Daily obedience to God in different areas of your life will bring you to your calling II

Greetings to you, dear friends, on this wonderful day! The Word of God says:
«For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you» (Isaiah, 54:10).
How wonderful is God’s Word! How amazing and powerful are the promises of God to His children! Our God is God of mercy and love. He created a man in His image and likeness. God is the Creator of all the visible and invisible things.
«For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them»(Ephesians, 2:10).
God created us for good works and for this reason He equipped us with different talents. God has a special calling for every single person.Yesterday we talked about everyday obedience as something that helps us to enter our calling. I want to tell a little about myself and how I entered my calling.I never thought I would become a pastor. I never thought I would do the things I am doing today. Never! I did not pursue it; I did not pray about it. What did I do? I did what I knew to do when I saw a need: tried to help to the best of my ability. By the time when I came from Nigeria to Belarus I already had become a believer. We had formed a small group of Christian students. We gathered for fellowship, prayer, and mutual encouragement. At the time it was allowed to openly speak about one’s faith; they could expel you from the institute and deport from the country. One day, a young man from our student group stopped a car to get a lift. When he got into the car, he noticed a Christian sticker that said “God is light.” It turned out that the driver also was a believer. After their conversation the driver invited this brother and our whole group to his church. They functioned as an underground church. We started to attend it on a regular basis. It was a wonderful Pentecostal church; people there loved God and were devoted to Him. We experienced a true Christian love in this church. But there was one problem – the lack of biblical teaching. Every Sunday new people repented there, and many of them were young people, but because of the lack of teaching these people were not growing spiritually. We saw the need and began helping in this area. We started sharing what was taught to us. We started getting together with the youth; we read the Bible and discussed it; we preached, taught, and encouraged them. So, we were obedient to God in the need He showed us. We became an instrument in God’s hands for the solution of this problem.Gradually it grew into something we never expected. People started drawing from us like from a well what the Lord had placed in us. The bigger the need grew, the more God poured out His grace on us. Some incredible things began happening that we couldn’t even dream about; God started healing and delivering numerous people. Until then I thought these things only happened through my pastor, not me or the people from my group. I couldn’t imagine that the time would come when people were healed after I prayed; I believed such a thing is only meant for pastors. I thought God anointed my pastor and when he prayed the deaf began hearing, the blind – seeing, and the paralyzed – getting up from their wheelchairs. But to my great surprise I started witnessing all these things in the ministry of our group; I saw God doing these same things through us as well. The more miracles God did through us, the more invitations from different places we received. We started traveling to various towns and villages. Before that my studies were my priority; now everything changed. It became more important to me to travel to these places and share the Word of God. This desire was burning within me. So, that is how I entered my calling – through the daily obedience to God.I have to say that all the members of our group have become pastors, even though none of them thought about it. One of them is a pastor in Germany, another one – in South Africa; others are pastors in Belarus, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Moscow. How did it come to pass? Through daily obedience to God!Be obedient! Do what God tells you to do on a regular basis and you will enter your calling. But I have to note that your obedience will not necessarily make you a pastor, because not everyone is called to be a pastor. You might become a worshipper or children’s minister; you might be working with youth or do street evangelism. The main thing is to enter YOUR calling. The main thing is to realize that you will only be happy when you enter YOUR calling. Just like fish are created for water, every one of us is created for our special calling.Be obedient to God in the small things! Be obedient every day and you will find your calling. May God help you in it!Till tomorrow!Pastor Rufus Ajiboy

  • Relationships are the thing that helps us to see the real condition of our hearts and those areas we still need to work on

What happens when we build relationships with other people? These relationships uncover in us the faults we have not seen before. In every one of us there is a lot of dross that needs to be cleansed out so that we could conform to the image of Jesus Christ. Many people declare themselves to be perfect since they are a new creature and the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Dear friends, it is good to have faith. But it is not enough to believe these things in our hearts and to confess them with our mouths. If we neglect the instruments of transformation that God ordained to change us, then our actual lives will be far from our confessions.
  • What are you doing with your talent? III

«Set your mind on things above» (Colossians, 3:2).But you cannot mentally switch and start thinking about the things above, because it is a process. It depends on your lifestyle. So Jesus tells us to invest ourselves and our treasures into the Kingdom of God, because where your treasures are, your heart will be also. If you continuously think on how you can build God’s Kingdom, – investing your finances, time, strength and effort into it, – then your heart will also be there. It is a law: your heart will be where your treasures are.
  • Whatever a man sows that shall he also reap

All of life is sowing. Our words are seeds, our actions are also seeds. Even our all your passivity or inactions are also seeds. So, everyday of your life, you are either sowing into the flesh or sowing into the spirit. One way to sow into the spirit is make use of every opportunity to do that which is good towards all men, especially towards them that are of the household of faith.
  • Life is a trust

You should understand there is nothing that belongs to you. Your life itself is not yours, it’s a trust God has shown to you. Understanding this truth changes the way you respond to what is going on around you.You do not live for yourself; you did not appear on this Earth by your own act of will or for your own personal purpose. God has given life to you as a sign of His trust for you. You are entrusted with life from God and the day will come when you will have to give account to God for the life He given to you, – for all your deeds and words while living in your body.
  • Everything that is hidden will unavoidably be brought into the light

«For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil» (Ecclesiastes, 12:14). Solomon said the same thing Jesus said: God will bring into judgment our every work and especially all the hidden works: sins, wrongdoings that we have tried to keep in secret. God will openly bring our every deed into the light of His judgment. It means that all our sins will follow us wherever we go. The only way we can avoid the consequences of our sins and wrongdoings – is to repent before God brings them into the judgment. Repentance opens to us the door of mercy and grace from the Lord. It brings into our life new opportunities from the Lord. For this reason the only right lifestyle and the only correct decision is to repent of our wrongdoings so that God won’t have to judge us.
  • What are the benefits of pain and suffering at the time?

Problems draw our attention faster than anything else.Problems can become a spiritual “alarm clock” from God. This is what Job (36:15) points out: “He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression”.In times of prosperity and abundance we hear God as whispering, but in times of pain and suffering we hear Him loud and clear. God has an ability to revive our attention towards His Word and His voice. That is why Solomon says that in times of abundance we should enjoy life, but in times of suffering we should think about our life.
