Presence of God III

Good morning, dear friends!I am glad to share the word from the Lord with you.We have begun talking about the presence of God and about how to experience this presence increasingly more in our lives. We established that it is God’s presence that actually separates us as God’s people from the other nations. God’s presence makes as stronger and more glorious on the earth; that is why we need it like air. Yesterday we saw that in order to experience God’s presence we need to draw near to God – and do it on purpose. Today we will continue to discuss this Scripture reference.
«Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up» (James, 4:8-10)
From the verses above we see that sin and adultery distance a person from God and block His presence, His power and glory from manifesting. So, besides prayer, there are other things that bring us closer to God and bring His presence into our lives: those are repentance and commitment to live a holy life. The price of effective praying is holiness and godliness. That is why James when he was calling us to draw near to God also pointed out the importance of cleansing and correcting our hearts and the need of being broken and humbled before God.In the passage above ‘clean hands’ refer to the outer life: our visible actions, relationships and behaviour. A ‘purified heart’ refers to our inner life, our motives and meditations.Brokenness and humility in the sight of the Lord testify of God and His Word being in control of our lives. Only this proves that our wills are submitted to God’s will in all areas of life; and it means that we allow God to be the Master and Lord of our lives.Without clean hands, a purified heart and without brokenness and humility before God we won’t be able to draw near to God.So, we draw near to God through prayer, which is the only thing that secures God’s presence in our lives. Nevertheless, in order to draw near to Him we must cleanse our lives. Our willingness to pay the price of a holy and godly life testifies of our true understanding of how desperate is our need for God’s presence. We will continue tomorrow!God bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Poverty and failure have roots and laziness is an obvious one

One of the reasons for spiritual coldness and lukewarmness is negligence and laziness. Marital failure, financial poverty, failure in ministry and many other forms of poverty can all be traced back to the same root of negligence or dealing with a slack hand.“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich” (Proverbs 10:4)
  • Are you growing in your walk with God?

It is God desires for every one of His children to continue to grow in their relationship with Him. The reason is obvious from the Bible: until we grow up, we won’t be able to enjoy the privileges God has provided for us as His sons and daughters.“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: {elements: or, rudiments}” (Galatians 4: 1-3).
  • Prayer is submitting to the will of God

When we pray we place ourselves in submission to God’s will for our lives. The very fact that you come to God in prayer is the proof of your submission to God.The Bible tells us to pray always; it is the command of the Lord. That is why when I come to God in prayer then the very act of praying places me in the position of submission to this command. In other words, if I don’t pray, thus I demonstrate the lack of submission to the will of God; because praying is the command of God.
  • The importance of our submission to God so that our authority given to us by Him could be effective

Jesus humbled Himself and was obedient unto death. And for this very reason God exalted Him and gave Him the name above every other name. Jesus having taken a form of a man demonstrated us how we should behave. Jesus Christ came to the earth to help us see how we can exercise and display the authority of God in our lives in order to fulfil the calling and mission that God has given to every person.
  • How to enter your ministry

Yesterday we started discussing how we can enter our ministry. We established that, first; we need a strong desire to serve. This desire is tied to our understanding of God’s will and the purpose of our salvation. As we talked about, ministry helps us to reveal our potential. Ministry helps us to find out about ourselves, our calling in the establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth and doing the works that are pleasing to God. God has predestined for us to do particular good works. God desires for us to be fruitful and glorify Him on earth. Through our ministry God wants to fill this earth with the knowledge of Him and His Kingdom. He wants us to establish His principles in every sphere of life and win people for Him by the ministry we do on earth.
