We win and overcome in life by faith!

I greet you, dear readers of „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”. We have been looking at the story from the life of a Canaanite woman, which caused God’s intervention in the life of her daughter, even though it seemed impossible at first. We already saw some truths in this story, but today I want us to consider why Jesus did not answer her request immediately.
«Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying: “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O, woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour» (Mathew, 15:21-28).
All of the time when the woman was begging Jesus for help, He was testing her faith. He wanted to grow her faith so that she will learn to walk in victory. In all different hard situations that happen to us daily, God desires to show us the condition of our faith. God knows it well, but He wants us to see what the condition of our faith is. God has given us faith with a particular purpose, and that is so to by faith overcome the world, execute out our dreams, to please God and to reach our goals. If we have faith then we should not be complaining, – we should be winning! We win and overcome in life by faith! There are different levels of problems and trials. Our faith is strengthened by going through trials and difficulties. By faith you can overcome all your obstacles! Why didn’t Jesus answer the woman’s prayer right away? Why did He answer the way He did?1.Jesus wanted her faith to grow. Why doesn’t Jesus answer our prayers right away? Why are there always obstacles on our ways in the search for an answer? Because God desires to build up our faith.  That is why every time when we face difficulties that are bigger than us and surpass our abilities, we need to learn to thank God for allowing our faith to grow in these situations.         «My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience» (James, 1:2-3).2.Jesus wanted His disciples to have a lesson of faith that overcomes all the obstacles.Jesus wanted to teach His disciples using the situations they faced. Through this story of the Canaanite woman He wanted to demonstrate that faith is able to overcome all obstacles. The disciples saw how it was done by this woman.3.Jesus desired for this woman to create an example for her daughter of how to act and react in a difficult situation. All this time Jesus was thinking about the healing of her daughter. How we behave in different hard situations is a lesson and example for our children and those we are methoring. Jesus tested her faith so that her daughter would learn to handle difficult situations like her mother did.4.Through this situation Jesus wanted to demonstrate that persistent faith will always be rewarded.Persistence in faith always brings a reward. This woman received her reward; when she came home she found her daughter healed and well. It was not an accident; it was a victory won by persistent faith. Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Our highest calling – to reveal God in our flesh

The Bible says: «For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him» (John, 1:17-18).The law can never save people because the law only reveals the sinful nature of man. The law was given in order for people to realize their need for God and His help. It was Jesus who brought to us the truth and the grace that conveys spiritual power necessary to live in accordance with God’s will. Anyone who will accept this truth and grace will have the power to live a holy life and become an instrument in God’s hand that is able to manifest or declare God’s truth and grace to other people.
  • Apart from Him there is no true satisfaction and happiness!

«There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death» (Proverbs, 16:25). A wise man learns from the mistakes of others. I believe that this message will help us stop and not take the wrong path, since it won’t give us any fulfilment.Yesterday we discussed the fact that Solomon tried to find happiness and satisfaction in pleasures of life. He realized that all these things are vanity and „grasping for the wind”. We saw the things Solomon sought as the source of enjoyment. First, he tried different delicacies. They brought satisfaction to Solomon’s body, but he soul remained empty and hungry.
  • In order for us to do the works of Jesus, we must ask for it in prayer!

«Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son» (John, 14:12-13).When Jesus Himself says ‘most assuredly’, it means He wants us to pay attention. These two verses are connected. Jesus says that we can do the works that Jesus did and even more, if we pray. Jesus tried to tell His disciples that He has been given all authority in heaven and on earth and that He will represent them in heaven, because He will be sitting with Him on the heavenly throne. Jesus told His disciples that they should ask in His name and that He would do what they ask so that His Father would be glorified.
  • Love is a weapon of victory of the last time II

«You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, … » (Matthew 5:43-44).«But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you..» (Luke 6:27-28).
  • Prayer is a two-way communication

Like I said, it is not what I tell God that it is the most important thing in prayer; it is what God wants to tell me. I will explain why it is so. Is there anything you can tell Him that He does not know! Is there anything at all? He knows everything. You may think that nobody knows what you are going through and that nobody knows the problems you have and how hard your life is. That may apply to people, but not to God. God knows everything! Even before you start praying, God knows everything you may want to tell Him. God also knows why these things are happening to you.
  • What are the goals of God’s chastening?II

«For if we judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world» (1 Corinthians, 11:31-32).So God chastises His children not for His own pleasure, but for our correction and for us to participate in His holiness. God does that in order for us to bring forth the peaceful fruit of righteousness and not to be condemned with the world.
