How NOT to give up, when problems and trials are all around III

Mercy and peace to you from our Lord, Jesus Christ!Welcome to our column «Daily word for spiritual strength»! For many days in a row we have been discussing on how to not give up having so many troubles and trials around. As we saw yesterday, problems and going through different trials and situations are a part of everybody´s life. Such knowledge prepares us to overcome all those problems and difficulties.

The following verse of the Scripture confirms this thought:

«No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.» (1 Cor 10:13).

This verse makes obvious, that God wants us to treat temptations, trials and difficulties as an issue commonto every one in this life. Everybody faces temptations, therefore, by no means ever it should caught us of the guard or come to us as a surprise. Instead of being terrified by temptations, problems and difficulties God wants us to focus our attention on His faithfulness and the solution He has prepared for us in each particular situation. Such attitude towards problems and ordeals will help us to overcome them. So what is the role of God in your life while walking through difficult situations.

  • First of all, God ”will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able”. Maybe you don´t even feel that He is keeping all your situations under control but as a matter of fact, He has already set the limit of your hardships. God will not let things, that are above what you can bear, enter your life. You probably underestimate your own strength, but God knows better. When your reasoning is right you prevail over hardships. God will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, so you can overcome all difficulties in life – that´s the idea you should feed your mind with.
  • Second, God not just keeps all your situations under control, but He « … with the temptation also makes the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.» God gives us relief at the time of temptation and grieves, but we need to learn how to receive this relief from Him. That´s why focusing your attention on God and His word is so important, it helps us to easily discover the solution God has prepared for us in each particular case. When in opposite, your attitude is not right, and you are not seeking God, then you will have to lean on your own strength, which is a hard and long way to victory.

May the Lord open your spiritual eyes, so that you can notice and see the solutions He has prepared for you in the different situations of your life.

God´s peace be with you!

  • God gives to everyone according to his or her ability III

God has created us in His image and likeness, and He made us to be His children and He has separated us for Himself. God brought us into His wonderful light, into His Kingdom – through Jesus Christ! God has created us in Christ Jesus for good works, which He has ordained for us to do! This is alone is enough to give us a reason to be greatful to God. None of us deserve all these benefits, but God – because of His great love for us – has done all of these things for us in Jesus Christ. And God gave every one of us gifts and talents, so that we could expand His Kingdom and serve Him with His talents. God promises to bless us abundantly as we work and serve in His Kingdom.
  • Apart from Him there is no true satisfaction and happiness! II

Today we will look at some more areas of Solomon’s life where he tried to find happiness and satisfaction. Many people try to do that. Let’s look at the Scripture.«Therefore I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me, for all is vanity and grasping for the wind. Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me»(Ecclesiastes, 2:16-17).
  • We multiply our talents by using them and putting them to practise

We have to apply our gifts. We must find for ourselves a place in church, in God’s Kingdom. Your barrenness is nobody’s fault, but yours. Learn to apply your talents and do it well. Whatever you do, do it well to be called a good and faithful servant. The word „faithful” contains deep meaning. You can depend on a faithful servant; he is reliable; he never lets down.
  • Rejoice in the Lord! II

Dear friends, God once again delights to tell us to serve Him with gladness. Jesus once told His disciples: «Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven» (Luke, 10:20).If your name has been written in the Book of Life, if you are a child of God, then you are also a co-heir of Christ. And it is more than enough reason to motivate any of us to rejoice and thank God for every day of our lives.
  • In our lives we must reflect the life, the power and the nature of Christ III

Our ministry is to be the salt and light to our society. God has granted us this ministry, but not because we are better than others. God gave us this ministry because of His mercy. Now as the recipients of God’s mercy we do not have any right to condemn those that do not know God and live under the power of the prince of darkness. God is sending us – His children — into the world to spread the light and reconciliation. While doing this ministry, we should not lose heart; we should not allow anything to stop us. We must be courageous and go forward enduring sorrows as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.
  • But he who endures to the end shall be saved!

The question arises why so many people start their walk with God but turn aside in one of the crossroads of life; they turn back to where they came from. It reminds me the story of Jewish people. For a long time this nation was in slavery in Egypt. They were burdened by hard work with no payment. The nation of Israel cried out to God, and God delivered them and brought them out of Egypt. They had to walk to the Promised Land. Every day they were getting closer to it. There were difficulties on their way; they had to flee some wrong things, avoid making wrong decisions, wrong relationships; they had to overcome grumbling and complaining. Israelites had to obtain more and more knowledge of God while heading towards their Promised Land.
