Do You Hear What God Is Saying? IV

I am glad to greet you in our column „Daily Word for Spiritual Strength”! I thank the Lord for the opportunity to share with you the revelations that God gives me. God wants His people to get to know His Word – the truth that sets a person free from every lie and sin. The Bible says that Jesus came to give us life, and life in abundance. God’s life is hidden in His Word. In order to have this life in abundance, we need to love His Word and learn to listen to His voice and be led by it.

Let us look at an example from Paul’s life.

“Much time had been lost, and sailing had already become dangerous because by now it was after the Fast. So Paul warned them, “Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.” But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship.” (Acts 27: 9-11).

Through Paul, God said that the journey would be dangerous and difficult, but the centurion put more trust in the opinions and forecasts of the experts, the pilot and the owner of the ship, because their instruments pointed to good weather and not to what Paul was saying. As soon as they set out on their journey, a strong wind broke out. The instruments could not warn them about the wind. It is like when meteorologists forecast one kind of weather, but we see something totally different. Experts can make mistakes!! That is why we need to train our spirit to hear what only GOD says.

Choose for yourself which voice you are going to believe. Jesus says that if you are His sheep, you have the opportunity and the ability to hear God’s voice, especially when not everything in your life happens the way you want. God wants to speak to you and guide you in these situations. The Bible says,

“Be still, and know that I am God, …” (Psalms 46:10).

In order to hear God’s voice, you need to learn to stop and calm down. Quiet your mind, feelings and emotions, and only then will you be able to hear what God is saying to you. When you learn to hear God’s voice, you will have not only eternal life, but also life in abundance, which is hidden within you. There will be problems, but you will be able to rejoice, because you will be sure that your God has an answer to every question and that your God is able to solve any problem. The human mind tries to calculate everything – how things are going, how everything should happen. Our minds work like fast processors. But the problem is that situations arise in our lives that we cannot solve. What happens to our mind-processor then? It crashes. The Bible teaches us,

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5).

In schools and universities, we are taught to trust only our own minds. That is not bad in itself, for God has given us minds for a purpose – but not so that we would think our mind is equal to God’s mind. We have been taught to trust our minds so thoroughly that it is hard for us to change and start trusting and putting our hope in the Lord. Those who have always trusted their own minds find it difficult to switch over and trust God. But God says,

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6).

God promises that He will guide us. But it is important to understand that God does not always guide and lead you where you want to go, and sometimes the way will not be easy and comfortable. God will lead you in His ways, because He does it with the purpose of taking you where you need to be! Trust the Lord in this, because He knows the end from the very beginning.

We will continue this topic tomorrow!

May God guard you today!

  • The seed contains tremendous potential

Our attitude towards God’s Word is very important. God sends His Word into our lives so that His Word would bring to us that which we need. In order for the seed of God’s Word to grow in our hearts, the condition of our hearts is particularly important. «For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it.» (Isaiah 55:10-11).

  • We must walk not only before God, but also before people God has set as overseers in our lives

I must note that ‘accountability group’ (small group, home group) is not the place where you only share your problems or weaknesses. Of course, accountability implies all of it. But if we only do that, then there is no time for instruction or feed-back, and then this group can turn into a place of gossip and slandering.Accountability group or Christian fellowship is the place of learning where we all strive to be more like Jesus. We do it through questions and answers, Bible study, prayer; we listen to each other and support each other.

  • The blessedness or beauty of serving others! III

Ministry and giving determines the measure of one’s spiritual growth and maturity. It also determines how much I bear a resemblance to Jesus Christ. God wants us to grow spiritually. One of the indications of one’s spiritual growth is how he or she fulfils the needs of others. Such a person not only takes and receives, but also gives. Giving and ministry is one and the same word that determines how much of resemblance to Jesus Christ I bear.It says in the Bible that Jesus came to this earth to serve and not to be served. He is the example of a minister. Many of us want others to serve us. God says that we should minister and serve others. He wants us to be like Jesus.

  • Faith without love is not biblical faith!

If you have faith, but do not have love, then, according to Paul, you are “sounding brass and a clanging cymbal” and you are “nothing”. Faith without love does not work. That is why it is so important to learn to walk in love. Otherwise our hearts won’t be able to go through the last day attacks. Faith will not work without love! What are you going to do when people will hate, persecute and hurt you? Will you get offended and look for the ways to pay them back and do evil? That is the reaction of flesh; that is the reaction of a natural man.

  • What are the goals of God’s chastening?II

«For if we judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world» (1 Corinthians, 11:31-32).So God chastises His children not for His own pleasure, but for our correction and for us to participate in His holiness. God does that in order for us to bring forth the peaceful fruit of righteousness and not to be condemned with the world.
