Prayer is submitting to the will of God

Dear children of God, once again I welcome you to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We are still talking about prayer and its ability to make us strong and fill us with God’s life.

Yesterday we talked that the people who have made prayer the main priority in their life shine in darkness and win many victories in this life, because through the prayerful fellowship with the Creator they are filled with His power and wisdom.

Any person who desires to live in continuous victory always prays and does not give up, because he relies not on his own strength, but on the power and abilities of the Almighty God.

«Ah, Lord GOD! (..) There is nothing too hard for You» (Jeremiah, 32:17).

Jesus taught about the role prayer needs to have in our lives.

«The He spoke a parable to them, that The He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart » (Luke, 18:1).

I want you to memorize the words ‘ought to’ and ‘always’. People must pray! God Himself has said that. God did not say: «I suggest you pray». He did not say: «It is a good idea to pray». When the Creator says that people must always pray, He knows what He is saying.

When reading the Bible, we see that prayer was #1 priority in the life of Jesus. Jesus understood the power and significance of prayer. Jesus knew why we need to pray, what is the purpose of prayer and what can be accomplished through prayer. By saying that «men always ought to pray and not lose heart», Jesus pointed out that when you pray a lot you will get tired (for example, Latvian translation uses those exact words) and you will lose heart; you will feel powerless and weak. Prayer is the medicine against gloom, tiredness and aimlessness.

I want to remind you what effective prayer is.

  1. Prayer is fellowship with God – spirit to spirit.
  2. Prayer is deliberate drawing near to God.
  3. Prayer is quality time spent with God.
  4. Prayer is a conversation – two-way movement.
  5. Prayer is pouring out of one’s heart before God.
  6. Prayer is waiting before God and expressing one’s love and trust towards God.
  7. Prayer is supplicating God according to His will.
  8. Prayer is seeking God’s will.
  9. Prayer is knocking until the door is open.

Besides all of the above, there is another characteristic of effective prayer.

  1. Prayer is submitting to the will of God.

When we pray we place ourselves in submission to God’s will for our lives. The very fact that you come to God in prayer is the proof of your submission to God.

The Bible tells us to pray always; it is the command of the Lord. That is why when I come to God in prayer then the very act of praying places me in the position of submission to this command. In other words, if I don’t pray, thus I demonstrate the lack of submission to the will of God; because praying is the command of God.

First, prayer helps me to submit to the will of God. Second, when I pray and ask God for something, I change and submit myself to the will of God so that my prayer can be effective. If a person does not submit himself or herself to the will of God, then his or her prayers will be hindered. So in order for the prayer to be answered, I tell God: “Not my will, but Yours be done in my life! I want what You want”. Prayer is the very thing that helps me to be in submission to God’s will. Only when I live in accordance to His will, I will be happy and blessed by God Himself! Submit to the will of God! It is good for you, because the Words says that God’s will is

“good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans, 12:2).

God bless you!

  • On what does your destiny depend? II

«My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life» (Proverbs, 4:20-23). Based on this Scripture, we can argue that the course of your life, my destiny or yours should not depend on somebody else but on ourselves. You must take charge of your life and destiny!
  • The changes must start with us

«When I was young my imagination did not know any boundaries. And I wanted to change the whole world. In time I realized that I wouldn’t be able to change the world, so I tried to change my country. When I realized that I wouldn’t be able to change the country, I concentrated on changing my city. But I couldn’t change my city either. So, when I had grown older, I tried to change my family. Now when I am an old man waiting to cross over to the other side I have understood that the only one I could change was me. Suddenly I realized that if I had worked on changing myself I would have been able to really affect my family and then my family and I could have affected the city. Through the changes in the city we could have changed the country and the world”.
  • Lust brings sin, and sin brings death II

Lust is a strong desire or passion to something forbidden or unlawful. For example, the Bible says coveting your neighbour’s wife or his property is unlawful.«“You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s.”» (Exodus 20:17).
  • THE GOAL OF DISCIPLINE IS REPENTANCE OF PRODIGAL SONS AND THEIR RETURN TO HOME

«As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent» (Revelation, 3:19). Repentance is the right reaction to discipline! Sin never is just one’s personal business, so to speak. Sin is not something you do to yourself; sin is something that inevitably affects others.
  • Presence of God V

God so desires for us to seek Him early in the morning. He so desires for us to return to Him. He wants to heal us and to bind up our wounds. God so wants to revive and restore us, so that we could live before Him. When we seek the Lord, when we seek to know Him, He comes and immerses us into His presence; He pours out His rain on us and waters the earth.Yesterday we talked about how Moses set up a tabernacle outside the camp for all seekers of the Lord. We also saw that instead of entering the tabernacle and seeking the face of the Lord, Israelites were simply observing how Moses spoke to God and how God answered Moses.
  • Piety II

Calling upon God – means to have habitual prayer life. Prayer helps us to draw near to God and releases His provision, because He is close to all who call upon Him. We also talked about the fact that our provision depends not only on our ability to call upon God, but also on how much we fear God. To fear God means to avoid evil, to do good, to seek peace and to follow it. God’s provision and blessing is the reward of those who fear Him. We also pointed out that God has secrets that are meant for dedicated people who call upon His Name and walk in the fear of the Lord. Besides all of the above, it is important to know that dedication to God is impossible without the love for Him.
