Does the Lord answer all prayers?

Grace and peace from our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you!Welcome to the column of our «Daily word for spiritual strength».Today´s topic is “does the Lord answer all prayers”?
«If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.» (John 15:7).
There is a God´s promise in this scripture: «whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.» Which one of you had prayed for something but it was not given to you? I guess many of you had, so where is the problem? We often read in the Bible that people prayed and received the answer to their prayers. God Himself told us to pray, and He promised to answer our prayers.
«Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know.» (Jeremiah 33:3).
These two verses from Scripture provide us with two conditions to meet in order to have your prayer answered.Condition nr.1 — if you remain in the Lord. What does it mean to remain in Him? Unless we understand this, no answer to our prayers is guaranteed. To remain in Him means staying in His will whatever it costs. You do not remain in Him if you do not remain in God´s will. I do not do my will while remaining in Him and His will leads me. Jesus proved it with His life on Earth when prayed on the Mount of Olives saying,
“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42).
Denying His own will and choosing Father´s will He Jesus remained in Him.Condition nr.2 — if the God´s word remains in us. And what does this mean in turn? It means, we are filled with and led by the Word of God. When the word of God remains in you, your life and your actions are based on this word. Once a person remains in Christ and God´s word remains in him – such person will always pray according to the God´s will and only ask for the things mentioned in the Bible. His or her prayer will neither be selfish nor proud. Such person is not looking for his own benefits but seeking things that would glorify God instead. Does God reply to all prayers? If we meet those two conditions above, the answer is “Yes”. Only prayers expressed according to His will and by the right person will be answered. There are two reasons why sometimes there is no answer to our prayers. 1) We pray the wrong way. This kind of prayer is oriented on your own pleasures.
«You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.» (James 4:3).
2) Prayer is said by the wrong person. Wrong person is a person without close relationships with God, person seeking his own pleasure. God answers all prayers when we remain in Him, fill ourselves with His word and let the Word lead us in our life. Tomorrow we are going to discuss how God answers our prayers.Be blessed in the name of God!We´ll meet tomorrow!Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

  • Habit is a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness III

If we want to have fruitful prayer life, then prayer must become a habit. In order for that to happen we must gain some skills in the area of prayer. Skill means how we do something. When you know what you need to do and why you need to do it, the next step is HOW to do it. If you don’t know how, this activity can’t become a habit. But you won’t be able to learn how, unless you actually start doing it. I won’t know how to pray, unless I start praying. I am sure we already know very much about prayer. You can put to practice this knowledge that you have. Thus you obtain skills. Skills are developed by putting knowledge to practice.
  • On what does your destiny depend? II

«My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life» (Proverbs, 4:20-23). Based on this Scripture, we can argue that the course of your life, my destiny or yours should not depend on somebody else but on ourselves. You must take charge of your life and destiny!
  • Without certain changes in our lives we won’t be able to receive God’s vision

The first thing God did to Abram was that He took him out of the tent, out of his comfort zone. While we stay within our comfort zone where we feel at ease, where we do not need to make an effort, where everything goes according to the habitual scenario, we are not able to see what God wants to show us. For this reason God often desires us to get out of our comfort zone, out of our routine lifestyle and for us to put forth some effort to expand our knowledge of the will of God for our life.
  • You can prosper under any circumstances all it takes is for you to pay the price for God to be with you

No matter what you do, no matter what your status in life and no matter what your circumstances, if you can have access to the presence of God, you will succeed. Joseph was in slavery, sold to a foreign land by his own blood brothers, but that could not stop his prosperity. What really determine our success or prosperity in life is the presence of God with us. The way might not be easy. The journey might be longer than we think, but if God is with us the way will be decked with the goodness and the favour of God.
  • We have to be ready to go wherever God sends us to

As we concluded yesterday, we have to become obedient disciples, so that our families, our church and our towns can be stirred. God uses obedient disciples to fulfil His prophesies and restore His will on Earth. Even more, we have to be ready to go wherever God sends us to. Thus we can fulfil our calling. Obedience to call begins with obedience to short instructions God gives to us through His word and our leaders in Christ. It´s also important to know that Jesus knows everything, He possesses all hidden information, necessary for our mission. That´s why obedience to the Lord who knows everything is vitally important! When Jesus had a need for a donkey to ride upon to Jerusalem, He knew where to find the animal. He knew where to go and find that donkey. He knew how to bring that donkey to Him.
  • God changing us through discipline

I believe that discipline is one of God’s tools that help us to change and achieve effectiveness in our personal lives and ministry. Every one of us has a dream or a goal for our lives. But however good or grand these plans or desires are, discipline is a necessary prerequisite for these things to come to pass. Many ideas and desires never come true because people lack discipline.
