God calls each of us to do good works in Jesus Name

Peace and mercy be multiplied in your life by our Lord, Jesus Christ! I believe the word I am sharing with you in this column strengthens you and helps you to continue your journey to life everlasting.Yesterday we came to conclusion that we are created to glorify God by our good works not only by our tongue. God invites all those who believe in Him to be zealous for good works, since it pleases God and people around.
«But when the kindness of God our Saviour and his love toward mankind appeared, not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, which he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;» (Titus 3:4-8).
God gives us blessings abundantly, so that we can meet all our needs but also to be zealous for every good work.
«And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.»(2nd Corinthians 9:8).
Jesus praised the woman that did a good job for Him by anointing His feet. Thus, Jesus showed us that good works are His will for each of us.
«While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard— very costly. She broke the jar, and poured it over his head. But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, “Why has this ointment been wasted? For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and given to the poor.” They grumbled against her. But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me. She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying. Most assuredly I tell you, wherever this gospel may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her.”». (Mark 14:3-9).
Did you notice what Jesus said about that woman?Firstly, He said: «She has done a good work for me».God calls each of us to do good works in Jesus Name.Secondly, Jesus said: «She has done what she could».To do good work means doing what you can do. God never asks you to do something above your abilities. When God asks you to do something, He definitely gives you a supernatural power and capabilities. Do not think of what you cannot accomplish, better do what you can manage then God will lead you into your promised land. Wherever you are, use every opportunity to do what you can do, so you learn doing good works for Jesus then.Thirdly, Jesus said: «wherever this gospel may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her».Here Jesus is saying that the only way we can leave a memorial of ourselves in the Kingdom of God and on Earth is to fulfil our purpose and do good works. Either people will remember the problems you have solved or the problems you have created.Good fame and pleasant memories will stay with those whose hands do whatever they can do in Christ, thus, do good works for Jesus.Let this day be filled with your good works done for Christ!Peace on you!Rufus Adjiboje, pastor

  • Be faithful in small things; then God will set you over many things!

The Lord is coming again! And this parable is prophetic. Jesus is our Lord and He is returning! When He comes back, He will reward every person as he or she deserves. Jesus also will condemn those who deserve it. Verse 19 says that the master came „after a long time”. It means that Jesus is coming at the time when He won’t be expected. But it also means we need to be alert. We must be alert!
  • There are three main types of believers: observers, consumers/users and servants

For several days we have been discussing the blessedness of ministry. We established that through ministry we become entitled for continuous flow of God’s mercy. Ministry to others always fills our lives with blessings. But we shouldn’t be motivated by the desire to get God’s blessings; our motive is love for God and people which God sends into your life. There are three main types of believers: observers, consumers/users and servants. What type of a believer are you? What are you: an observer, a user or a servant? Today we will attempt to establish what distinguishes observers and consumers from servants.
  • The counselling III

One of the ways we make ourselves qualified is to learn to listen to people, listen to their hearts and feelings; only then we can really help them.Besides, we must be ready to show the problem from a different perspective. It is not satisfactory to point out person’s problem or his or her mistakes; we must be able to highlight how his or her present lifestyle or approach to life has caused the problem.Today I would like us to look at another passage of Scripture.
  • You cannot multiply what you do not sow

We are still talking about necessity to use the gifts that have been given to us by the Lord. Jesus wants every person to be faithful in little things and then God will place such a person over greater things. God presents everyone with opportunities to start serving Him and bringing forth fruit for God’s Kingdom. You cannot multiply what you do not sow.In the Gospel of Mathew Jesus told a parable about Master giving his servants different talents.
  • Everything that gets into God’s hands multiplies

For several days now we have been discussing the how the gift when it is used makes room for us and takes us before great people. When the gift is used it broadens our possibilities and destroys limitations. Thank God for creating us just the way we are.Dear friend, you have been given the things you need to start your supernatural ministry. Do not view your gift as being something small and insignificant. When Jesus told His disciples to feed the multitude, they argued with Him, saying: “We have here only five loaves and two fish”. I guess the disciples expected Jesus to say: «Oh, yes! Then let the people go, because we don’t have enough for everyone!» But Jesus did not say that. He managed to feel the multitude of people because one little boy gave back to the Lord the little he had.
