We can understand God and spiritual things by the spirit

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We discussed that the Bible is profitable for every one of us – for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. Doctrine shows us the right path. Reproof shows us we have gotten off the right path and when and where it happened. Correction tells us how to get back on track. Instruction in righteousness shows how to stay on the right path again. Through His Word God desires to give us direction in life:
«Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path» (Psalm, 119:105).
God’s Word is a light for me. By reading it I move towards light; it gives light to my steps. I get enlightened by God. God’s Word illuminates our path and brings clarity and direction to our lives. When we read it, clearness comes into our lives. There is so much confusion in the lives of many believers about different life issues. We understand that as believers we cannot live the same way the unbelievers live in this world, because God’s Spirit has inhabited our hearts and we are now the children of God. For this reason we should life in the right way, – the way pleasing to God. But sometimes we simply do not know what is right and what it means to do right. This happens because we do not have understanding in the particular area. And it is God’s Word that serves as God’s instrument which brings light and clarity into our lives:
«For You will light my lamp; the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness» ( Psalm, 18:28).
David is telling us here that he has a lamp. Every one of us has a lamp and this lamb is our human spirit. God is Spirit and He interacts with us on spiritual level. My spirit is the part of me that truly understands me. It is the part that understands God. I cannot understand God through my mind because He is beyond it. We can only understand God and spiritual matters through our spirit, so our spirit is our lamp. God’s Spirit penetrates the depths of our hearts and brings us understanding in our spirit:
« For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God» (1 Corinthians, 2:11).
Without the spirit’s help I cannot even understand myself; I can’t know who I am, why I live and where I am going. The spirit of unbelievers is dead and that is why they do not feel and comprehend spiritual things. They live in total darkness and do not have any understanding of who they are, where they are going, why they work and live etc. It is because their spirit is dead. The Bible says that the human spirit needs light. This light must be lit and only the Lord is able to do that. When my spirit is enlightened and my lamp is burning, I am able to comprehend God’s wisdom and His secrets. The Bible says that these secrets of God help me grow and succeed in all that I do:
«But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God» (1 Corinthians, 2:10).
So many verses of Scripture talk about this. David said that God enlightens his lamp. When the lamp is lit, darkness leaves the path where the person is walking. God did not create us to function in the dark, because darkness is not of God. From the very beginning God separated light from darkness and said: «Let there be light! ». God operates in the light. Every darkness, confusion and uncertainty is not of God. He desires for us to have understanding, clarity and light in our lives, because only when we walk in the light can we have fellowship with Him:
«But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin» (1 John, 1:7).
For this reason God is very interested in lighting our lamps. When and how does God light our lamps? Does He do it when we are asleep? Is it a random act of God or is there a reason and regularity in it? I want to say loud and clear that there are no coincidences and accidents with God. He has a purpose and a plan in everything. God lights our lamps and give us clarity through HIS WORD. May God abundantly bless you today and give you hunger for His Word! Till tomorrow! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • The importance of having the right connection between your evenings and your mornings

What does this tell us? It tells us that God started His day in the evening. It is very important for us to borrow this wisdom from our Heavenly Father. If we get up in the morning and only then start thinking about what we need to do for the day, then we are already starting it in the wrong manner and have already starting too late. The last moment to start your day is the evening of the previous day. In the evening we need to have a composed idea of what we are doing the next day. We need to have a plan for the next day. Before we go to bed we need to have a vision for the next day. If we are too lazy to make any plans for the next day before going to bed then we are heading towards poverty both physical and spiritual. It is crucial for us to accept this wisdom from God to start the day in the evening of the previous day: «So the evening and the morning were the first day».
  • God’s Word is spiritual food

God wants us to be strong and healthy not only physically, but also spiritually. We do not need ‘spiritual fasts’. We can have physical fasts in order to gain spiritual power. But in order to become spiritually strong, we should daily feed on the Word. If you do not do it, you get weaker as a believer; you get weaker in your judgments and in your faith. When we get weaker we must ‘eat’ spiritually; that is what God’s Word is there for: «…as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby» (1 Peter, 2:2).
  • God’s desire for our faith not to be based on the wisdom of man, the wisdom of this age, but on the wisdom of God!

Only God’s wisdom is meant to bring us into the place of glory. The wisdom of God glorifies and exalts us. It is very important for us to open up our hearts and to receive God’s wisdom. Today we often hear about Chinese wisdom, Russian wisdom, Babylonian wisdom etc. But how wonderful it is that we have been given God’s wisdom! The wisdom of God is the highest form of wisdom for all the living. Only this wisdom is able to transform human life, changing it from within (from inside out). That is why God wants our faith to be based on His wisdom and not the wisdom of men.
  • Worthy Goal for Life II

Yesterday we started talking about our goals. Everyone has them. We discussed that there are worthy and less worthy goals. We also saw that after meeting Christ, Paul devoted his life to Him; earnest expectation of Christ to be glorified in his body and through his life became his main goal in life. It is very important to ascertain for ourselves what our goals are.You and I have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ and we have peace with God. But it is just the beginning. Having been reconciled with God is just the beginning of the Christian walk. What awaits us afterwards? Through faith we gain Access to God’s grace and we expect the glory of God to be progressively revealed in us and through us.
  • We win and overcome in life by faith!

There are different levels of problems and trials. Our faith is strengthened by going through trials and difficulties. By faith you can overcome all your obstacles! Why didn’t Jesus answer the woman’s prayer right away? Why did He answer the way He did?1.Jesus wanted her faith to grow. Why doesn’t Jesus answer our prayers right away? Why are there always obstacles on our ways in the search for an answer? Because God desires to build up our faith. That is why every time when we face difficulties that are bigger than us and surpass our abilities, we need to learn to thank God for allowing our faith to grow in these situations.
  • How did Jesus ensure the presence of God in His life?

Why was God with Him? Was it because He was the Son of God? I don’t think so. Don’t forget that Jesus also was the Son of Man. He was born in flesh, was raised in a family, and grew physically, intellectually and spiritually.«And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men» (Luke, 2:52).
