All true ministry begins in the presence of God V

Hello wonderful people of God!I am so glad that we can continue to explore a topic that I believe is one of the most vital truths I can ever share with you. We have been discussing spending time with God as the first priority of our lives if we want to please Him and serve Him with excellent results. We saw the example Jesus set for us with His life, and we have considered three lessons from the life of Isaiah. Today we will move on by considering another illustration of this principle from the initial training Jesus gave to His twelve disciples in Mark chapter 3:
“Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14He appointed twelve-designating them apostles-that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15and to have authority to drive out demons” (Mark3: 13-15).
From the above text, we can see the following truth: Jesus has a mission, and He called twelve men, whom He named apostles, to become part of it. This is the same thing God is calling us to today. He is calling us to be co-workers with Him in the business of saving the lost and expanding His kingdom in the earth. We do that by serving God in our respective areas of gifting and assignment. However, before Jesus sent the Apostles on their assignment, He called them to first spend time with Him. This principle is still very essential in our day. Before you run out to serve God, you need to slow down and spend some time with Him in fellowship. After the disciples knew about the resurrection of Jesus and were commissioned by Him to go out and preach the good news to all people, they must have been filled with passion and zeal to go and spread the news as quickly as possible. However, Jesus slowed them down by saying they should tarry until they were clothed with power from on high.
“This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24: 46-49).
We know they did just that from the biblical record:
“Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God” (Luke24: 52).
“They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” (Acts1: 14).
These disciples were applying the principle that they were taught by Jesus, and that is that ministry begins in the presence of God. They spent time ministering to God in worship, and they drew near to Him through prayer and the reading of the Word. The outcome of spending time with God is that we are equipped and clothed with power to do what we have been called to do. One of the reasons Jesus called His disciples to be with Him before they went out to minister is that they might have authority to cast out devils.
“He appointed twelve-designating them apostles-that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15and to have authority to drive out demons”(Mark3: 14-15).
Our authority and anointing to effectively serve God flow out of our relationship with God and not from our activities. This is something you must remember all the days of your life. Let me ask you today, how is your relationship with the Lord? If you sense a lack of anointing and spiritual authority, it is very likely that you have grown cold in your relationship with Christ. Start from there and see how your life will be revolutionized.Grace be multiplied unto you in Jesus’ name! Pastor Rufus Ajiboy

  • The true Christian life is a call to manifest God in our lives

«Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled» (Acts, 4:13).The first disciples of Jesus had spent time with Jesus and that reflected in their attitude to life,- they manifested God’s character through their lives. They were brave and bold for God; they boldly spoke of God, and testify of Him because they had spent time in the Father’s bosom.
  • Value God’s Word!

Today God wants to tell us the same thing. The Word of God is life to us. When God sends us His Word, He offers us life. Rejecting the Word of God we reject life itself. Moses says about God’s Word: «For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life…»It is extremely important for us to appreciate the Word of God and not to treat it as something futile, – it is not like a song that we have listened to and then gone to do our own will. It should be to us like the greatest treasure. We have to value God’s Word, to hide it in our hearts, to appreciate it because it is life to us. God says that through the Word and through our right attitude towards it we can extend or prolong our days. Our attitude toward the Word determines whether we will extend our life or shorten it.
  • Compassionate service to others will fill our life with satisfaction and make us happy in the Lord

It is in ministering to others instead of focusing on ourselves that we discover a fulfilled, happy and satisfied life. Life and joy fill our hearts when we see how God meets other people needs through our ministry. When we share our talents with other people through ministry, God also fills us with life.
  • Do not be discouraged if you feel like God hasn’t yet answered your prayer, keep praying!

Maybe you are praying to God and it seems to you that the answer isn’t going to come, maybe you feel like giving up on prayer, you think that prayer doesn’t work. I’ve spoken to people who were praying for a long time and started to disbelieve in the power of prayer as the answers were not immediate. The example of Canaanite woman shows us that it is wrong to think that there is no point in asking God for help. I would like to reassure you that your prayer is heard today! Even today there is magnificent power in prayer!
  • What are you doing with your promotion? II

If you want God to exalt you, you need to love God and love people. God exalts the loving hearts. Love God and love your neighbour – these are two main commandments. All of your knowledge won’t bring any results, if you forget these two most important commandments. You probably have noticed that God does not answer all prayers. There are some prayers that God does not pay attention to; it happens when we break two most important commandments – to love God and to love your neighbour. Love towards God and people around you are the very power that must rule us and lead us through life. Love towards God and people that is demonstrated in deeds and not in words brings us to the place where promotion from God is possible.
  • God trusts us and relies on us

Yesterday we discoursed that in one hand we believe in God, trust and rely on Him, while in the other hand God trusts us and relies on us. God needs us the moment when He lacks some of His bear necessities.« Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention; … Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me; Because they hated knowledge, And didn’t choose the fear of Yahweh. » (Proverbs 1:24, 28, 29).
