The person who daily fills his heart with God’s Word has several advantages

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! Yesterday we discussed how we can only understand God and spiritual things by the spirit. But the spirit of man needs light. This light has to be lit, and only the Lord is able to do it. When my spirit is burning, I can comprehend God’s wisdom and His secrets. King David says that God lights his lamp. He also says that God’s Word brings light into his life. If we want to receive God’s directions for our lives, experience the working of Holy Spirit and receive His revelations, we must daily feed on His Word. Through the Word and the reading of it God gives us revelations and that is how it words. I recommend you to read Psalm (18:28-51). Numerous things change in our lives when we receive God’s light:
« The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes » (Psalm, 19:7-8).

«It is God whom arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high laces» (Psalm, 18:32-33).
David says that when he receives the light from God, he becomes strong. In Psalm 18, David lists the advantages of the one whose life is filled with God’s light.
  1. God makes the feet of this person strong as the feet of deer.
This person is able to run and not get weary. When he or she faces an obstacle or a wall, he has the strength to get over it. This thought is profound: the person who is filled with God’s light has power to overcome the difficulties of life. There are no invincible barriers for him. When the light of God comes into the person’s life, God’s wisdom comes with it and helps overcome all obstacles. Let’s remember what happened to the children of Israel when they left Egypt and headed to the Promised Land. They faced a serious problem – the walls of Jericho. Looking through human eyes, these walls were totally invincible. People had no way of moving forward and did not have the understanding of what do in this situation. But when God sends His light, we see the way. When God lights up my darkness, either all obstacles must collapse or I have the power to overcome them. The victories in spiritual battles come when we receive the light of God’s Word. That is why it is so important to read it. We also must understand that these things do not happen ‘over night’. Our whole life we will need God’s Word. Slowly we receive the light, power and wisdom of God, and all these things help us in our lives. So, God’s Word that we hold in our hands is true treasure. It contains everything we need for life and everything we need to succeed in life. When you read God’s Word, you have moral right to pray: «God, light my lamp and drive away the darkness!» When you pray like that, the Holy Spirit is able to remind to particular verses of Scripture that applies to your situation. When you are filled with God’s Word, His light comes into your life. When you do not have the Word, then you can also ask God to drive away the darkness, but it won’t work because God does not have the necessary resources in you. You must make sure that you are full of these resources – God’s Word. If you feel like you do not receive much by reading the Bible, it should not stop you; you must still keep reading. Right after I got saved, I had tremendous hunger for God’s Word. I read it all the time and it was hard for my to lay my Bible down. You might have experienced the same thing. Then later came a moment, when I somehow lost that hunger. It was terrible. I knew that I have to read it, because I had experienced so much joy from reading it. Now I picked the Bible up, opened and read it, but it was all dry and empty; I did not receive anything. In tears I prayed to the Lord to find out what was happening to me. I even thought that I had backslidden. I had no idea what was going on. At that time my eldest brother came to visit me; he noticed my condition and told me: «Be encouraged! Keep reading the Word no matter what». I told him how difficult it had become. He answered that it did not matter. He said that the reading of the Bible will yield its fruit regardless. My brother prayed for me and I got back to the reading. I truly believe it was a spiritual attack, because soon enough my joy came back to me. I want to tell you that sometimes we all experience temptation to stop reading our bibles. But if you understand that there is light in the Word and that you need to abide in the light, then you won’t be able to stay away from it even for a day. This understanding totally changed my attitude towards the Bible. This same understanding gives me stimulus to keep reading it even when I lose the desire. We will continue tomorrow! God bless you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Where to get joy?

«The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes» (Psalm 19:8-9).This passage of Scriptures tells us that one of the sources of joy is God’s Word, meditation on the Word and the perception of the (our) world through the prism of the Word. That is why it is so important for us to realize that if we want to remain in joy and learn to draw joy, we must grow in love with God’s Word.
  • Jesus came into this world that he might destroy the works of the devil and he might reveal God´s works

«He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil.» (1st John 3:8).The devil inflicts pain, steals, murder and annihilate people, but God comes in Christ and manifests His power and mercy. In Christ God heals the sick, forgives sins, restores people lives, frees from curse and obsession by demons. A little later we will discuss the details about devil as a source of distress and sufferings people may have. Today I would like you to note that sins of other people also represent a source of pain and suffering.
  • There are three main types of believers: observers, consumers/users and servants! II

The third type of believers is servants. Servants are the ones that are on the giving end. It is more blessed to give than it is to receive. We all like to receive, but if we want to be truly blessed we need to look for opportunities to give.Jesus said that the rivers of living water will flow out of those who believe in Him:«”He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified» (John, 7:38-39 ).
  • Changes mean working hard persistently!

God does this work through the Holy Spirit. We can collaborate with God in this process by our full obedience to Him.God wants to change you. If you are shy today, God wants to see you bold. If you are doubtful today, God wants to see you full of faith. Even if you are shy and pretend being as such because you inherited this quality from your ancestors and relatives – let me tell you, God desires to change it in you. He will accomplish this task if you allow it to Him.
  • The law of harvest and multiplication II

«Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.» (Mark 4:3-8)
