Are you in bondage, in the wilderness or in your promise land?

Dear Friends! Grace and mercy be multiplied unto you in Jesus Name. I have a question for you to answer today and the question is this: Are you in bondage, in the wilderness or in your promise land? We read about how God promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey, but when it came time to possess it, as a nation they were not ready. There are attitudes that keep you in bondage and wandering in the wilderness, while a promised land flowing with milk and honey awaits you. The Bible is full of the record of sins that plagued the rest of the children of Israel which we are to be aware of today in our lives.
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come” (1 Corinthians 10:5-11)
As we can see these people wander in the wilderness because of: Murmuring, lust and fornication, idolatry, rebellion, contention and so on.Besides these sins, the people succumbed to the destructive emotion of fear (see Number 14)As a result of their fear and sin, the adult Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years until their generation died off. Of that generation, only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to obtain their inheritance in the Promised Land at the end of the forty years (Numbers 14:24).
  • Are you experiencing some forms of bondage (financial, spiritual, physical, mental) in your life right now?
  • Are you still wandering in your own wilderness?
  • Are you seeking freedom and a glorious promised land where blessings flow, and where the righteous desires of your hearts are met?
  • Does it seem to you that the journey to your own personal promised land is taking too long?
If you answer yes to any of the above questions, you might want to take some time today and review the sins and mistakes of the children of Israel to see if there are some things you need to change in your attitude.Ask yourself the tough questions such as:
  • Am I murmuring and complaining instead of praising and thanking God for what He has given me?
  • Is there anything that is taking the place of God in my life right now?
  • Am I rebelling against God or against His word?
  • Since pride is the root of rebellion, ask yourself, Am I proud and arrogant?
  • Am I prone to contention, anger or even violence? Are my interactions, dealings and conversations with my family, friends and strangers contentious in character or are they fill with love, kindness, gentleness and purity?
  • Are my thoughts and actions holy and pure? Do I slip into lustful thoughts or actions?
  • Do I covet what other people have – whether that is their spouse, their house, their money, or their talents?
Please note that not all delays in reaching your goals are sin-related. God does have a season for everything, but, if we take time to examine our lives that might help us to remove any hindrance on the way, so that God can lead us into our promise Land in His fullness of time. Remember, no amount of faith and all the positive thinking in the world will help you enter your personal promised land if you are rebelling against God, if your attititude is contentious, or your and thoughts and actions are immoral. May you never die in bondage or in the wilderness until you enter your promise land in Jesus name! Till next tomorrow, Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Only those who seek will find

You will find out what is there in you if you get diligent about seeking it out. Only those who seek will find. For example, many people only see problems. Don’t look for problems and don’t talk about them; focus on the solutions. Train your heart and your mind to find answers and solutions for different problems. As soon as you see a problem, start thinking about possible solutions for it. Start meditating on possible ways to solve it, and God will give multiple ideas for serving people.
  • The seed contains tremendous potential

Our attitude towards God’s Word is very important. God sends His Word into our lives so that His Word would bring to us that which we need. In order for the seed of God’s Word to grow in our hearts, the condition of our hearts is particularly important. «For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it.» (Isaiah 55:10-11).
  • How can we earn promotion?

Every one of us desires to see God in our lives – strong and mighty God. It is important for us how God sees us and what He sees in us and in our hearts. I was born to meet needs of other people.God is always good! He does not change. Your problems or illnesses cannot alter the mercy of God towards you. God is always good, and that is God that we serve. Do not let devil deceive you. Know that God is always good! He wants to promote us, but He is looking for a particular individual. He is searching for a person who deserves to be promoted.
  • There are three main types of believers: observers, consumers/users and servants!

What type of a believer are you? What are you: an observer, a user or a servant? Today we will attempt to establish what distinguishes observers and consumers from servants.Observes do not care for what goes on around them; they demonstrate indifference. What happens in church does not concern him; he thinks that he only needs to attend Sunday services. He is there for the worship and the sermon and it is enough for him. Such a believer has no problems; he is doing fine at work and at home. He simply observes the events around him and he is happy.
  • A habit is a powerful thing that either hinders us from getting to our goals or helps us and moves in the right direction!

One of the important habits that we need to develop is to pray daily. Prayer must become habitual. God desires to teach us how to forsake bad habits and to develop good ones. Some people have a habit of wasting time. They may know that they need to pray, what they need to pray about, what prayer does etc, but they still don’t pray because they seem to lack the time, since they waste their time on wrong, unfruitful things – TV, computer, telephone conversations and so on. We must make an effort and find the time to pray.
  • How to develop a habit of prayer in our life? III

As you know, human life consists of habits. There are also good and bad habits. Any habit that brings a positive outcome requires some efforts and discipline from us. Unless we have a habit of praying our prayer life will never become effective neither fruitful. Let me quote the statement of an Ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle who once said about habits – “We are the product of what we repeatedly do”. In other words, our habits are our essence. Therefore, in order to excel at something, we have to make it our habit.
