How can we experience God in our life? III

Greetings to you, my friends! Mercy and peace from God Father and our Lord Jesus Christ be with you! I am glad to see you have found the time to visit our column “Daily word for spiritual strength” so you gain wisdom hidden in the word of God. The Word puts light on our life. As David sang in one of his psalms: «For you will light my lamp, Yahweh. My God will light up my darkness.» (Psalm 18:28).Let Him talk to your heart today. We keep on talking about how we can experience God´s presence, power and His mercy in our life. Yesterday we stated that constant fellowship with God is mandatory in order to experience these things. We quoted many verses from Scripture telling us that people who love God have obvious advantages. For such people God has prepared many pleasant surprises and all things together work for good in their lives and God Himself appears to them. «We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.» (Romans 8:28). Person who loves God is always determined to fulfil God´s will regardless of the situation in his life. When Paul was cast into prison, he found the opportunity to share Gospel and experience the power of God even there. He turned his tragedy into a victory for the Lord. The problem itself turned into blessing for Paul and those around him.«Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the gospel; so that it became evident to the whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ; and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.»(Philippians 1:12-14). God could do His great feats through Paul, because Paul loved God thus spending a lot of time to have fellowship with Him. Love means having fellowship and spending time together. We have been created fro love and fellowship with God. More than anything He wants us to love Him with all the whole essence. God initiated our relationships with Him. First of all, God sent Jesus to suffer, so we could restore the fellowship with Him. Now, when it´s already happened, the relationships with God have to become personal and intimate. If there is no order in our relationships with God, our whole life will be a chaos, so everything in it will be set the wrong way. Consequently, fellowship with God softens your heart making it sensitive, so that you learn to hear to and collaborate with God. God is still speaking to His people in many different ways. All those who have experienced God and His mercy in their life knew how to listen and recognise His voice. Jesus said to Peter: «Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven» (Matthew 16:17).Peter not only submitted himself to the Lord as a living sacrifice, he also learned to hear the voice of the Heavenly Father through frequent fellowship and spending time with Him. Jesus said: «My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them.» (John 10:27-28). When we are familiar with the voice of our Heavenly Father and we follow Him, God´s power and mercy will enter our life indeed. It will help us to be in the right place at the right time. As the result there will be tremendous feats for God. God is the sovereign Ruler and the Lord of the harvest. Harvest belongs to Him, not to us, that´s why every ministry should be initiated by Him. God doesn´t invite us to act on our own but to collaborate with Him. Well working communication system is needed to ensure collaboration. We establish that by having fellowship with God. God doesn´t expect us to find a job to do for ourselves then ask Him to bless it. God has already been working when He found you. His plan is to move you from the place where you are now to the place where He is already working. Things God is doing are already blessed. Joining God you automatically enter His blessings. If you seek His face, God will point you at the place where He is is already doing something. This will be your invitation to join Him. God is speaking to people different ways today: through the Holy Spirit and His charisma, through the Bible, through prayers, through circumstances and through the other believers. It´s very important to remember that God uses all these channels at the same time to tell us about the same thing. He acts that way for our sake to make us bold and certain of it´s Him who talks to us. God will reveal His invitation to us, and also the way how to fulfil it the way so that God could be glorified by fulfilling His call in our life. Meanwhile, we can fulfil His will using methods that do not glorify Him at all. When your hear is sensitive to the Holy Spirit, you will know what to do and how to do it the way God can be glorified through us and inside us. God is willing to bless you and people around you abundantly. God desires to turn all of your problems into triumph and victory. In addition He knows how to achieve that and this is what He wants to show to you. You have to learn to hear the voice of your Heavenly Father through your frequent fellowship and spending time with Him. God bless you today! Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

  • The Church of Jesus Christ is a place of accountability!

We walk not just before God, but also before one another. When we are willing to do the things the Bible tells us to it allows us to change and grow spiritually. We established that churches are usually divided into small groups (or home groups) so that people can care for one another more effectively. In order to receive the things we need to lead a healthy spiritual life it is important to be ‘an open book’. Then other people are able to watch and study you. If you are ‘closed up’ for other people, then you won’t receive the help you need through the home group meetings.
  • Why we need the favour?

«We have heard with our ears, O God, our father have told us, the deeds You did in their days, in days of old: You drove out the nations with Your hand, but them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favoured them» (Psalm 44:1-3).
  • Preparation of the way of the Lord II

Yesterday we started talking about God’s desire to demonstrate His glory and fullness in our lives; for this to happen we have to prepare our hearts and to prepare the way of the Lord. We have to cleanse our hearts from the things that God hates and cannot look upon. The following verses from the Scripture reveal the principle of preparation the way of the Lord.«In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; make His paths straight.’”» (Mathew, 3:1-3).
  • What we sow is what we reap

But it is also important to note that we reap a lot more than we sow. Without sowing we don’t reap at all. If you want to become great and bring fruit in the kingdom of God, if you desire for your life to have godly influence over other people, then you have to sow your life into others. There are no short cuts to greatness and true influence. It would be foolish to expect greatness, multiplication and fruitfulness without sowing. That would be deception!
  • Do not be afraid to work; do not be afraid to sacrifice your time to the Lord! II

Don’t be ashamed of what you have. God has given you those particular talents for you to multiply them, not to hide them. Do not waste your strength on hiding from your calling. Let your talents be visible to others. The talents you possess do not actually belong to you; they belong to the Lord. So, if you are ashamed to use them, it means you are ashamed of the Lord Himself.
