Which group of people do you belong to today – the disciples or the multitude?

Greetings, my dear friends! I thank God for you and believe that this day will bring you many blessings as you meditate on the word God has given us today. We are still talking about the importance and necessity of changes in the life of a believer. It is not enough just to go to church to be changed, so can we really blame the church when we do not see any changes in our lives? Many of those that go to church have this kind of thinking: «I guess this church is not of God, otherwise I would have changed a long time ago, because I have been a believer for many years». No, dear, you cannot blame church for the lack of positive changes in your life and circumstances. Jesus said about the Church:
«I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it» (Mathew, 16:18b).
Church is being built by Jesus Who said: «Follow Me, and I will make you». It means that until you start following Jesus there are not guarantees that your life will change. Changes do not result from religious activities; they are a result of following Jesus. The lives of many believers stay the same for years, even though they attend church regularly and read their Bible. Either a person does not understand what it means to follow Jesus, or he is not ready to pay the price of following Jesus and living the life He has called us to live. All those that follow Jesus have testimonies of how Jesus changes and transforms their lives! If I attend a church and do not experience any changes, I do not differ from the crowds of religious people that claim to believe God in their hearts and observe different religious rites as a proof of their piety. But the crowd and the disciples are on different levels in their commitment to God, and they lives differ as well. When we read our Bibles, we see that there were different categories of people among the followers of Jesus. Part of those followers was the multitude. Wherever Jesus went, they followed Him. These people attended all of Jesus’ meetings, were witnesses of God’s miracles, and listened to His teaching and parables. It seemed like they were following Him. Jesus said that He would change the ones that had made a decision to follow Him. Nevertheless, He could not change the multitude because these people refused to pay the price of following Jesus. The crowd only wants to see miracles and experience improvements in their lives and not the character changes.Let’s read the 6th chapter of the Gospel of Luke to get a clearer picture.
«And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed» (Luke, 6:17-18).
In this passage we see two categories of people that followed Jesus: the disciples and the multitude of people. We can see the same picture nowadays. Among the followers of Jesus Christ, there are true disciples and the multitude. All the believers cannot be considered to be disciples of Jesus, because there is a difference in the level of dedication and commitment between those two groups.Only disciples are changed through their following Jesus, but the multitude stays the same – selfish, fleshly and hypocritical. The exception is those people out of the multitude that make a firm decision to become a true disciple of Jesus and follow Him. The multitude looks for Jesus, attends His services and listens to His sermons for one reason only: they want to improve their lives and make them easier. The multitude is not interested in personal repentance, character changes and the understanding God’s plan for one’s life. So, which group of people do you belong to today – the disciples or the multitude? The things that God has prepared for His followers who submit to His will and become His disciples are so much bigger than the price they need to pay. God bless you today!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

«Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved. For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn’t subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the fulfilment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.» (Romans 10:1-4).Today may people are saying they love God and believe in Him, while staying ignorant to His righteousness and living according to their own righteousness. Therefore, they blame God for being unjust to them when facing problems and distress in their life.
  • Changes mean working hard persistently II

While growing up and changing we will see how we become more patient. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit God wants to be visible in your life. Therefore, God sometimes permits conflicts in your life, to help you with developing the fruit of patience. God desires to trample our pride thus transforming us into likeness of loving, persevere Christ. You are still arrogant if you show resentment at nonsense. God desires to help you to get rid of this arrogance. That´s why He allows people to do wrong to us. God is trying to teach us how to handle such situations, so that we are able to build relationships with people as His representatives on this Earth. Everything God permits in our life works together for good if we let Him mould us.
  • Sacrifice as a measure of love! V

You cannot say you love and at the same time neglect spending time with the one whom you love. It is simply not possible! Time is our life. By spending time with the one whom you love, you are giving or sharing with them part of your life.In order to earn money, you need time; in order to spend money, you need time. If you have money but do not have time to spend it, this money will not bring you any blessings. If you lose the money, you can earn it back tomorrow. But if you lose time, you are not getting it back!
  • Do not focus of what you do not have; simply go ahead and use what you have!

Every human being is a unique work of God. Every one has been given unique abilities and talents. There isn’t one unnecessary person on this earth; there isn’t one insignificant talent or ability. Everything that God created is needed by someone and is intended as a blessing for someone. Look at yourself today in a new light and see that you are a unique personality highly gifted by God; you are a unique specimen. There isn’t another person on this earth like you! But sometimes we are distracted when we start comparing ourselves to others and envying them just because they have something we do not have. For this reason we stop appreciating the things that God has given us and sometimes it makes us passive and inert.
  • The law of harvest and multiplication II

«Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.» (Mark 4:3-8)
  • The sample of effective prayer

In order to pray effectively one needs a sample. Christian life is a spiritual life, therefore, connection with Heaven is vitally important. Our God is a spirit, but we all live on Earth, so we need to stay connected with God. There are only two ways of having fellowship with God – The word of God and a prayer. The God speaks to us through His word. The word of God is His revelation about God himself. Neither you can create the character of God by yourself nor you can imagine what kind of person He is, because you can easily fail getting it right. The God tells us in His word about who He is, what He can do and how He acts.
