How we gain or receive the Fear of God in our life?

Hello Friends!
We have been spending quite some time now talking about walking in the fear of God. Today I want to bring it home by answering a very practical question. And this is the question: How do we gain or receive the fear of God in our life?

  • First, we must choose with our will to have the fear of God above all else.

Proverbs 1:29 says,

 “Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord…” God will not give this fear to us unless we want it. We must see this as something we choose above all else because we desperately need it.
  • Second, we should confess our desperate lack of this fear, and ask God for it by faith.

The Psalmist expresses what that prayer should be:

“Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” Ps. 86:11

What will enable the Psalmist to have the fear of the Lord? An undivided heart! What is the connection between an undivided heart and the fear of the Lord? It implies we need an undivided heart so we can focus solely and completely on God, and that we can’t have that heart without God’s help.

  • Third, earnestly desire and seek after God 
“Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures, then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God”  (Proverbs 2:3-5).
  • Fourth, hear the Word preached 
 “In the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah. And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests. And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people. And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat” (2 Chronicles 17: 7-10).
  • Finally, write out the Word of God and meditate on it 
“And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites. And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them” (Deuteronomy 17:18-19)

May the grace to walk in the fear of God take root in you from today on, in Jesus’ name!

  • Jesus got to know God´s will and fulfilled His mission

    For the fact that Jesus got to know God´s will and fulfilled His mission we can enter the presence of God, receive forgiveness of our sins and get answers to our prayers today. It´s important to notice that fate of many people depends on do we or do we not fulfil our mission and God´s will in our lives. In case we fail to accomplish the mission, some people will not enter their fate or the fulfilment of their mission will experience a delay. That´s why Jesus treated God´s will and its fulfilment in the most serious way. The job of His Father who sent Him was the highest priority in Jesus life.

  • The importance of unity

    This Scripture tells us that the people had one goal, they had one language, and they put forth a unified effort, and it says about them that “now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them”.   • Lay hold on eternal life! III

    Laying hold of eternal life means that a person strives to stay on the narrow road which leads to eternal life. Jesus knew that it would be so convenient for many to walk the broad road; being on this road, a person feels comfortable and lives without any restrictions; he does what he wants to do and is not limited by any commitments. But the Bible says that it is the way of sin, because a person is not accountable and moves ‘without brakes’, so to speak; this way leads to destruction. God says that we shouldn’t walk on this way. We must flee sin; we must cast aside all the worldly, ungodly things that hinder us, otherwise we won’t get to our destination – eternal life. Jesus says that many people will deny faith.

  • We are the salt of the earth and light of the world

    We continue talking about our role and function as God’s ambassadors on the earth. We’ve talked about the Bible calling us Christ’s ambassadors; God has sent us to encourage people to be reconciled with God. The Bible also calls us the salt of the earth and the light to the world. But if we as Christ’s ambassadors on earth do not actively practise our faith, then our society will deteriorate. Today, if we look at successful and prosperous countries, we can see the reason of their success and prosperity is because the people there embrace and practice Christian values. Only righteousness exalts a nation – Thai is a law, – God’s law. Only righteousness makes a nation prosperous! Injustice and sin destroy a nation.
