Habit is a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness III

Welcome, dear friends, to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! I pray that everything in your life would go according to the will of God.We are still talking about prayer. If we want to have fruitful prayer life, then prayer must become a habit. In order for that to happen we must gain some skills in the area of prayer. Skill means how we do something. When you know what you need to do and why you need to do it, the next step is HOW to do it. If you don’t know how, this activity can’t become a habit. But you won’t be able to learn how, unless you actually start doing it. I won’t know how to pray, unless I start praying. I am sure we already know very much about prayer. You can put to practice this knowledge that you have. Thus you obtain skills. Skills are developed by putting knowledge to practice. There is another way to learn how to pray; it is by attending different prayer gatherings. You know, the statistics show that prayer meetings are the least attended church meetings. People rather go to those meetings where there is prayer for healing or prophesy, or casting out demons; by other words, where they are ministered to. Very few people come to the meetings where they are asked to pray. How can we obtain the skill of prayer? We must start praying! We must get together with the people that know how to pray in order to gain some experience.Let’s say, I want to learn to drive; in that case I must learn about driving, but I also must start driving, putting the knowledge to practice. I must get behind the wheel and that is the only way to learn driving. There is no other way. Besides, I must spend some time with a person that is able to teach me and share his experience. There are people that know how to pray, – learn from them, draw from their experience. Skill comes through practice. When you have knowledge + skills + desire, you can develop a habit. Let’s talk about the desire. Desire is something that comes from person’s will. Desire is what so many are lacking. Where do I get it? So often we say, «I know what I need to do, but I just don’t want to. I don’t have the desire to do it or to take part in it». It does not apply to prayer alone. But when you don’t have the desire to pray, it is a sign of serious spiritual illness. The desire to pray is demonstration of spiritual health, a sign of one’s love towards God and close relationships with Him.When Saul (later called Paul) met Jesus and got saved, Jesus came to Ananias and told him to go see Saul. And the first thing He said to Ananias was: «…for behold, he (Saul) is praying». Having met God, Saul developed a strong desire to pray. If you don’t have any desire to pray it is a sign of spiritual illness, and it must alarm you.Prophet Samuel believed that the lack of desire to pray is a sin.
«Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you» (1 Samuel, 12:23).
Many people do not understand it, and consequently they do not see any breakthroughs in their life. If you understand that not praying is the same as sinning and nonetheless you sin, then, first, you need to repent and, second, start praying regularly. Without prayer nobody can enter the Kingdom of God and become a child of God. The understanding that the lack of prayer in your life is sin might help you to rise up and overcome your sin. Prayer is what helps one to become a victor on a daily basis.God bless you!Till tomorrow!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

“The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, “If I have found favour in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way – now that you have come to your servant.” “Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.” “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him. “There in the tent,” he said. Then the Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.”
  • Our life is a product of what we see III

God wants us to cooperate with Him. His future and our future is a great, bright one. But we have to cooperate with Him to make sure this imagined future becomes a reality in our lives. It might be that today you look small in your own eyes, but God wants to give you a great future. And He does not keep us in ignorance about the prospects for the future, and for this very reason He gave us the Holy Spirit. One of the things that the Holy Spirit does is revealing the future God has prepared for us.
  • How can our relationships with other people help us change?

All people need change; we help each other through relationships that we are involved. God alone does not need to change; all the people, on the other side, desperately need to change. We need each other and we help each other to change. If we do not understand it and lose sight of it, then it will be hard for us to build any relationships.
  • Jesus transforms those that follow Him II

In order for me to change I need to follow Jesus. It means I need to follow and submit to His Word and His instructions. It means to spend time with Him to learn His heart and to participate in His mission. To follow Christ also means to imitate Him in all things. It means to react like He reacts, to speak like He speaks, to love what He loves and to hate what He hates.
  • In our lives we must reflect the life, the power and the nature of Christ III

Our ministry is to be the salt and light to our society. God has granted us this ministry, but not because we are better than others. God gave us this ministry because of His mercy. Now as the recipients of God’s mercy we do not have any right to condemn those that do not know God and live under the power of the prince of darkness. God is sending us – His children — into the world to spread the light and reconciliation. While doing this ministry, we should not lose heart; we should not allow anything to stop us. We must be courageous and go forward enduring sorrows as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.
  • Lay hold on eternal life!

«But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses» (1Timothy, 6:11-12).In this passage of Scripture Paul talks about that our Christian life has three aspects: According to it, we must:flee sin;pursue righteousness;fight the good fight of faith.
