The purpose of ministry is to draw people to God

Peace and grace from our Lord, Jesus Christ be multiplied in your life!I believe the word I share with you in this column strengthens and helps you to continue on your journey to everlasting life. We continued to discuss the importance of ministry as a God’s tool for transformation. We concluded that the purpose of ministry is to draw people to God, because God is the only one who can help, comfort, heal and restore the destiny of people. When we serve people, we should be careful to see to it that all the good works we do, such as taking care of people, giving words of encouragement, gestures and deeds of love are all done for the purpose of drawing those people closer to Jesus and uniting them with Him, and not to glorify ourselves. You should understand that people’s problems will be solved only when they are united with God. If we really want to help people we should understand that nobody can do it better than our Creator.I can comfort people to a certain level, but only God really knows the depth of pain in people’s hearts. God knows and also feels the pains of people Himself, because of His unconditional love to the whole mankind. Jesus has already put Himself in our place and tasted death for each of us when died on the cross. He went through much pains, sorrow, treason, injustice, rejections, humiliations, false accusations and many other horrible things so that He could become the only true Helper in our temptations who truly understands what we are going through.
«Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted». (Hebrews 2:17-18).
Jesus is the only Person that knows and understands our human needs. That’s why Jesus can help us better than anybody else. By serving people we share God’s love with them, so that people can encounter that love, experience it and begin to seek the source of that love – to seek our Heavenly Father. We are drawing people’s attention to the One who has poured out that love into our hearts when we serve people and rejoice with them when they are happy and successful. Through ministry we can and should draw people’s attention to the Father God, who has transformed our lives and turned us from selfish creatures into the loving children of God.Let me use Jesus example to show how we can draw people to God through our ministry. When Jesus came into this world, He served other people instead of expecting them to serve Him. That is exactly what He meant in the following passage of the Bible:
«…even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” . (Matthew 20:28).
Why did Jesus come to Earth to serve people instead of being served? By serving others, Jesus was showing us what ministry really means and how we are suppose to live our lives. Jesus was the happiest person in the world. Regardless of all ordeals, treason and many other things that took place around Him, Jesus never had a bad day. Why was that? Jesus never had a bad day because He was too busy with serving God and other people, so He had no time for self-pity.Please get the message! Help meet the needs of God and other people, then He will take care of your needs and your problems!God bless each of you abundantly!See you tomorrow! Rufus Ajiboye, pastor

  • In order for the light of God in our lives to shine brighter and brighter we have to consistently cleanse our lamp

The bible said we are the light of the world, so each of us is a light bearer. And as you know, light is intended to enlighten and drive away any form of darkness. We have to realize though, that we do not have light on our own. The light we radiate is the reflection of the light we have received from God. If we have a distorted perception of God, and His ways, then the light we radiate will also be distorted. Quite often so many Christian radiate distorted light because their lamp is not clean.
  • What is a breakthrough? II

Breakthrough always changes a person’s status and position. Today, I want to draw your attention to the fact that in this story, not only the crippled man experienced a breakthrough but also Peter and John, the Apostles. Not only the cripples need a breakthrough. Every person needs a breakthrough!Along with the crippled man, also Peter and John, the Apostles, experienced a breakthrough, because miracles that had not happened beforein through their ministry took place exactly on that day. Ever since then, different miracles never ceased in their lives and ministries. Even the shadow of Peter who started healing the sick as he passed by them. Imagine what will happen to you when you begin to experience a continual breakthrough in every sphere of your life.
  • Your gift will make room for you! II

«A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men» (Proverbs, 18: 16).Studying the church history, we see that all of God’s generals didn’t start big. These people used what they had and did whatever they could. They began using the abilities they had. Eventually, their gifts found their place in the Body of Christ and grew into large ministries. For example, Dr. T.L. Osborn saw that people needed salvation, so he started meeting this need to the best of his ability: he started printing little tracts on his printing machine and went door to door leaving them in their post boxes. At the time he couldn’t even imagine that it will lead him to huge international evangelistic ministry that he has today.
  • God helps us to develop compassion towards other people through the ministry as well

It is true that ministry transforms us into the likeness of God. Since God is graceful and compassionate in His essence, then we His children should be able to show to others the grace and compassion of our Heavenly Father and we do that by serving other people. Earlier on, we already mentioned that God’s desire is to transform us into the image and the likeness of Christ so that we can begin to reflect the quality of character that Jesus had. It was Christ who came to reveal God to us so that we can follow in His steps. We know that changes automatically do not occur; changes or transformation happen only as we implement the laws and principles of God into our life. Ministry is one tremendous way we can do that; it is one of the many tools, God uses to mold and transform us into likeness of Christ.
  • When did God speak to you the last time?

You are reading the Word of God and you hear God’s voice, and the Holy Spirit speaks to you. God has a plan for us. If we live in this plan, we have a life in abundance. But if we are not in God’s plan, we cannot enjoy this life. Outside of God’s plan there is no real life. We want to live in God’s plan, but God must reveal this plan to people through the Word of God and Holy Spirit.
  • How to set grace free in our lives? II

The law of sowing and reaping governs how favour works. It is necessary to look at favour as a seed that must be sown. Jesus said that, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (Matthew 5:7).In other words, Jesus is saying, “Blessed are those who have sown favour or mercy, because they will reap favour or mercy”.Generally, the level of favour operating in your life depends on the level of the seed of favour you sow into other people’s lives. This means that I cannot expect the harvest of favour in my life until I have not sown mercy into other people’s lives.
