Habit is a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness II

My greetings to you my dear friends! May the grace and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you!Yesterday we defined a habit as a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness. We also determined that in order to grow up by making your life in prayer effective, you have to broaden your knowledge base about prayer. You have to know what prayer is and and why you have to pray. You need this knowledge, since it will stimulate you to pray. The Bible says, that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. What shall I do when I feel my prayer doesn´t work well. Shall I read a book about upsurge and healing, or listen to a sermon about liberation from curse, maybe I should blame devil and demons for all failures of my praying life. It´s them who set obstacles for me. Quite often people blame devil for all failures in their life. When I listen to the sermons constantly focusing on satan and demons I ask myself, whom are we preaching and whom are we glorifying? Read gospels to see what Jesus said to the demon. He said: “leave him” then continued his way. It´s not a satan fault that you don´t practise praying. If you want to grow up in your life in prayer, you have to broaden your knowledge base about prayer, listen to the sermons about prayer and its benefits. Listen to the testimonies of those who practise praying and move away the conditions and problems they are surrounded by and grow up in God. People of prayer face many difficulties in their lives, but none of those was able to stop them. Why? They know how to pray, they know how to have fellowship with God, they never accept a negative answer. Such people are “hanging” on God. Read about it, broaden your knowledge base. The Bible should be the book we study the most among all other literature. Which one of you thinks he needs a breakthrough in his life in prayer. Trying to develop habits do one habit at a time, not many. Think about what is the most essential habit for you now. If, for example, you need to develop a habit of praying, do it. Practise it on regular basis for 20 days first, then for 3 or 6 months. Make sure you have en-grafted this habit into your daily life. Only then handle the next useful habit. We have to develop effective life in prayer – God is saying to us nowadays. God´s word is the word that brings up winners. It builds up a church the gates of hell shall not prevail against. That´s why our attitude to what God wants to brings to us through this message is so important.
“…but to this man will I look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.” (Isaiah 66:2).
By virtue of prayer we keep our spirit contrite and broken before God, and feel trepidation about word of God.May the Lord bless you abundantly!See you tomorrow! Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

  • What is favour? II

It is so wonderful that God has given us a full manual for wholesome living. Bible is full of principles and instructions for a happy life on the earth, and – the most important – it gives us a guarantee of eternal life. Every wise person not only reads the Bible, but also uses its principles in his daily walk.
  • How can we earn promotion? II

Who of you desires for God to be with you as the Partner at home, at work, and everywhere else? God wants it more than we do. But God can not deviate from His principles. Many believers deceive themselves thinking that God is with them, even though their life does not testify of it. It is a paradox. You may think that since God has promised to be with you and never to leave you or forsake you, He is indebted to be with you. It is also possible that God is with us, but not in a pleasant way. It is not about God; it is about how we live.
  • On what does your destiny depend? II

«My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life» (Proverbs, 4:20-23). Based on this Scripture, we can argue that the course of your life, my destiny or yours should not depend on somebody else but on ourselves. You must take charge of your life and destiny!
  • Jesus was constantly seeking the God´s will for His life

Reading the Bible we see how Jesus was growing and being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. Jesus was constantly seeking the God´s will for His life, in order to set a good example for us. If Jesus had got to know God´s will using His divine nature instead, He wouldn´t have set a role model to us nor we wouldn´t be able to follow his steps today. Jesus stayed longer in the Temple after the feast of Passover in Jerusalem while other people had already left for home (see Luke 2:41-51). What was Jesus doing there and why did He stay longer in the Temple? He stayed there to listen to the scribes and to question them. That´s one of His secrets where His wisdom came from. Jesus studied the Scriptures. He attended the Temple and asked questions, prayed and leaned closer to God, His Father.
  • Worthy Goal for Life

Every person has a goal, whether he talks about it or not. He is driven to do something. But if we talk about goals, it is important to determinewhether it is WORTHY or UNWORTHY. Paul had a worthy goal and talked about it all the time:«…according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
