God’s Word is a sword

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We continue discussing that we should be filled with and live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. There shouldn’t be any weariness in the life of Christians, if they continually feed on God’s Word. Yesterday we started talking about Prophet Elijah who was actually ready to give up. Despite the fact that he had just destroyed all the prophets of Baal and was mighty, after some time his heart was filled with fear and he grew spiritually weak. Elijah got tired and fell asleep because he did not have it in him to go forward; he was weary of all the fighting. He did not want to live and asked God to take his life. But God told him that he was asking for the wrong thing. God told him to eat. After he had eaten, Elijah became stronger. Every time when I read God’s Word I understand that it is spiritual food that invigorates me. I read it until I feel stronger. Every day comes with its cares and in order for me to go through it successfully I need strength. None of us know what we might face during the day; so we need to eat both physically and spiritually. We must get nourished to be strong enough in dealings with different problems we can face during our daily walk. Have you every experienced joy and encouragement after reading the Word? Have you ever felt like a victor filled with faith and power after getting filled with God’s Word? His Word truly makes us victors. God has given us His Word so that we would use it on a daily basis. We already saw that God’s Word is called the following things: • light, • water, • mirror, • and spiritual food. It also says in the Bible that God’s Word is a sword. You and I are in the middle of spiritual battle and we need the weapon that would help us fight and overcome the enemy. God’s Word is His weapon, His sword. If the Word is in us, we will always be able to easily overcome temptation, sin and enemy. If God’s Word abides in us, we will be able to say as Jesus said: «It is written! It is written! It is written!» But if you are not ‘in shape’ and do not know what is written in the Word, you won’t have the necessary courage to proclaim God’s Word over your life and situation.
«I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one» (1 John, 2:14).
God desires for us to be strong and overcome the wicked one. The Church must be filled with powerful people that are able to overcome all the deeds of the wicked one. But we can be strong and overcoming only when the Word of God abides in us. How can the Word abide in us, if we do not read it and if we treat it lightly, and do not really pay attention to it? The Word that abides in us makes us strong and victorious. Our strength depends not on what we know, but the word that abides in us. The more of the Word you have in you, the stronger you will be. God intends for us to be filled and nourished by God’s Word. We will continue on this tomorrow.! May God abundantly bless you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • The true Christian life is a call to manifest God in our lives

«Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled» (Acts, 4:13).The first disciples of Jesus had spent time with Jesus and that reflected in their attitude to life,- they manifested God’s character through their lives. They were brave and bold for God; they boldly spoke of God, and testify of Him because they had spent time in the Father’s bosom.
  • Worthy Goal for Life II

Yesterday we started talking about our goals. Everyone has them. We discussed that there are worthy and less worthy goals. We also saw that after meeting Christ, Paul devoted his life to Him; earnest expectation of Christ to be glorified in his body and through his life became his main goal in life. It is very important to ascertain for ourselves what our goals are.You and I have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ and we have peace with God. But it is just the beginning. Having been reconciled with God is just the beginning of the Christian walk. What awaits us afterwards? Through faith we gain Access to God’s grace and we expect the glory of God to be progressively revealed in us and through us.
  • What is actually the difference between resurrected life and having life abundantly?

Having repented your sins you are granted resurrected life, while life abundant is still hidden in God. You need the life abundant here, on this Earth. However, to have such life here on Earth we have to learn how to bring our heavenly possession on Earth. We have to have victorious life no matter what we do. Time we spend in fellowship with God is time when our resurrected life is being converted into life abundant.
  • Lay hold on eternal life! III

Laying hold of eternal life means that a person strives to stay on the narrow road which leads to eternal life. Jesus knew that it would be so convenient for many to walk the broad road; being on this road, a person feels comfortable and lives without any restrictions; he does what he wants to do and is not limited by any commitments. But the Bible says that it is the way of sin, because a person is not accountable and moves ‘without brakes’, so to speak; this way leads to destruction. God says that we shouldn’t walk on this way. We must flee sin; we must cast aside all the worldly, ungodly things that hinder us, otherwise we won’t get to our destination – eternal life. Jesus says that many people will deny faith.
  • How can we experience God in our life? III

Let Him talk to your heart today. We keep on talking about how we can experience God´s presence, power and His mercy in our life. Yesterday we stated that constant fellowship with God is mandatory in order to experience these things. We quoted many verses from Scripture telling us that people who love God have obvious advantages. For such people God has prepared many pleasant surprises and all things together work for good in their lives and God Himself appears to them.«We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.» (Romans 8:28).
  • The evangelism and discipleship

“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers; Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”(Mt.4:18-19)I would like you to pay attention to the word “SAW”, which has been mentioned here twice. Passing by, Jesus saw Matthew and two brothers – Peter and Andrew. Jesus had noticed them, somehow they attracted His attention, Jesus invited them to become a part of His team.
