Without forgiveness we rob ourselves both of the faith and good conscience

May peace and grace from our Lord Jesus Christ be multiplied in your life! I believe the word I am sharing with you here strengthens you and helps you in your daily walk with God Yesterday we started talking about why we must forgive our offenders. Based on Jesus’ parable from Mathew (18:21-35), we saw that refusal to forgive binds both the offender and the offended. We also saw how we must treat our offenders: we must be the initiators of reconciliation. And yesterday we stopped at the thought that we need to reconcile as soon as possible, otherwise the master will deliver us to the torturers. Who is the master? God is the Judge. We read about it in many passages of the Scripture. Here are some of them:
«And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead» (Acts, 10:42).

«For we know Him who said, „Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, „The LORD will judge His people”» (Hebrews, 10:30)

«…to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect» (Hebrews, 12:23).
If you are not seeking reconciliation with your offender (if you do not want to change, repent and forgive him or her), then your offender in his despair can give this situation into God’s hands – give it over to the Judge of all flesh. From that moment on you will have to deal not with a man, but with the Master who will deliver you to the torturers. Who are these torturers? They are Satan and his demons. There are several Bible verses that speak about it. But if we speak in modern terms, they are bandits whose purpose is to return a person into the dungeon (prison) and torment until he pays his debt in full:
«And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him» (Mathew, 18:34).
No prison is worse that spiritual prison! And no debt is bigger than the debt of love! «Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law» (Romans, 13:8). Forgiveness is one of the works of love. So until you forgive your offender and reconcile with him, you won’t get out of the spiritual prison. We read in both Old and New Testament about the cases when God was forced to give people over into the hands of torturers. We read about one such instance in Corinthians church. There was a man in that church who committed adultery, but was totally callous towards sin in general and his sin in particular. This man refused to repent and did no show any signs of remorse when the church pointed out his sin. Because of his haughtiness and indifference towards sin, the church used its authority from God «deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus» (1 Corinthians, 5:5). Apostle Paul also talked about Hymenaeus and Alexander whom he delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme:
«This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme» (1 Timothy, 1:18-20).
Without forgiveness we rob ourselves both of the faith and good conscience. We can suffer shipwreck of our faith and end up in the prison with spiritual tyrants. Forgiveness makes us like our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Who forgave us all our offenses:
«Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases» (Psalm, 103:2-3).
I wish abundant God’s blessings on this wonderful day! Till tomorrow! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Isaiah saw three important things that totally changed his life

Whoever loves God serves people. The one who serves people is blessed and exalted by God. Ministry is a sacrifice. When you serve, you give what is yours – time, money, energy, sleep, food etc. God loves generous hearts, and He can’t pass by this type of people.Do you know why God blessed Abraham? It was because Abraham was a generous man. He was ready to give anything to God. Abraham left his family in obedience to God; he yielded to his nephew and allowed him to choose a place of lodging first. Abraham gave tithe to God at the time when no such law existed. He did not refuse to sacrifice to God his own son. For this reason God blessed him.
  • Doctrine shows us which direction we should take

When we read the Bible we receive doctrine, which means we start to see where we should go. Through the reading of the Bible we are shown the direction for our thought life, our words and all other areas of our lives.Besides, the Bible is profitable for reproof. Quite often we start walking the way the Bible has shown us, but then we somehow get distracted, lose the right direction and get sidetracked. It is through reproof that we are shown that we have taken the wrong path
  • I desire mercy and not sacrifice

«As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, „Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him. Now it happened as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, „Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard that, He said to them, „Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance» (Mathew, 9:9-13).
  • Where to get joy?

«The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes» (Psalm 19:8-9).This passage of Scriptures tells us that one of the sources of joy is God’s Word, meditation on the Word and the perception of the (our) world through the prism of the Word. That is why it is so important for us to realize that if we want to remain in joy and learn to draw joy, we must grow in love with God’s Word.
  • God reveals His plan gradually

Yesterday we began talking about the importance of knowing God’s will for our lives. We established that God has a particular plan with precise assignments for every person. But God reveals His plan gradually.God reveals His plan to us as we reach certain levels of maturity and grow in our ability to accept what He has prepared for us. As God shows us the details of His plan, we can learn to walk in obedience in those areas where God has already revealed us His will. And during this time we can simply trust Him to carry out His sovereign plan for our life.
  • I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me!

According to the word of God we are already granted everything we need in order to succeed in this life. God has already given us all that we need to have life abundantly. There is no such need in our life God has not taken care for yet. We only have to get to know God and His precious promises, so that we can prevail the lust of this world and fulfil our call from God.«Seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue; by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.». (2 Peter 1:3-4).
