Are you growing in your walk with God?

Hello friends! What a great opportunity to feed on the word of God once again this wonderful day! The word God laid on my heart to share with you today is about growing in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
“But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…” (2 Peter 3: 18)
I feel God wants you to answer the following vital question: Are you growing in your walk with God? It is God desires for every one of His children to continue to grow in their relationship with Him. The reason is obvious from the Bible: until we grow up, we won’t be able to enjoy the privileges God has provided for us as His sons and daughters.
“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: {elements: or, rudiments}” (Galatians 4: 1-3).
The above Scriptures state that unless we grow up, we remain servants instead of enjoying our rights as heirs of God; we remain under the control of the things we ought to dominate and lord over. We come under bondage instead of walking in the freedom of the children of God Jesus became an example for us as to how we ought to be growing in our walk with God. He set His life as an example so that we can follow His foot steps:
“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. …And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2: 40, 52).
Jesus was born as a child, but He grew up and was given to the world as a Son upon whose shoulder was the government of God.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder :”( Isaiah 9:6).
Until we grow up God cannot entrust us with certain level of Kingdom authority. He cannot entrust us with certain resources of His Kingdom.
  • Is there any evidence in your life that you are growing as a Christian?
  • Can God trust you with more of the treasures of His Kingdom?
  • Are you a responsible Christian or are you still childish in you thinking and approach to life?
  • Are you still living under bondage to the things you are commanded to rule over?
  • What are you doing everyday to ensure that you are growing and waxing stronger in the Lord?
Allow the Holy Spirit search light to penetrate your heart as you ponder on these questions today. Please follow the example of Christ today and make some effort to grow up.Remember, until you grow up, you will not be able to enjoy your privileges as sons and daughter of God. May God bless your day with abundant blessings today! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye.

  • The wisdom of repentance II

David talks about the obvious advantages that are available to a person after he has confessed his sins.1. Supernatural freedom from guilt and condemnation.« I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, „I will confess my transgression to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin» (Psalm 32:5). Right after we confess our sins God takes away from us the burden of guilt. When our own hearts condemn us, when we experience the guilt caused by our sins, it is extremely hard to boldly go before Godi n prayer. Feelings of guilt destroy our confidence. So, in order for us to get rid of the guilt we need to repent of our sins.
  • God’s Word is water

God’s Word is treasure we must treat right; through it we have to be established in the eternal life given to us by God. It says in the Bible: «It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter» (Proverbs, 25:2).
  • Not knowing the purpose of things leads to their abuse and then to suffering and pain

In order to live right and to make right decisions we need to obtain knowledge and understanding. When a person’s life is filled with knowledge it is like the sun shining in the darkness.Ignorance gives birth to lust, and lust causes suffering.
  • The changes must start with us

«When I was young my imagination did not know any boundaries. And I wanted to change the whole world. In time I realized that I wouldn’t be able to change the world, so I tried to change my country. When I realized that I wouldn’t be able to change the country, I concentrated on changing my city. But I couldn’t change my city either. So, when I had grown older, I tried to change my family. Now when I am an old man waiting to cross over to the other side I have understood that the only one I could change was me. Suddenly I realized that if I had worked on changing myself I would have been able to really affect my family and then my family and I could have affected the city. Through the changes in the city we could have changed the country and the world”.
  • Not only prayer helps us enter God’s presence, it is a source for godly revelations III

We have been talking about prayer as the source of revelation and guidance in our lives. Yesterday, we saw that through prayer and fellowship with God, Jesus knew what and how He must do or speak. Jesus said,“Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (John 5:19)After Jesus had taught in the temple, He spent nights on the Mount of Olives. There is no doubt, that He met the Father there and they had fellowship, but the next morning He brought a fresh Word for the people who came thirsty to hear this Word.
  • Ministry and giving determines the measure of one’s spiritual growth and maturity

We are still talking about the blessedness of ministry and giving. We discussed that the one who loves God always serves people. Whoever serves people is blessed and exalted by God. God can’t support those that are only concerned with their own well-being and does not have any time for the promotion of the Kingdom of God.Ministry and giving determines the measure of one’s spiritual growth and maturity. It also determines how much I bear a resemblance to Jesus Christ. God wants us to grow spiritually. One of the indications of one’s spiritual growth is how he or she fulfils the needs of others. Such a person not only takes and receives, but also gives. Giving and ministry is one and the same word that determines how much of resemblance to Jesus Christ I bear.
