way that Jesus will lead us on won’t always be smooth and easy. The Bible tells us that Jesus Himself endured the hostility, the cross and the shame. It means that Jesus will also lead us through the valleys of death and tears; this way is not pleasant and desired, but it is good for us, because God only knows what we need. The disciples followed Jesus not only when He spoke pleasantries, but also when He rebuked or corrected them. They followed Him even when they did not understand the true meaning of His words. The simply trusted His wisdom.
