Do not be discouraged if you feel like God hasn’t yet answered your prayer, keep praying!

Good day, my dear friend. For several days we have been looking at the account in the Bible about the Canaanite woman who decided to ask Jesus for help, and help her he did.
“Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.” Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.” The Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.”(Mt.15: 21-28)
In this account we can see that this woman was asking in real desperation, but Jesus would not answer her immediately. Jesus did this purposely and we will see “why” in a minute. But for now I would like you to notice that even though Jesus did not respond, it did not stop the woman from pleading with him. Maybe today you are asking for God’s help; maybe you are praying for the salvation of your children, or you want them to change their attitude toward some things in life. There are many things you may be praying about. Maybe you are praying to God, and it seems to you that the answer isn’t going to come; maybe you feel like giving up on prayer, and you think that prayer doesn’t work. I’ve spoken to people who were praying for a long time and started to disbelieve in the power of prayer as the answers were not immediate. The example of the Canaanite woman shows us that it is wrong to think that there is no point in asking God for help. I would like to reassure you that your prayer is heard today! Even today there is magnificent power in prayer! Even if you sometimes feel that God does not hear or answer your prayers. The truth is – prayer changes things! The Canaanite woman was perseverant in her request to Jesus. There is a reward for perseverance and faithfulness. This woman didn’t think that there was no point in asking Jesus. She knew he could help her. She didn’t give up easily and nothing could stop or discourage her, nothing could break her faith in Jesus! God’s appeal to you today is: do not be discouraged if you feel like God hasn’t yet answered your prayer; keep praying! Have faith in God and pray to Him; don’t give up. Pray till you receive an answer, because prayer changes things! Jesus taught:
“Ask and it will be given to you…for everyone who asks receives.” (Mt.7:7-8)
Also He said:
“…they should always pray and not give up.” (Lk.18:1)
May God bless you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Sacrifice as a measure of love! III

It is not hard to love God – simply think about Him, think about what He does for you every day, and your natural response will be gratefulness. Worshipping God will become a natural thing for those who think about Him and His works. God loves you very much. But, if you live and at the same time do not think about Him, do not see what He does for you, it is hard for you to sacrifice; particularly – it is hard for you to sacrifice your busy daily schedule, your finances, your time, your comfort, because you do not think about Him.
  • Preparation is a key to effective life!

In reality, effective life is impossible without appropriate preparation. Jesus solved the question of effectiveness by preparing Himself for the ministry. There is almost no information about what Jesus had been doing during the first 30 years of His life. Gospels tell us the story about His ministry. Meanwhile, we need to understand that prior to starting His ministry Jesus had been seriously preparing himself for quite a long time.

I welcome you to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We have been talking about how to enter out ministry. We have established that, first; we have to have a strong desire to serve God with our gifts and talents. We discussed the tact that ministry helps us to discover our potential. We know now that God desires us to be fruitful and glorify Him on earth. Also, every one of us has to find out for himself what he can serve with. The following things as education, experience, gifts and talents and skills can help us in this. There is something else that we have to learn for ourselves: we must learn to think big.
  • The blessedness or beauty of serving others! III

Ministry and giving determines the measure of one’s spiritual growth and maturity. It also determines how much I bear a resemblance to Jesus Christ. God wants us to grow spiritually. One of the indications of one’s spiritual growth is how he or she fulfils the needs of others. Such a person not only takes and receives, but also gives. Giving and ministry is one and the same word that determines how much of resemblance to Jesus Christ I bear.It says in the Bible that Jesus came to this earth to serve and not to be served. He is the example of a minister. Many of us want others to serve us. God says that we should minister and serve others. He wants us to be like Jesus.
  • Our life is a product of what we see III

God wants us to cooperate with Him. His future and our future is a great, bright one. But we have to cooperate with Him to make sure this imagined future becomes a reality in our lives. It might be that today you look small in your own eyes, but God wants to give you a great future. And He does not keep us in ignorance about the prospects for the future, and for this very reason He gave us the Holy Spirit. One of the things that the Holy Spirit does is revealing the future God has prepared for us.
