Jesus transforms those that follow Him III

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to the „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We have been talking about God’s desire to see us change and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is very interesting that when we grow other people notice that. I remember the moment when our youngest daughter Esther was born. Her birth brought great joy for your family, because the doctors were concern about her and even advised my wife to do an abortion. When I heard about it I was enraged. I said, “No! We will never do such a thing!” I told the doctor that his calling is to preserve a child’s life and not destroy it. His answer was that in that case it would be our responsibility. My wife and I accepted the challenge. And lo, our daughter was born; her weight was 3.5 kg. After her birth we went to our family doctor every month and observed her to gain weight. It was a sign of her growing. You can imagine how happy we were when the doctor announced that our daughter is fine, that there are no delays in her development and growth. Esther did not just gain weight; she also quickly developed. She started to do things she couldn’t before. And we were so happy about it.We couldn’t wait till the moment she would be able to sit. Time went by and she learnt to sit and to play with her toys. She got her first teeth. She started walking, eating on her own; she spoke her first words, sang and danced. We saw her growing and developing. For some time Esther couldn’t roll over, even though doctors said she should. We as parents were concerned. Can you imagine how concerned God is when He sees us not changing for years? The idea of growth – both physical and spiritual – implies changes. Many believers have been in church for many years, and it would seem they should be at least somewhat grown up, but instead they demand the treatment that of babies. So many should have become teachers and help new believers, but instead they continue to do nothing fruitful. God is not happy with this situation! And, actually, who can be happy with it?I wasn’t happy when the doctors told me that my daughter was showing signs of delayed development. Right away we found a masseuse that could help us. After several sessions our girl rolled over without any assistance and she liked it too. Our joy was indescribable! It is the same with our Heavenly Father: when we grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ it makes Him extremely happy! We must keep God’s call to change right before our eyes as one of the most important goals. As soon as we come to God and enter His Kingdom, the desire to change and grow into the likeness of Jesus should be our single desire and our daily bread. And when we start changing, the things around us will change along with the inward changes we experience. Then the most awful situation will change for better and terrible problems will be solved. All of this will happen along with the transformation of our character in the process of the spiritual growth.
«But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen» (2 Peter, 3:18).
I wish you God’s abundant blessings!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Searching for the meaning of life III

We have been talking about search for the meaning of life. We are using the life of Solomon, the son of David as our example. Solomon was the wisest person on earth. We saw that in the beginning of his life Solomon obtained wisdom and riches, because he loved God and knew Him. But there came a time in his life, when he forsook God and followed other gods. At that time Solomon tried to satisfy his soul with different things; he looked for happiness in different places. Eventually, Solomon realized that it is impossible to be happy and satisfied in this life without God.
  • Jesus transforms those that follow Him II

In order for me to change I need to follow Jesus. It means I need to follow and submit to His Word and His instructions. It means to spend time with Him to learn His heart and to participate in His mission. To follow Christ also means to imitate Him in all things. It means to react like He reacts, to speak like He speaks, to love what He loves and to hate what He hates.
  • Discipline opens the door for success and promotion in our lives!

So, we get different ideas about changing our life, but these ideas do not come to pass automatically. An idea must grow into a desire. Then as a desire grows stronger, a person makes a decision, and that’s when it gets more serious! But many people stop at this point. The thing is that you must go from a decision to some actions. A decision must turn into actions if you want to see any real changes in your life.
  • What sin means?

When a person does not submit to God’s Word and despises His instructions, he or she sins. God has particular plan or will for every area of person’s life and it is spelled out in the Bible. But when you life according to your own wishes and do not pay attention to what God says about it, then tragedies are inevitable. For some time it may seem that you have outsmarted God, but this deceptive feeling won’t last long. These people sat in darkens and the shadow of death; they were bound in grief because they did not submit to God’s Word and despised His will.«Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their souls abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death» (Psalm, 107:17-18).
  • God’s Word being the best means of cleansing for a human heart

God cleanses me through His Word, so I have to be absorbed in it daily. It might seem to you that you are not getting anything out of it, but it is not so. When we read the Word, we receive deep cleansing, just like people get clean when they bathe. It must be done as often as possible so we would stink spiritually. If you start to notice that you are getting quick-tempered, it means you need to wash it off. If you notice your heart closing up, it means you are not reading the Word and missing the cleansing. If you notice things that do not comply with Christian standards, for example, picking a quarrel, it is a sign of not being in the Word enough.
  • You have been created, redeemed and restored! You were born twice!

We are not only created by God, we are also reworked or recreated by Jesus Christ. We are talking about the opportunity available to sinful people because Christ has come into this world. This is exactly what the letter to Ephesians says:«You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.» (Ephesians 2:1-10).
