Value God’s Word! III

I am happy to speak to you today through our „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”.

For several days now we have been talking about the role of God’s Word in our lives. We talked about the Word of God being our life and about the fact that our right attitude towards it can prolong our days. Also we learned that our attitude towards God’s Words determines how strong the foundation of our lives will be and how able we are to withstand the troubles of this life. Today I would like to look at another facet that demonstrates the significance of God’s Word for us.

«So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking He said to Simon, „Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, „Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.» (Luke 5:1-6)

In this passage of Scripture we see that people were eager to hear God’s Word and were looking for Jesus. Jesus started to teach them. Jesus Himself loved the Word and also loved to teach it, because He understood the importance of it and knew that the Word brings life.

Here we also see that Peter and his partners were upset and disappointed, unhappy and saddened. They were washing their empty nets. Despite their working all night long they had not caught any fish. Such a situation would be hard to bear for anybody who had done his best, used all his knowledge but with no result.

Peter and his friends were ready to give up. But it was just at that moment that Jesus stepped into their situation. When Jesus steps into any situation, the situation changes at once. And for this reason they were willing to take their washed nets and let them down for a catch in the place shown by Jesus. Instead of giving up they went back to work.

Peter said: «..nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.» They let down their net because they had heard the word of Jesus; they obeyed the word and it brought results.  Jesus said that if a man hears and does the Word of God his life will be sound and firmly settled as a house built on the Rock.

Obedience to God’s Word will give strength to your life, your family, your business and will add stability to every area of your life. Peter’s business that was on the verge of bankruptcy was not only suddenly revived, but was expanded and enlarged. When Peter let down the net according to the word of Jesus, the catch was so much that he had to ask for help to pull up all the fish into the boat.
Why did a near bankruptcy suddenly turn into a breakthrough and expansion of business? It is because the Word of God makes a difference in our lives. When Jesus steps into your situations, the situations change completely.

Dear friend, you may be in depression and despair, because your efforts have not brought the desired results. I believe that when Jesus enters into that situation everything will change. So, don’t give up, but invite Jesus into your situation and things will change.

Nevertheless, I have to caution you that today Jesus does not come to us physically; He comes to us and intervenes in our situations through His Word. So ask Jesus to send you His Word.

May the word from this page revive you and bring changes into your life!
May the Lord bless you!

  • Forget not all His benefits!

Many of us do not thank God as we ought to, because we do not purposely keep in mind what God has done or is doing for us. We forget because we do not write it down. When I was a teenager, we often sang a song that said: «Count your blessings! Name every one of them, one after another, and you will be amazed at what the Lord has done!» I advise every one of you to record every miracle and every blessing that God does in our lives. You can use different methods: either modern technologies or simple writing.

  • How does planning benefit us?

Planning helps to effectively communicate our vision, desires and our expectations to others.Planning not only gives us a better understanding of the task, it also helps us to effectively pass on our wishes and expectations to others who will team with us to carry out the task. How can you ask for help from others, if you do not have a clear understanding of what you really want to accomplish? During the process of planning, your ideas will become more specific and clearer, and then you can effectively pass them on to others.

  • The Word of God – the source of divine information and truth

The lack of vision, knowledge or useful information can become the source of destruction and tragedy. There is a saying that not knowing the law does not relief from the responsibility; not knowing God’s laws or moral blindness multiplies human sufferings on earth.Every person must gain knowledge and understanding of God’s provision; we must know what God has done for us in Christ so that we can lessen human suffering. The lack of such knowledge can cause great pain. It is like a person starving because he does not know about state aid. The lack of knowledge of one’s rights and privileges can cause unnecessary problems.

  • Love is spiritual, not physical power

When we walk in love it brings health and strength to our spirits. A strong spirit helps an individual to overcome all sicknesses. But if we give our hearts to hatred, bitterness, revenge, unforgiveness, it undermines our hearts. And when our spirits are weak, we are not able to withstand difficult situation and we fail in life. That is why it says, „who can bear a broken spirit?” Nobody! If you do not walk in love, you get ill, irritated and your hearts is filled with bitterness.

  • How to effectively study the Bible II

Sometimes one word in the Bible can be followed as a thread throughout all of the pages of the Book.I once sat down to write a letter to a brother. I prayed and asked God to help me write not just words, but to make it a blessing for this person. As I was writing, I noticed that I had started preaching in the letter. Later I put it aside, because one word had totally consumed my attention. I began to study this word in the Bible. I began studying the phrases like “God is able” and „God can”. I started reading all the verses that contained these phrases. It was so interesting that I totally forgot about the letter. The study of particular Bible words can be very interesting and profitable.
