God wants to be our Friends

Greetings to you, dear brothers and sisters! I am glad to be able to address you with the words of encouragement and edification. We have been talking about the fact that God wants to be our Friends and wants to reveal to us His secrets that bring breakthroughs and exaltation. The Bible says that God called Abram His friend. God came to Abram and said that He cannot hide from him what He has purposed to do:
«And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him”»(Быт.18:17-19)
Jesus said practically the same thing to His disciples: «You are My friends! And what God reveals to Me, I reveal to you»:
«No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you» (John, 15:15).
God saved the children of Israel, brought them out of Egypt, led them by miracles; nevertheless, they did not get to know Him personally. They did not know His voice, – they only knew about Him. The children of Israel knew Him as being the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of their fathers who delivered them, but they did not know Him as a Person. And God told them that He wants to get to know them. Moses heard God because He knew Him personally and knew His ways. God wanted them to hear Him and to see His glory. That is why God brought them to the mountain where He planned to show Himself to them (see Exodus, 19). But they got scared and said that they did not want to hear God anymore; they preferred Moses received messages from God for them. What were the consequences of this decision? They did not know God and His ways for there was no communication between them:
«He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel» (Psalm, 103:7).
When we learn to hear God’s voice, we have communication with Him and we grow into the knowledge of His ways and Him personally. God has so much on His heart that He wants to share with us. God desires to share with us what He is planning to do. It may relate to your life or the lives of your children, or your business, or the situation in the town you live in, or the situation in other places. God also desires to reveal Himself to us. But if we have not learnt to hear His voice, all these things are not available to us. It is not possible to love someone and not be willing to share the secrets of your heart with him or her. God is love and He desires us to know Him on a very deep level. It is only possible when we know God’s voice. We cannot walk with God unless we start hearing and understanding Him. The Bible says that two cannot walk together unless they understand each other:
«Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?» (Amos, 3:3).
We want to walk with God just like Enoch did. But how can one walk with God if we do not see Him? Only through fellowship with Him.
«And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him» (Genesis, 5:24).

«To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out» (John, 10:3).
God wants to have fellowship with each one of us individually, that is why He calls us by name:
«So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle» (Exodus, 33:11).
God desires to talk to us face to face like He talked to Moses. Those are the times when we learn to understand Him. We will continue tomorrow! I wish you abundant God’s blessings! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

«..for You (God) have magnified Your word above all Your name» (Psalm 138:2b).We are the children of God, created in the image and after the likeness of God. If our God takes responsibility for what He has said, He expects the same from us. Besides, He does not mean for us to do it on our own; He has sent to us the Helper, Teacher, Comforter and Advocate – the Holy Spirit to be with us at all times.
  • Each of us is responsible for what we become in life

Taking responsibility for decisions we make in life, no matter what the circumstances are that lead us to these decisions, is one of the most important lessons that we can learn in this life.Human research shows that men and women for different reasons try to escape responsibility for what they are, and they blame other people for their failures.
  • Prayer is submitting to the will of God

When we pray we place ourselves in submission to God’s will for our lives. The very fact that you come to God in prayer is the proof of your submission to God.The Bible tells us to pray always; it is the command of the Lord. That is why when I come to God in prayer then the very act of praying places me in the position of submission to this command. In other words, if I don’t pray, thus I demonstrate the lack of submission to the will of God; because praying is the command of God.
  • Ministry and giving determines the measure of one’s spiritual growth and maturity

We are still talking about the blessedness of ministry and giving. We discussed that the one who loves God always serves people. Whoever serves people is blessed and exalted by God. God can’t support those that are only concerned with their own well-being and does not have any time for the promotion of the Kingdom of God.Ministry and giving determines the measure of one’s spiritual growth and maturity. It also determines how much I bear a resemblance to Jesus Christ. God wants us to grow spiritually. One of the indications of one’s spiritual growth is how he or she fulfils the needs of others. Such a person not only takes and receives, but also gives. Giving and ministry is one and the same word that determines how much of resemblance to Jesus Christ I bear.
  • All great things always start small and insignificant

Yesterday we began talking about how all great things always start small and insignificant. In order to enter the fullness of your calling and ministry, we need to do what is revealed to us today whatever that would be. Your knowledge, your experience and your mind – these are all gifts from God which we can use in serving people. When you serve people with your gifts, then these gifts make room for you. «A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men» (Proverbs, 18: 16).Studying the church history, we see that all of God’s generals didn’t start big. These people used what they had and did whatever they could. They began using the abilities they had. Eventually, their gifts found their place in the Body of Christ and grew into large ministries.
  • If you desire to experience God´s power and His mercy in your life, make fellowship and love to God priorities for your life!

Yesterday we spoke about how we can experience God´s power and mercy in our life. It fully depends on how deep we dedicate ourselves to Him. Once we realise we are not living for ourselves but for One who died for us, we discover the source of the unlimited power and mercy of God.However, submission to God doesn´t mean doing everything that comes to your mind. Contrariwise, it makes us responsible for getting to know what God bears in His heart regarding His will to our life. For this reason you have to submit yourself in whole to the Lord in order to have fellowship with Him as a source of inspiration, freshness and guidance. Everybody who experienced His power in his life and became a tool of His mercy constantly submitted himself to the Lord.
