The importance of favouring the Kingdom of God II

May God bless you in a special way today! We have been talking about the fact that favour is not something that happens accidentally in a person’s life; it comes along with the understanding of certain God’s laws or principles. Yesterday we started talking about how every person who desires to experience the power of God’s favour in his life must learn to show favour towards God and His deeds.Today I want to continue on this topic. In his Epistle to Philippians, Apostle Paul wrote of his confidence of one particular thing:
«..being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ» (Philippians, 1:6).
Why was Paul so confident that the Lord will complete the good work He has begun in the lives of believers? If you pay careful attention to the context, you will see that his confidence is based upon the attitude of these people towards the work of God.In the beginning of his letter Paul said that these people had been preaching the Gospel from the very beginning of their walk with God.“I thank my God… for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now…” „..no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only” (Philippians, 1:1-6; 4:15-19).These people actively participated in the spreading of the Gospel; they gave themselves and their property to God. Paul prayed for them, and his prayers worked, because these people not only watched standing aside and with hands folded, – no, they played active role in the preaching. They showed favour towards the work of God’s Kingdom. Thus, Paul’s prayer for God to fulfil all their needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus was not hindered in any way.
«And my God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus» (Philippians, 4: 19).
Many believers today claim this promise for their lives, but unfortunately they are qualified for it. They are not qualified for a simple reason that they are not actively involved in the building of God’s Kingdom like Philippians did. Meeting of needs, answers to prayers, in other words, expressions of favour – all these things belong to those people that sow the seeds of favour into the Kingdom of God.Are you taking part in the building of God’s Kingdom through your local church? Are you sowing the seeds of favour into the lives of other people for the sake of winning them for God? Are you serving God with your property, talents, abilities, time? Answers to these questions determine your readiness to enjoy the favour of God.God bless you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • I can do everything in Christ Jesus who strengthens me!

When we cast all our worries on the Lord, a sincere joy appears fills our hearts and the soul begins to sing a new song. When somebody fully relies on God, he stops chanting the old songs like: “Oh, I am weak! Oh no, I can´t accomplish it! Oh, I am definitely gonna fail! Oh, I am so poor!”When a person casts his worries on the Lord who cares for us, his mouth will sing a new song: “Let the weak say I am strong! I can do everything in Christ Jesus who strengthens me! My God meets all my needs! God is my shepherd, I lack nothing! I destroy my enemies with God! I am healed by the wounds of Jesus.”
  • What is our role and function as Christ’s ambassadors in this world

«Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you, the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising» (Isaiah, 60:1-3).
  • What is compassion?

We must understand that Jesus’ disciples were not perfect; quite the opposite, they are ordinary people with „character issues”. Jesus did not wait until they become perfect, but sent them out to serve people. He did not have anybody else to send; so He worked with what He had. And He is calling us to do the same today; it applies to every one who considers himself to be His disciple. Jesus desires for God’s children to be filled with compassion and to help people allowing God to touch all the people around them with His love.If we see someone perishing physically because of some illness, we do everything to save him. We often do not realize that unsaved people are spiritually ill, that they are perishing and need salvation. We must do everything in our power to save them. So our hearts need to go out to them with love and compassion.
  • When you live in obedience to His Word, God protects you from sorrows and tragedies that fill this world nowadays

Today I would like to point out a very important truth: if you are obedient to God in your actions and in your life in general, then the very same thing that destroys others will lift you up. In the Scripture above we can see that the same waters, which destroyed the world by flooding it, raised Noah’s ark that he had built according to the Word of God. The very same waters destroyed some people and lifted up somebody else – Noah. To the faithful Noah, flood waters brought salvation.
  • The seed contains tremendous potential

Our attitude towards God’s Word is very important. God sends His Word into our lives so that His Word would bring to us that which we need. In order for the seed of God’s Word to grow in our hearts, the condition of our hearts is particularly important. «For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it.» (Isaiah 55:10-11).
  • Precondition for effective prayer is prayer in practice

Prayer must be practiced daily. We will not be able to become masters and professionals in what we do not practice every day. If we do not practice prayer, we will not know how to pray properly. Again I would like to emphasize one truth we spoke of last time. In the life for each of us, once the time comes when most of all we need prayer. But if we do not practice prayer daily, we will not be able to ask and receive the necessary assistance from God at that particular time. May this not happen with us.Prayer changes us and the things that are around us, it changes our world. Everyone can find that a prayer is power, it is a privilege for a believer from God Himself.
