Daily obedience to God in different areas of your life will bring you to your calling

Greetings to you on this wonderful day made by God! Every new day is a gift from God to people living on the earth. God made every person for a particular purpose. And in order to fulfil this purpose He endowed EVERY ONE OF US with His gifts and talents. God loves variety, so the talents He has abundantly bestowed upon people are immensely various.

Let’s look at Jesus’ parable of talents.

«For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is your.’
But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth» (Mathew, 25:14-30).

Unfortunately, some translations are missing a very important sentence in verse 30: „He who has ears, let him hear!» Please, pay attention to the things we will discuss today.

The source of our potential is God Himself.

«For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them»(Mathew, 25:14).

Based on this verse we can see that the Lord CALLED His servants. We are talking about the calling.

Your calling is from the Lord. God is the initiator of your calling. God calls us. He calls every person. It is very important what we do with our calling. It is important to understand that it is God, not us that issue the calling. He calls us based on our potential. He sees what we are able to do, because He knows what He has bestowed upon us. God calls every person, and He equips every person with the gifts he needs to fulfil that calling. Thus, we shouldn’t play games concerning our calling; – we have to work to fulfil it. In John (15:16) Jesus said:

«You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you».

Someone may think, «And how do I find out what my calling is?» Many people still thin in their minds, «If I knew my calling, I would answer it. The problem is that I do not know my calling».

I will try to answer these questions and thoughts.

To every person that does not know his calling yet, I advise to be obedient to God on daily basis. If you will be obedient to God in your daily walk, then you will learn your calling; you will hear God and understand what He is calling you to.

Daily obedience to God will bring a person to full realization of his or her calling. The big picture or the global project consists of multitude of small detail. As the saying goes, «Every trip starts with the first step».

Repentance is the first step. After you repent of your sins, Jesus becomes your Lord. What does that mean? The Lordship of Jesus implies doing of what He tells you. Daily obedience to God in different areas of your life will bring you to your calling.

We will continue about it tomorrow!

God bless you!

  • Prayer must be my first priority

Today I would like to talk more about the third point. I finished saying that prayer is more about what God wants to tell you and what He wants to do in your life and not what you want to tell Him. So you do not need to tell God what is on your heart; allow God to work through His Word giving Him opportunity to work in your heart and reveal to you His plans. If you want to hear God, you cannot be in a hurry. Effective prayer has nothing to do with haste.
