How did Jesus ensure the presence of God in His life?

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ! I pray for the mercy and grace from the Lord to be multiplied in your life this day. May God’s presence fill your life today like never before!

When Jesus Christ was on this earth, He always sought God’s presence, because He wanted to please His Father. This is what the Bible says about Him:

«..how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him» (Acts, 10:38)

God was with Jesus and that is why Jesus was anointed by God’s Holy Spirit and power. Anointing and power follows the presence of the Holy Spirit. There will be no anointing and no power without His presence. For this reason the presence of God is crucial.

How did Jesus ensure the presence of God in His life? Why was God with Him? Was it because He was the Son of God? I don’t think so. Don’t forget that Jesus also was the Son of Man. He was born in flesh, was raised in a family, and grew physically, intellectually and spiritually.

«And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men» (Luke, 2:52).

The secret of God’s presence in the life of Jesus is explained in many verses in the Bible. Let’s look at some of them.

«You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions» (Hebrews, 1:9).

Here we see that the source of His anointing was holiness and love for truth. Jesus sowed Himself into righteousness and reaped mercy. As we have already seen, holiness and godliness help us to draw near to God and ensure His presence in our life. Being effective in prayer requires from us a life of holiness.

«Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. (..) Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all» (Luke, 4:1, 13-15).

We see in these passages that Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit and then He went into wilderness to fast and pray and be alone with God for 40 days. The Bible also tells us how Jesus was filled with the Spirit before He started fasting.

«When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, „You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased”» (Luke, 3:21-22).

Jesus prayed and the Holy Spirit came upon Him.

So we see that God was with Jesus, God anointed Jesus with power not because He was the Son of God, but because Jesus did everything to draw near to God. It is an unchangeable principle for everyone who wants to walk in the presence of God and move in His power. Through prayer Jesus drew near to God and God drew near to Him. Jesus’ prayers were effective and released God’s presence because He added the elements of effectivenes to His prayer: holiness, love for truth and fasting. The influence of Jesus grew and His reputation spread all over the land; He was praised by the people because God was with Him. Jesus was able to help many people, healing them and delivering from the power of Satan, because God was with Him.

You can also walk in God’s presence just like Jesus. In order for that to happen you need to do what Jesus did and then God will always be with you!

Till tomorrow!

  • We have to always choose God´s will

Going through the most difficult ordeal in His life, when Jesus heart was internally struggling whether to accept or to reject God´s will, He proved with His own example that we have to always choose God´s will even if it requires us to go through pain and sufferings.«My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.» (Matthew 26:39).« … Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.» (Luke 22:42)

  • God gives to everyone according to his or her ability II

You have a talent that matches your ability to handle it, and God desires for you to multiply it. It will affect your future. What you have from God today will determine your place in eternity. Your eternal reward will depend on what you have been doing with your talents. You can either bury your talents or multiply them. You can return to God your talent that He gave you, and say to Him that you did not succeed. You can simply complain about your life and not even try changing or accomplish something in your life.or you can invest your talent and expand His kingdom with it, everything depend on you.«After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them» (Mathew, 25:19).

  • What are the benefits of pain and suffering at the time?

Problems draw our attention faster than anything else.Problems can become a spiritual “alarm clock” from God. This is what Job (36:15) points out: “He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression”.In times of prosperity and abundance we hear God as whispering, but in times of pain and suffering we hear Him loud and clear. God has an ability to revive our attention towards His Word and His voice. That is why Solomon says that in times of abundance we should enjoy life, but in times of suffering we should think about our life.

  • Your attitude influences your progress

The judgements, the beliefs, and the convictions of a person influence his attitude and this attitude has an effect on the progress we make. The man in the parable did not multiply his talent because he had the wrong attitude. This man believed lies rather than the truth. That is the lies which many people believe, which become an obstacle to their progress and development. The lies can go something like, “no one loves me”, then any attempt from people to show love towards you, will be rejected. A person believing in lies from the enemy will not be able to accept blessings, help, and advice from others, as all this would be misinterpreted.

  • What else does God use in order to make necessary changes in us?

    1. God changes us through accountability. In order to change us, God often subordinates us to a person we have to give an account to. A person without responsibility is blind to see his own level of arrogance, rebellion and selfishness he has to get over. Accountability is a kind of protection from misbelief and self-deception for us.

  1. Pr. Rufus, i greet you too in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Iam Joseph from Uganda, was studying Hebrews chapter 1 then wanted to do a research on verse 9 thats when i landed on your page, so amazing. A journey of salvation in Christ Jesus is not a bed of roses as many brethren’s think. John 8:31 Our Lord Jesus emphasized on dwelling on His word as wel as 1 Peter 2:2 many scriptures emphasize on that some thing the word of our Lord Jesus Christ thats the only way we can grow and walk as He did but many Christians today want what we call in our country “EASY COME EASY GO ” they never want to stress with the word of God and knowing and understanding Him but want things to work out for them.
I glorify our Lord Jesus Christ for our far He has brought me, just as the scripture says in Luke 19:10 “Christ came to seek and save the lost” He really did fulfill the scripture, had back slid for over 13 years but 2020 ended with joy on my side after turning back to Christ i now feel free, happy and at peace in Christ because He save me from the devils grip was going through a lot of torment in my life being attacked by dark forces, spiritual wives, lived in fear for a while because of what i went through most of the nights but Christ turned things around for me that am LONGER A SLAVE TO FEAR, I AM A CHILD OF GOD now. Victory belongs to Jesus.
