Hidden wisdom

Welcome, precious children of God, to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! I pray for the grace of God to fill your life this day. Today I would like to start discussing a new topic: „Hidden treasure” or „Hidden wisdom”. There is wisdom that is revealed and open for some people and continues to open daily; but for some people, this wisdom is like hidden treasure they are not able to enjoy. It is the Word of God that is God’s treasure. Today we will talk about God’s Word and about our attitude towards it. The people that have the Bible have a true treasure at their disposal. We – the children of God — believe God’s Word to be the truth and the true revelation of God to the human race. We believe the Bible to be God’s personal word addressed to each of us. But I have discovered that many people are totally indifferent towards it. We defend the Bible; we try to prove to unbelievers that the Bible is God’s Word. We say that it is important to read it and believe it. But at the same time many believers do not read it and do not treat it as a treasure that it is. There are several reasons that have caused this situation. My purpose today is to help us change our attitude towards the Bible. If we feed on the Word of God, then this Word helps us personally and changes our environment. We know that it is important to read the Bible. But some believers open it only during church services; all the rest of the time it is closed. Yes, we do have such believers. There is another category of believers – those that only read the Bible when they are with other believers. God encouraged me to speak about these things today and to be very stern. We must respect the Bible – the treasure God has entrusted us. We must read it. But it is not whether we know that we should read it. The problem is that we know it but we do not do it. So many people do not read the Bible because they are lazy. Many do not enjoy it, because they do not have the adequate understanding of how to study it. So their every attempt to ready the Bible brings them disappointment. It is like eating the food that is not tasty, – over time it becomes nauseating. In his mind, a person understands that the Bible is God’s Word to him personally; but at the same time he experiences dissatisfaction when he attempts to read it. In time he totally loses the desire to open it. I would like to share with you some ideas that can help you in your study of the Bible. God desires for every believer to enjoy the reading and study of the Bible. He wants us to have good appetite towards it and we would not to spend even one day without the Bible and the joy of reading it. Let’s see what the Bible says about the importance of reading it. Until we understand what the Bible is, there won’t be much sense in doing it. I do not ready it because it is a law for me. I read it because I have the right inner motivation; I have inner stimuli because I understand the significance of the Bible in my life. If a person does not understand it, he is neglectful towards God’s Word; he might only read it when he is ‘in the mood’ for it. But that kind of attitude is not beneficial. My desire is for us to be established in the Word. But a person cannot be established if he only listens to sermons and does not personally study the Holy Scripture. The Bible bids every one of us to study the Scripture:
«You search the Scripture, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me» (John, 5:39).
Everyone that calls himself to be a disciple of Jesus Christ must research the Scripture. In order to do it we must have proper motivation. This motivation originates from the right understanding of why a person must study the Bible. Tomorrow we will discuss what the Bible says about itself and why it is important to study it. I believe it will help us change our attitude towards the Bible and will make us spiritually stronger. God bless you! Till tomorrow! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

«So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’» (Luke, 19:13).This verse clearly states that the master told his servants to do business with the things they were given. The master expected them to get some profit from his ‘investment’.
  • Presence of God V

God so desires for us to seek Him early in the morning. He so desires for us to return to Him. He wants to heal us and to bind up our wounds. God so wants to revive and restore us, so that we could live before Him. When we seek the Lord, when we seek to know Him, He comes and immerses us into His presence; He pours out His rain on us and waters the earth.Yesterday we talked about how Moses set up a tabernacle outside the camp for all seekers of the Lord. We also saw that instead of entering the tabernacle and seeking the face of the Lord, Israelites were simply observing how Moses spoke to God and how God answered Moses.
  • Searching for the meaning of life

Many people ask themselves a question of why they feel inner emptiness. So many continue to walk the wrong way in their lives, and it goes on day after day. They feel their life to be aimless and they continue their walk unmotivated. Multitudes of people do not have a clue of why they live and whether the life is worth living. All of these things happen because they do not have a clear purpose for living. The lack of such a purpose often causes violence, different types of evil, disappointments, emptiness, despair, hopelessness, apathy, anger and so on.
  • You have been created, redeemed and restored! You were born twice!

We are not only created by God, we are also reworked or recreated by Jesus Christ. We are talking about the opportunity available to sinful people because Christ has come into this world. This is exactly what the letter to Ephesians says:«You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.» (Ephesians 2:1-10).
  • God desires to give you true success

As we said before, a successful person is the one who knows what God wants him to do in his life and has dedicated his life for doing God’s will. Human success is not measured by his social status, banc accounts, and influence in society, popularity or fame in this world. True success is measured by how successful he has been in doing God’s will.Think about it today! God desires to give you true success that can be found in learning and doing God’s will for your life. You are the one who determines what to do with your life: either seeking temporary pleasure and enjoyment or seeking the eternal values of God’s Kingdom and His will for your life.
  • Prayer is submitting to the will of God

When we pray we place ourselves in submission to God’s will for our lives. The very fact that you come to God in prayer is the proof of your submission to God.The Bible tells us to pray always; it is the command of the Lord. That is why when I come to God in prayer then the very act of praying places me in the position of submission to this command. In other words, if I don’t pray, thus I demonstrate the lack of submission to the will of God; because praying is the command of God.
