Value God’s Word!

I greet you, dear friends, and welcome you to our „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”.Today I would like to talk about the importance of God’s Word in our lives. And I would like to draw your attention to a passage from the Book of Deuteronomy (32:45-47):
«Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe – all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.»
I want to remind you that this was one of the last things Moses said before his death. Moses brought the people of Israel out of Egypt, then they wandered through the dessert and now they were about to cross Jordan in order to possess the land God had promised them. Earlier on, Moses had given the nation of Israel a serious instruction; he reminded them of the law, the conditions of the covenant and everything that God had spoken to them about. And in these verses we see that Moses tried hard to let people understand how vitally important it is to accept the Word of God with all soberness and deep respect.Today God wants to tell us the same thing. The Word of God is life to us. When God sends us His Word, He offers us life. Rejecting the Word of God we reject life itself. Moses says about God’s Word: «For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life…»It is extremely important for us to appreciate the Word of God and not to treat it as something futile, – it is not like a song that we have listened to and then gone to do our own will. It should be to us like the greatest treasure. We have to value God’s Word, to hide it in our hearts, to appreciate it because it is life to us. God says that through the Word and through our right attitude towards it we can extend or prolong our days. Our attitude toward the Word determines whether we will extend our life or shorten it.The Bible has a lot to say about things that prolong our lives. For example, it says that honoring one’s parents is a commandment with promise, – so that we live a long life on this earth. Secondly, the way we treat God’s Word can extend our life. By the way, the commandment to honor parents is written in the Word, and our attitude towards it determines the length of our days and the quality of them.
“Honor your father and your mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth” (Ephesians, 6:2-3).
So, a person’s attitude towards the Word decides if he will live an abundant life, a long life, if he will obtain the promises God has for him.The word of God for you today is: value God’s Word! Let the Word never be futile for you, let it never become just an ordinary word to you; let it be for you the greatest treasure.Be blessed! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

Nevertheless, there are four possible God´s answers to the right prayer said by the right person.First answer – we pray and receive an immediate answer. It works this way in the life of newly born Christians, but not only. Also Peter received an immediate answer to his prayer. He called to the Lord for help when he started to drown, and the answer came immediately – Jesus stretched His hand to save Peter´s life.
  • Habit is a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness

Knowledge is an understanding of theory of what we have to do and why. In order to make something as your habit you need to understand the theoretical aspects of such necessity. How is it connected to our praying life? Let me explain that. We acquire knowledge by reading the Bible, Word of God. We know why we have to pray, then we can make a habit of praying, just because we know what we have to do. We should pray without ceasing – I know this and so I do why. Let me elaborate on it. Awareness of what I gain or lose by having a particular habit helps us to develop that habit.
