What is favour? II

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!It is so wonderful that God has given us a full manual for wholesome living. Bible is full of principles and instructions for a happy life on the earth, and – the most important – it gives us a guarantee of eternal life. Every wise person not only reads the Bible, but also uses its principles in his daily walk. We started talking about the power of favour. Yesterday we defined the meaning of the word „favour” as ‘secret desire of another person to take part in your life and help you to be ‘the best you’’. Today we will look at why gaining of the favour is so important for securing success in life. Let’s look at the Scripture:
«So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy» (Romans, 9: 16).
Based on this verse of Scripture, we can make the following conclusions:
  • It is not important how fast you will run or how hard you will work; unless God blesses you, your efforts will be futile and bring you no success.
  • Blessing is the secret of obvious success in the Kingdom of God or someone’s personal life.
  • Favour guarantees great attainments in your life. It makes your enemies helpless and opens for you a door to your success.
Would you like to make sure your work is not futile? Would you like to have outstanding success in your life and reach the heights God has set for you? Would you like to see your enemies helpless and lose the battle?     «For if we judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world» (1 Corinthians, 11:31-32).So God chastises His children not for His own pleasure, but for our correction and for us to participate in His holiness. God does that in order for us to bring forth the peaceful fruit of righteousness and not to be condemned with the world.

    Prayer is the living breath of heaven. As believers, we can be givers and can be involved in many important activities; nevertheless, without prayer all this ‘work’ will lack the heavenly breath of life. Take a look at artificial flowers: they are beautiful, but have no aroma. We are able to do good works without prayer; but we have to realize that our works will lack the aroma of life, the footprints of heaven. If these flowers were alive, then they would smell.

    Yesterday we started talking about our goals. Everyone has them. We discussed that there are worthy and less worthy goals. We also saw that after meeting Christ, Paul devoted his life to Him; earnest expectation of Christ to be glorified in his body and through his life became his main goal in life. It is very important to ascertain for ourselves what our goals are.You and I have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ and we have peace with God. But it is just the beginning. Having been reconciled with God is just the beginning of the Christian walk. What awaits us afterwards? Through faith we gain Access to God’s grace and we expect the glory of God to be progressively revealed in us and through us.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known». (1st Corinthians 13:9-12).
