We can only be defiled by the things that come from within III

Greetings to you, dear friends! Grace and peace to you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ! We have been talking about the fact that outward things do not have capability to defile us. We are defiled by the things that proceed from our hearts.I used to have a friend, a pastor who was getting married to one of the sisters from his church. They were friendly for a long time and then got married. Family is the union of two individualities that are quite different. Some time after the wedding he told me: „I thought my wife would be obedient and humble, like she was in church». I responded that such an opinion is erroneous. The relationships between husband and wife imply high level of intimacy and openness. The closer the people get to each other, the more faults they notice in one another. I told him that now they need to grow together and nurture and perfect one another. I told him that God would change him through his wife and vice versa, because relationships are double-sided. Every married person can confirm this truth. I don’t know any couple that could say that marriage has affected only one of the spouses. Many people wear ‘pink glasses’, so to speak, and have unrealistic expectations before they get married. The reality of married life quickly removes the glasses. We enter relationships to be changed and not to change the other person. If we understand God’s principle of relationships as the school and training ground then the married life becomes totally enjoyable. The Epistle to Galatians talks about the fruit of the Spirit. We must understand that talking about the fruit of the Spirit we must keep in mind that it mostly applies to the area of relationships:
«But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law» (Galatians, 5:22-23).
It talks about how we treat ourselves, others and God.Our relationships with God are expressed through lovejoy and peace. Our relationships with others are expressed through longsufferingkindness and goodness. Our relationships with self are expressed through faithfulnessgentleness and self-control.If I am full of feelings of inferiority, fear, self-will and pride, it will affect our relationships with other people. If my attitude towards myself isn’t right, I will have a hard time accepting the love of the closest people: husband or wife, brothers, sisters, children etc. So I have to change first and not the others who seemingly make my life more difficult. When I am in peace with myself and love myself, I will be able to love my neighbour as myself.I must change. I must get rid of my complexes. I must get free from fear and other bondages. I must grow in faithfulness (faith), gentleness and self-control. I also need to grow in longsuffering, goodness and kindness towards other people. God’s Word and close relationships with God will help us change and grow in the fruit of the Spirit! May God abundantly bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

The Word of God that you keep in your heart will save you! In hard times, when people rise against you with slander and when all the circumstances seem to be against you, only the Word of God that you have in your heart will save you. That is why we say that God’s Word is our support system. It is like a bearing wall in a building. If you take it down, the building will collapse. A bearing wall carries the weight.
  • Our sins and the sins of others are the main reasons of tragedies

The majority of tragedies and disasters on earth that daily destroy great many people are a result of lawlessness of the people living on earth.«So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it. Therefore do not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel» (Numbers, 35:33-34).
  • How God chastises and disciplines His children

    1. God uses His Word, the Bible to discipline us.Do you have some separate time to read and personally study God’s Word? Do you study the Word together with other believers? Do you listen regularly to the preaching of the Word? All these issues are very important, since it is the Holy Scripture that God uses to speak to us. Through the Word God corrects us and gives us important instruction concerning the way we should live. God sees and know how we live. God knows all of our hidden desires and thoughts, and He wants to correct us through His Word.
  • The importance of turning at the reproof of the Lord.

The Bible tells us that God will correct us because He loves us and is delighted in our prosperity. He will not live us to wander in our unrighteous ways. He will rebuke, chastise and discipline those He love just like any father will do to his children.“My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth” (Proverbs 3:11-12).
  • What is a breakthrough? II

Breakthrough always changes a person’s status and position. Today, I want to draw your attention to the fact that in this story, not only the crippled man experienced a breakthrough but also Peter and John, the Apostles. Not only the cripples need a breakthrough. Every person needs a breakthrough!Along with the crippled man, also Peter and John, the Apostles, experienced a breakthrough, because miracles that had not happened beforein through their ministry took place exactly on that day. Ever since then, different miracles never ceased in their lives and ministries. Even the shadow of Peter who started healing the sick as he passed by them. Imagine what will happen to you when you begin to experience a continual breakthrough in every sphere of your life.
  • What are the benefits of pain and suffering at the time? IV

In order for us to learn react to problems and pain in a correct manner we need a revelation about the fact that while we live in this world there will be no end to pain and hardships. For as long as sin exists on the earth pain won’t cease in people’s lives. We suffer not only due to our own sins and wrong decisions, but also due to the sins and wrong decisions of other people.Joshua and Caleb, as well as the whole generation of Israel that finally entered the Promised Land were forced to wander through the wilderness for almost 40 years. Why? We know that Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit and they believed God and walked in obedience. Nevertheless, due to the wrong decisions made by other people they had to suffer and wander in the wilderness for all that time.
