Value God’s Word! III

I am happy to speak to you today through our „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”.For several days now we have been talking about the role of God’s Word in our lives. We talked about the Word of God being our life and about the fact that our right attitude towards it can prolong our days. Also we learned that our attitude towards God’s Words determines how strong the foundation of our lives will be and how able we are to withstand the troubles of this life. Today I would like to look at another facet that demonstrates the significance of God’s Word for us.
«So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking He said to Simon, „Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, „Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.» (Luke 5:1-6)
In this passage of Scripture we see that people were eager to hear God’s Word and were looking for Jesus. Jesus started to teach them. Jesus Himself loved the Word and also loved to teach it, because He understood the importance of it and knew that the Word brings life. Here we also see that Peter and his partners were upset and disappointed, unhappy and saddened. They were washing their empty nets. Despite their working all night long they had not caught any fish. Such a situation would be hard to bear for anybody who had done his best, used all his knowledge but with no result.Peter and his friends were ready to give up. But it was just at that moment that Jesus stepped into their situation. When Jesus steps into any situation, the situation changes at once. And for this reason they were willing to take their washed nets and let them down for a catch in the place shown by Jesus. Instead of giving up they went back to work.Peter said: «..nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.» They let down their net because they had heard the word of Jesus; they obeyed the word and it brought results.  Jesus said that if a man hears and does the Word of God his life will be sound and firmly settled as a house built on the Rock.Obedience to God’s Word will give strength to your life, your family, your business and will add stability to every area of your life. Peter’s business that was on the verge of bankruptcy was not only suddenly revived, but was expanded and enlarged. When Peter let down the net according to the word of Jesus, the catch was so much that he had to ask for help to pull up all the fish into the boat. Why did a near bankruptcy suddenly turn into a breakthrough and expansion of business? It is because the Word of God makes a difference in our lives. When Jesus steps into your situations, the situations change completely.Dear friend, you may be in depression and despair, because your efforts have not brought the desired results. I believe that when Jesus enters into that situation everything will change. So, don’t give up, but invite Jesus into your situation and things will change.Nevertheless, I have to caution you that today Jesus does not come to us physically; He comes to us and intervenes in our situations through His Word. So ask Jesus to send you His Word.May the word from this page revive you and bring changes into your life! May the Lord bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboy

  • In our lives we must reflect the life, the power and the nature of Christ

You should not forget that you are God’s ambassadors on earth. When you face a problem or a difficult situation, think of what Jesus would have done if He were in a similar situation. This will help you. Christ is the One we represent on this earth. Think of what He would say, how He would solve the problem, how He would go through the situation you are facing today. If you think about like Christ thinks and you develop or grow in the nature of God, then you will become a strong and influential ambassador of God in your sphere of influence; you will ‘salty’ and you will be bright light in this world.
  • Life is a trust

You should understand there is nothing that belongs to you. Your life itself is not yours, it’s a trust God has shown to you. Understanding this truth changes the way you respond to what is going on around you.You do not live for yourself; you did not appear on this Earth by your own act of will or for your own personal purpose. God has given life to you as a sign of His trust for you. You are entrusted with life from God and the day will come when you will have to give account to God for the life He given to you, – for all your deeds and words while living in your body.
  • Will you become a person like Noah for your generation?

„This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.” (Genesis 6:9) 1. Noah was a just man. 2. Noah was a just and perfect man in his kin and his generation. 3. Noah walked with God. When God finds a man like that, He establishes His covenant with him.
  • Purpose for living V

After Solomon forsook God for a season, he tried to find happiness and satisfaction in different things and activities. We see that Solomon made several attempts which all lead to disappointment. For a wise person Solomon’s experience can become good lesson in what the wrong ways to happiness are. We mentioned that Solomon sought happiness in education and knowledge, in fun and pleasures, in beauty, in works of men’s hands. Afterwards he came to a conclusion that despite the fact that all these things are important and necessary for living, none of them can make us happy, if God is excluded from our life. Solomon said that everything under the sun is vanity and grasping for the wind. Solomon’s conclusion was that everything that happens under the sun is vanity and grasping for the wind – if apart from God.
  • How accountability helps us to change and grow spiritually?

Accountability is a sincere confession or opening of one’s secrets of his Christian walk to the others in the atmosphere of mutual trust. We are ready to give account of what we do with our lives, what we understand or do not understand, in what areas are weak or in need of assistance. When we are accountable we are willing to admit whether we are growing or not. We are able to give account of what we are learning in order to receive support, encouragement or correction.
