The chief hindrances that block God’s power from working for us

Hello, friends! Isn’t it wonderful to know that God loves you and will stand with you in all of life’s situations? God’s love for us has been proved and demonstrated in Christ. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, and because of His sacrifice for our sins, we now have access to everything we need for life and godliness. 
 “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
However, we need to remove all hindrances that block the free flow of His grace and power in our lives.Today I want to talk about one of the chief hindrances that blocks God’s power from working for us, and I will be addressing the issue of sin.Jesus sometimes connects sickness to sin. This is not always true for every sickness or situation (John 9:1-3), but very often our problems are connected to some unconfessed sins in our lives.
“And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. 2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee” (Matthew 9:1-8).
As you can see from here, the first thing Jesus said to this sick man is: “thy sins be forgiven thee”. Obviously Jesus tied the sickness of this man to sins he had committed. Another case where Jesus connected sin with sickness or problems is in the following scripture:
“And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee”(John 5:13-14).
 Jesus told this man who had just been healed that if you don’t stop sinning, worse things can happen to you. Here again Jesus connected sickness and trouble with sins.This is the reason we are told to confess our sins to one another, so that we can be healed.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed” (James 5: 16).

    1. God changes us through accountability.In order to change us, God often subordinates us to a person we have to give an account to. A person without responsibility is blind to see his own level of arrogance, rebellion and selfishness he has to get over. Accountability is a kind of protection from misbelief and self-deception for us.

    One of the reasons for spiritual coldness and lukewarmness is negligence and laziness. Marital failure, financial poverty, failure in ministry and many other forms of poverty can all be traced back to the same root of negligence or dealing with a slack hand.“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich” (Proverbs 10:4)

  • God helps us to develop compassion towards other people through the ministry as well

    It is true that ministry transforms us into the likeness of God. Since God is graceful and compassionate in His essence, then we His children should be able to show to others the grace and compassion of our Heavenly Father and we do that by serving other people. Earlier on, we already mentioned that God’s desire is to transform us into the image and the likeness of Christ so that we can begin to reflect the quality of character that Jesus had. It was Christ who came to reveal God to us so that we can follow in His steps. We know that changes automatically do not occur; changes or transformation happen only as we implement the laws and principles of God into our life. Ministry is one tremendous way we can do that; it is one of the many tools, God uses to mold and transform us into likeness of Christ.
