Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth

Welcome, my dear brethren and sisters! I believe our God has fresh manna for you from heaven. Let your soul be filled with His mercy and grace. We stated that any severe changes in your life are impossible without God and your fellowship with Him. God invites you to have fellowship with Him because He wants to change your life. Fellowship with God changes us internally. We also mentioned that global changes in your life start with changes in your heart.Since we are dead with Christ and resurrected with Him, our life after resurrection should be of a completely different quality. Only those who stay in Christ have resurrected life. We already have resurrected life inside us though, it´s hidden like a present. As long as your hidden present and your talents stays sealed they give you no benefit, no joy, no any good to the other people. In order to reveal that kind of life God wants us to think about“things that are above”. Everyone who believes has a free will and a right to choose. We have the right to choose focusing ourselves on the things of this Earth or the things that please our flesh, practising sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil temptations and idol worshipping that are the result of our old life. Meanwhile, we can make a different choice, namely, to focus our attention on our new life in Christ and the values of the Kingdom of Heaven, which is only possible when we have fellowship with God. The Bible says:
«Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry; for which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. You also once walked in those, when you lived in them; but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth. Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,». (Colossians 3: 5-10)
“put to death your members”- means seeking God first and most, more than any other secular things.“put to death your body”- means letting the resurrected life that dwells in you spring its roots. By feeding our old sinful nature we strengthen it and as a result of this the sinful nature prevails the resurrected life inside us. In opposite, when thinking about things that are above ans seeking those things we enable ourselves to celebrate a victory over sin and the old nature.Quite often, when somebody hears that he has to put his body to death he says to himself: “I can´t do it!” This is the voice of your old nature. Though, let me share the good news with you – the Bible says, when Christ reveals Himself so will you in His glory, and your new life will be transformed into abundant life. If we have fellowship with God, seek things that are above and reason about Him, then Christ will definitely reveal Himself in our life.
«If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.». (Colossians 3:1-4).
Christ desires to become a part of your life, the purpose of your life, so that you can reveal together with Him in His glory.God bless you and pour His wisdom on you today! Rufus Adjiboje, pastor

  • Value God’s Word!

Today God wants to tell us the same thing. The Word of God is life to us. When God sends us His Word, He offers us life. Rejecting the Word of God we reject life itself. Moses says about God’s Word: «For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life…»It is extremely important for us to appreciate the Word of God and not to treat it as something futile, – it is not like a song that we have listened to and then gone to do our own will. It should be to us like the greatest treasure. We have to value God’s Word, to hide it in our hearts, to appreciate it because it is life to us. God says that through the Word and through our right attitude towards it we can extend or prolong our days. Our attitude toward the Word determines whether we will extend our life or shorten it.
  • How we gain or receive the Fear of God in our life?

First, we must choose with our will to have the fear of God above all else. Proverbs 1:29 says, “Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord…” God will not give this fear to us unless we want it. We must see this as something we choose above all else because we desperately need it.
  • The example of accountability in the life of apostle Paul II

Leaving for his mission Paul didn´t make himself unaccountable just because he had already been anointed and free. At that moment Paul had become a mature minister established many churches. Nevertheless, he was still an accountable person. He returned to the church at Antioch, to the place he had been sent from, to meet those whom God had been made an authority over Paul. Moreover, Paul also held an account before the apostles in Jerusalem regarding the way his ministry was going.«Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me. I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain». (Galatians 2:1-2).
  • Suffering as a method of discipline

One of the reasons God allows suffering in the lives of His children is that He desires to draw our attention to Himself, to correct and discipline us. We know that God mostly corrects us by His Word: «All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work» (2 Timothy, 3:16-17).
