The importance of having the right connection between your evenings and your mornings

Precious children of God, I want to bless you this day! I am so happy about the opportunity to meet with you again on the pages of our „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”. Today I want to continue to address you on the advice we found in the Book of Genesis. We saw there that when God was creating heaven and earth He analysed His actions and He looked at the results of each day. Before making the next step God checked the results of what He had already done. The words „and God saw that it was good” were repeated quite a bit in the Book of Genesis”. Yesterday we talked about the effective analysis of our lives and we established that we must first have a plan. It is very, very important. If you don’t have a plan of what you want to accomplish or who you want to become, then you have left things to themselves and as a result your precious life can be totally wasted. God does not want that to happen. Today I want to show you another important truth out of the Book of Genesis, chapter 1; and it is the importance of having the right connection between your evenings and your mornings. What does that mean? Let’s look at some verses from the Scripture, and we will see an interesting picture of how God does things:
«So the evening and the morning were the first day». (Genesis, 1:5) «So the evening and the morning were the second day». (Genesis, 1:8) «So the evening and the morning were the third day». (Genesis, 1:13) «So the evening and the morning were the fourth day». (Genesis, 1:19) «So the evening and the morning were the fifth day». (Genesis, 1:23)
So we see through Chapter 1 of the Book of Genesis that days did not start with the morning, but rather with the evening of the previous day. What does this tell us? It tells us that God started His day in the evening. It is very important for us to borrow this wisdom from our Heavenly Father. If we get up in the morning and only then start thinking about what we need to do for the day, then we are already starting it in the wrong manner and have already starting too late. The last moment to start your day is the evening of the previous day. In the evening we need to have a composed idea of what we are doing the next day. We need to have a plan for the next day. Before we go to bed we need to have a vision for the next day. If we are too lazy to make any plans for the next day before going to bed then we are heading towards poverty both physical and spiritual. It is crucial for us to accept this wisdom from God to start the day in the evening of the previous day: «So the evening and the morning were the first day».Let’s learn this from God. Before going to bed take a piece of paper and a pen or your daily planner and put together a plan for the next day. Today there are so many different ways of making plans. Someone plans one week ahead, someone else – a whole month ahead. Whatever your manner is, before you go to bed you need to have pretty good idea what you are doing tomorrow so that you can entrust all of these activities to God. We can ask God to strengthen us and help us to reach our goals. Thus we wake up in the morning being full of joy because our day will be focused on the right things that we receive from God. Of course, we have to be flexible and open for changes. If God wants us to move in another direction, we have to be open for that. Still, it is better to have a plan, than be without one. May God bless you! Peace be to you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Our highest calling – to reveal God in our flesh

The Bible says: «For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him» (John, 1:17-18).The law can never save people because the law only reveals the sinful nature of man. The law was given in order for people to realize their need for God and His help. It was Jesus who brought to us the truth and the grace that conveys spiritual power necessary to live in accordance with God’s will. Anyone who will accept this truth and grace will have the power to live a holy life and become an instrument in God’s hand that is able to manifest or declare God’s truth and grace to other people.

We are still talking about the advantages that are hidden in pain and sufferings. We have discussed four of them, and they are as follows:Problems draw our attention like nothing else.Problems teach us to trust God.Problems try and purify our faith.Problems shape our character.
  • Which group of people do you belong to today – the disciples or the multitude? II

The way that Jesus will lead us on won’t always be smooth and easy. The Bible tells us that Jesus Himself endured the hostility, the cross and the shame. It means that Jesus will also lead us through the valleys of death and tears; this way is not pleasant and desired, but it is good for us, because God only knows what we need. The disciples followed Jesus not only when He spoke pleasantries, but also when He rebuked or corrected them. They followed Him even when they did not understand the true meaning of His words. The simply trusted His wisdom.
  • The purpose of ministry is to draw people to God

When we serve people, we should be careful to see to it that all the good works we do, such as taking care of people, giving words of encouragement, gestures and deeds of love are all done for the purpose of drawing those people closer to Jesus and uniting them with Him, and not to glorify ourselves. You should understand that people’s problems will be solved only when they are united with God. If we really want to help people we should understand that nobody can do it better than our Creator.
  • Organization of effective prayer life

Prayer is a very important and necessary part of our spiritual life and can be compared to breathing, which is vital for our physical life. In other words, prayer is our spiritual breathing. The one who is not breathing is not alive. In the very same way, prayer is what makes us alive in spiritual sense. Thus, without prayer we are spiritually dead. This year we have talked a lot about serving God, and it is very important as well. We need to serve God! We need to serve people! But we will never be effective in our ministry to God and people without effective prayer.Remember it!
